I was going to lead off with a Happy Easter Saturday – till I read that Easter Saturday is used colloquially  for both the Saturday before Easter and the Saturday 6 days after Easter.  May you all have a joyful (and thoughtful) weekend.

Thomas Sanders – one of the 37 people on Federal death row whose sentences were commuted by Biden in his last “screw you, I’ll show ’em” days in office – was convicted by a Federal jury in 2014 for the self-confessed murders of a woman and her daughter. Biden changed his sentence to life without parole. Not so fast, bucko:

However, Catahoula Parish District Attorney Bradley R. Burget said he will pursue the death penalty for the child-murderer at the state level, which could undo Biden’s act of clemency.

“A young girl witnessed the murder of her mother, was held captive for days, and had her life cut tragically short by a senseless, brutal murder. We hope today’s verdict will help Lexis’ family as they continue to struggle with the loss of their loved ones.” NY Post

Burget took this to a Louisiana grand jury and will prosecute Sanders under state charges.  Here’s hoping that regardless of method (Louisiana allows you to ride the lightning, suck pure nitrogen,  OR get a ticket on the Needle Express) Sanders is sent on his way sooner rather than later. 11 years on death row is cruel and unusual – get him gone.

Oh, the irony. Our own tombstone-toothed Sandy Ocasio-Cortez is making waves by campaigning with Bernie Sanders around big cities (so they can draw Blue crowds) in Red states on their “Geriatric-Pediatric” tour. That may be what it is in effect, his age and her intellect, but they actually call it their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. And how do we fight oligarchy?

‘Cuz NOTHING says we hate the rich more than spending fifteen grand an hour on a private jet. Doesn’t pissing away inordinate sums in playing politics make you an… oligarch?

Darryl Cooper, a far-right influencer who appeared recently on Joe Rogan’s show, describes Winston Churchill the “chief villain of World War Two”.

The theory has its roots in the 1940s, with the inauguration of the America first committee, spearheaded by aviator Charles Lindbergh, and its campaign to keep the US out of the war.

Hostility to Churchill continued with Pat Buchanan, who twice ran for the US presidency, blaming Britain’s wartime leader for prolonging the conflict.

“You know, if you go to 1939, when the Germans and the Soviet Union invade Poland, as soon as that war’s wrapped up on the German side, Hitler starts firing off peace proposals to Britain. France, because they had already declared war,” he said.  The Telegraph

Like a schoolyard bully who holds up his hands if he thinks someone is going to hit him back, right? Sounds to me like Mr. Cooper needs to actually read some history. What an idiot. Sadly, there are people who believe him. I suspect that President Trump, a known admirer who keeps a bust of Churchill in the Oval Office, would not be one of them.
