Pakistan threatens to ‘obliterate’ Taliban after peace talks fall apart
Pakistan’s defense minister says the country doesn’t need its full arsenal to push Taliban ‘back to the caves for hiding’

Pakistan’s defense minister on Wednesday threatened to “obliterate” the Taliban, which controls neighboring Afghanistan, after negotiations toward lasting peace between the two sides failed.
Peace talks wrapped up in Istanbul, Turkey, without a “workable solution,” according to Pakistan Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, which comes after deadly clashes this month. Dozens were killed along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the worst violence in the area since the Taliban took control of Kabul in 2021.
Negotiations ended with a disagreement over terror groups allegedly using Afghanistan as a base to attack security forces along Pakistan’s border.
“Pakistan does not require to employ even a fraction of its full arsenal to completely obliterate the Taliban regime and push them back to the caves for hiding,” Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on X.
A Pakistani security source told Reuters that the Taliban had been unwilling to agree to reining in the Pakistani Taliban, a separate terror group that Pakistan says operates without consequences from inside Afghanistan.

An Afghan source familiar with the talks told the outlet that negotiations ended after “tense exchanges” on the matter, noting that Afghanistan claimed it had no control over the Pakistani Taliban.The Pakistani Taliban launched attacks against the Pakistani military in recent weeks.
The clashes began earlier this month after Pakistani air strikes targeted the head of the Pakistani Taliban in Kabul and other locations.
The Taliban retaliated with attacks on Pakistani military posts along the length of the 1,600-mile border that remains closed.
After the Biden’s SEVEN BILLION DOLLAR military gift to the Afghans I’d be a bit more cautious if I were the Pakis. Those ignorant goat herders did pretty well with mostly AKs, RPGs and IEDs against a Superpower for a couple decades.

They would have better served themselves by providing meaningful support to the US during the war when it would have made a difference, instead of sheltering our enemies. If they wish to go it alone now by all means, do so.

…and this is the only way to deal with them. No holds barred. No ROEs. And being bound by “civilized” rules is one of the two reasons we didn’t erase them from history.
With a little luck, they’ll completely obliterate each other.
This is a pattern that repeats itself throughout history. Two examples were the Huns against the Romans, and the Mongols against the Chinese. Both the Huns and Mongols were nomadic and had rivalries that lead to bloodshed. Eventually, they came under the control of a single ruler and ended up being a threat to adjacent civilizations.

I ate British Breakfast at KAF in 2010. When dumped baked beans on my plate I thought, “well, this is new”!
That was the high point of my stays; a “full English” breakfast.
And the various beverages, of course.
I had fish and chips at the Brit chow hall at KAF myself. That was a good plate of food, but fish and chips didn’t originate in England. It was brought over from Spain by Sephardic Jews who used to fry cod (bacalao) and potatoes to make a quick meal.
I have been to GB three times, and the best thing I can say about British cuisine is that the beer is pretty good. Couldn’t wait to get that gourmet airline food on the way back.

For some reason, sheer contrariness I guess, GB has spent its entire existence a stones throw from France and still learned nothing about preparing decent food.
