The Department of Homeland Security receives Medicaid data that could help them locate illegal aliens
Some states allow non-US citizens to apply for Medicaid benefits. These states argued that only state funds go into paying for these benefits. Thus, state taxpayers may be paying the benefits for noncitizens on Medicaid. The Department of Homeland Security requested Medicaid information from these states. This data may help with obtaining information on illegal aliens who may be receiving benefits.
From the Associated Press:
All states must legally provide emergency Medicaid services to non-U.S. citizens, including to those who are lawfully present but have not yet met a five-year wait to apply for Medicaid.
Seven states, along with the District, allow immigrants who are not living legally in the country to enroll — with full benefits — in their state’s Medicaid program. The states launched these programs during the Biden administration and said they would not bill the federal government to cover those immigrants’ health care costs.
The Trump administration has raised doubts about that pledge.
Nixon, the HHS spokesman, said that the state’s Medicaid programs for immigrants “opened the floodgates for illegal immigrants to exploit Medicaid — and forced hardworking Americans to foot the bill.”
All of the states — California, New York, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Minnesota and Colorado — have Democratic governors. Due to his state’s budget woes, Newsom announced earlier this year he would freeze enrollment into the program; Illinois will also shut down its program for roughly 30,000 non-U.S. citizens in July.
The remaining states — New York, Oregon, Minnesota and Colorado — have not yet submitted the identifiable data to CMS as part of the review, according to a public health official who has reviewed CMS’ requests to the states.
State health officials from the District, Washington and Illinois did not respond to requests for comment.
Newsom’s office said in its statement that the data sharing has “implications for all Californians, but it is especially concerning for vulnerable communities.”

Good! No non-citizen should be allowed to have benefits that are paid for by citizens. The illegals ship billions of $s back home while taking advantage of all sorts of “FREE SH*T” and then laff at us for being such chumps to allow it to happen.
My little “Doc-in-a-box” primary care Community Health Care provider suggested I go to the emergency room to have all kinds of tests runs that she, a Nurse Practitioner couldn’t order because she wasn’t an MD. So far I’ve taken a hard pass on that suggestion. The last time I needed to take someone in for emergency care, she sat there for hours waiting to be seen, while dozens of POCs with NO insurance were whisked back for routine sniffles and such.
And you know that these states that are saying “it’s state not federal $ paying for it” are lying thru their teeth. They WILL send a bill to fed.gov one way or another.
Douglas AZ hasn’t had a hospital in decades. Why, you may ask? Bankruptcy due to providing free “emergency” care to illegals.
We nearly had our hospital nearly go bankrupt as well. Three patients from Mexico with serious illnesses checked in about the same time. One was inside the ICU for 18 months. All by himself he cost the hospital $5.6M. And then he died.
The last one the hospital paid nearly $300k to fly back to Mexico. It was cheaper than keeping him. After that, anyone that was admitted that was non-US was shipped home and “abracadabra”, they quit coming.
And they’re always so appreciative…

I remember this time I was traveling to Egypt and I asked them for free stuff. The Egyptians just gave it to me! At first, they didn’t want to, but I waved an American flag and pulled one of theirs down. I spit on the pyramids and they just awarded me some bennies. They said “in honor of your presidents Hussein Obama and Osama Bin Biden we give you all your free stuff, just like they do for people from anywhere!
I thought it was a one time thing but then the Germans did it. So did the Brits. Even the Hondurans and Mexicans. Turns out that when you demand stuff and disrespect them enough, they just give you free stuff. Whatever you demand. Especially when you sneak into the country.
Then I woke up and found out that only America does that.
This woman’s experience mirrors your own:

Ha ha. Nice; she did it far better!
I’m a little disappointed in DJT floating that illegals working on farms would not be deported. The Pro-Illegal Labor Exploitation Wing of the GOP is looking for a win. This sounds suspiciously like Dems in 1850/60’s crying “Who’s gonna pick the cotton” argument.
I work for my local county consolidated human services. Its maddening how many ‘undocumented’ make their way here, squirt out a kid and then apply for Medicaid/Food Stamps. If mom is here illegally, she’d apply for ’emergent medicaid’: depending on type of birth (Vaginal/C-section), the state would award either one or two days of medicaid coverage. Well…buried in the bylaws of the stated Medicaid policy, if a mother is enrolled in a Medicaid product for delivery, the child AUTOMATICALLY is enrolled in 13 months of ‘auto newborn’ coverage.
Compound that with a household of 7 (mom/dad are illegal) and the 5 kids are anchor babies. Dad does under the table painting, landscaping, contracting, etc and makes 2000.00 a month. Well, we prorate that income for only eligible members (2000/7*5=1428.57 a month for eligible HH members). Typically rent is about 1500-2000 a month where I live. So you have a household of 5 receiving maximum food stamp benefits. In 2025, its 1158.00 a month….multiply that on X amount of HHs enrolled in the FNS program.
This is the kind of stuff that they need to reform. I remember reading an article about someone complaining about the “generous” veteran benefits that disabled veterans received, to the point of discouraging veterans from entering the workforce. The author implied that these benefits should be reduced. But, why balance the budget on the backs of the veterans when there are people on government help programs like welfare, food stamps, etc., making out like bandits?
BAH with dependents, at least when I received it, was at a standard rate regardless of how many dependents one had. They need to move to something like that when it comes to welfare and welfare-related assistance programs… Or the increases should be in smaller increments per additional dependents.
I remember when one of my uncles was asked why he did not seek employment. He asked why should he get a job when Uncle Sam was paying him not to work.
