1 hospitalized, 1 detained after possible road rage-related shooting off Sam Houston Parkway
HOUSTON – One person has been transported to a hospital and another person has been detained after a shooting just off the Sam Houston Parkway in northwest Houston.
The shooting happened in the 4300 block of W. Sam Houston Parkway, near the intersection with Clay Road.
Police at the scene say they were told one of the individuals was involved in a road rage incident off I-10.
The man who was shot, a man driving a pickup truck, followed a blue car to the location where the shooting happened, according to police.
“The individual in the truck gets out and starts banging on the little blue car’s driver’s side window. At that time, the driver, our suspect inside the blue car, shoots two times through the window,” said Lt. Wilkens with HPD.
The man was struck in the chest and went inside the McDonald’s for help.
The suspect remained on scene until police arrived. He was taken into custody.
Wilkens says the man who was shot should survive his injuries.

Should have rolled the window down first. No word on charges for the shooter. Yet anyway. Thanks again Gun Bunny.
The essence of constitutionalism in a democracy is not merely to shape and condition the nature of majorities, but also to stipulate that certain things are impermissible, no matter how large and fervent a majority might want them. — George Will

Them Ft Worth doods got with the program of having the trash take out the trash.
No charges…yet…But it is Harris County, sooo…
Ya knew I’d get lost in that Springfield Linky…didn’t ya! “It’s a Trap!”
Speaking of traps…how many of y’all have been caught in this kind of trap?
The South Ft Worth shooting reminded me of this silly little ditty;
Early one morning, late last night
Two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
The deaf policeman heard the noise
And came and arrested those two dead boys
And if you don’t believe this tale is true
Just ask the blind man, he saw it too.
I remember lines 6 and 7 as:
“And came and shot the two dead boys
And if you don’t believe this lie is true”
But a fun one nonetheless.
Seems to me that some dude following a car, getting out of his car, going to the other car and banging on the window is displaying overly aggressive behavior. The problem is the article lacks information as to the start of the issue.
It all has to be in perspective> Was he banging or tapping on the window? Maybe he was trying to get the guys attention about a child in a carrier sitting on the roof? Or something less dramatic like his gas cap dangling on the ground from a cord attached to the car, or other thing hanging out the back.
In Texas, following someone you aren’t friends with is hazardous to one’s longevity.
Then getting out of the vehicle and yelling at them? It ought to be registered as suicide by armed citizen.
All those improvements to the Trapdoor Springfield were nice.
But some came a little too late for a certain Indian fighting General in his last battle. Tsk.
The lieutenant colonel you refer to was killed by hubris and incompetence. Many of his men were killed by iffy ammo – copper folded-head cartridge cases. In a hot chamber the copper expanded quite a bit and stuck , and the folded head of the case was ripped off by the extractor. Known problem well before Little Big Horn… but the Army saw no urgency to correct it.
The Army created a tool to remove the stuck cases. Also, the green verdigris on the cartridge cases sometimes contributed to them being stuck in the chamber upon firing and attempted ejection. Those tools didn’t make it to the troops until long after the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
Fun Fact: I died three times with that LTC in the 1999 reenactment of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
