Police: Homeowner Who Shot Alleged Intruder ‘Did What Any of Us Would Have Done
AWR Hawkins
Fort Worth Police Department information officer (IO) Tracy Carter lauded a homeowner who shot an alleged intruder saying, “The homeowner did what any of us would have done.”WFAA reported that the incident occurred just after midnight Wednesday and that the homeowner told the alleged intruder to leave but he did not listen.
The homeowner’s wife heard dogs barking and woke her husband to let him know something was going on. He retrieved his gun about the same time that the alleged intruder, 35-year-old Jeremy Black, swung a plank and shattered the homeowner’s daughter’s bedroom window.
Black then allegedly tried to make entry through the home’s kitchen door, which is when the homeowner opened fire.
Fort Worth IO Carter said, “The suspect was taken to the hospital he was shot a couple of times…This guy is lucky to be alive. The homeowner did what any of us would have done, we’d wanna protect our family.”

Papa Bear’s no slouch, either. Thanks, Gun Bunny.
He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.

A DRT and a WRT, all we need now is a MIA for a “full house”.
Seriously, though, one has to wonder what is going on in a perp’s head when he smashes a bedroom window in a VERY noisy manner (alerting the homeowner), then tries to enter the house through a (kitchen) door.
i always thought that the idea of burglary was stealth and quiet. Slip in, pilfer a few easily pocketed items, and slip out before anyone suspects that you’re there.
WTAF!!?? It’s like the perps either don’t care, or…..they don’t care.
Don’t bother Claw to spin up the Whiz Wheel on Mr Jeremy Black. Probably get a low score (even with a x5 BLDAM) to go along with his low IQ and low body temp.
What? No mention of taking a “plank” to a gunfight, Tox? A knife to a gunfight is so common that it generally draws a “yawn” but one would think that taking a “plank” would score higher than a X5 BLDAM. I will defer to our Claw Daddy on that. Belly rubs and treats for the fur clad burglar alarm. Kudos to the popo for taking out the trash.
To preserve one’s liberty, one needs to bring the “Pain” to the oppressor.
Who doesn’t love the M14/M1A boomstick? We trained on the M14 and the M16 way back yonder. I actually scored higher on quals with the ’14 than the ’16. Mighta been cause most of my toys growing up were made of wood and metal vs plastic.
Escort duty and a visit to Ms Chancre Mechanic Thang this mid AM. Maybe she will help extend my “Best By” date a few more months.
We had the M-1 Garand onboard plus all the other WW2
small arms. Had the Garands while in inactive Navy Reserve. We had the M-16’s while I was in the NYSARNG
1975-1977.
I didn’t count the plank because he didn’t bring it to the actual gunfight (at least it’s not mentioned in the story). He just used it to bust a window, then (apparently) dropped it to go to the kitchen door.
At least he didn’t try to “she (he) came in through the bathroom window, protected by her (his) silver spoon…”
Had an M1A for many years. Sorry I sold it.
Mount a bayonet on it and nobody gonna get near you.
I may be wrong but to me this is also a feel good story:

That first story is in the same neck of the woods as the “youngest Sergeant Major in the Marine Corps” Ronald Mailahn, better known to the Deplorable Garbage as Gunny Driveway. Hope that the guy didn’t hire Ronald to drive his medical paint around, because Ronald won’t be getting paid.
I would love to add an M1A to the armory.
But my teenage daughter/granddaughter’s bedroom window, and it won’t be a pistol that’ll greet you at the door. Mossy 88 with 00 Buck and multiple reloads will ensure you get to talk to Jesus most rikki-tik.
