Homeowner shoots suspected intruder during burglary in Pettis County

A homeowner in Pettis County shot and killed an intruder during a burglary early Friday morning, the sheriff’s office said.Deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident near Anderson School Road and Shire Lane around 1 a.m. and were alerted to a nearby burglary in progress.
The homeowner reported that an unknown individual had forced entry into his residence.

Police do not believe that the homeowner and suspect know each other.
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. —
Two people are in custody after a burglary and shooting inside a Lee’s Summit home Saturday morning.Police were called to a home on Northwest Chipman Road, south of Interstate 470, around 7:30 a.m. for a burglary call.
The homeowner told police that a man broke into the home and refused to leave. The homeowner shot the man. The suspect then got into a car and left the scene.
Officers later stopped the vehicle and took the two people inside it into custody. The suspect was taken to a hospital and is being treated for minor injuries.
Detectives do not believe that the homeowner and the suspect knew each other.
