An armed California homeowner shot at a group of would-be burglars who broke into his house in a Los Angeles neighborhood Monday, police say.Police say that at least two suspects entered a home in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Valley Village at around 3 p.m. when they were confronted by the homeowner who opened fire and struck one of the perpetrators twice with a semi-automatic handgun.
The other suspect fled before police arrived on the scene a short time later.
Police found the 25-year-old suspect injured inside the home, located at the 11600 block of Addison Street, while the homeowner, who was in the house on his own at the time, was also injured, LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz said at a press briefing Monday

LOS ANGELES – A home invasion suspect who remains hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by a Los Angeles homeowner has an extensive criminal record for burglary, robbery, and firearm possession, FOX 11 has learned.That suspect, identified as 35-year-old Chucks Chuckwudi of Los Angeles, was recently on probation, authorities said.
According to police, Chuckwudi tried to burglarize a home in the Valley Village neighborhood Monday, but he was greeted by that homeowner who was armed with a gun.
It happened on Addison just off of Colfax around 3 p.m.
Sources told FOX 11 the homeowner’s wife had left the house, and police believe that the suspects, thinking the home was unoccupied, broke in through a sliding glass door.
What they didn’t expect was that the 56-year-old homeowner was home and armed.
There was a scuffle and one of the suspects deployed pepper spray. The homeowner armed himself with a handgun and fired several times, hitting one of the suspects.

Or two incidents from the same perp(s).

Sometimes the jokes just write themselves.
Took me a minute, or 12, plus several re-readings to determine if it was the same story…or connected stories, to figure out it was separate incidents in the semi same ‘hood, Tox, before I sent them in. There is a good chance that all of the perps knew one another or Commiefornia perps (a) know that they usually won’t find armed homeowners and/or (b) figure they won’t be charged if they are caught. For sure at least one (1) of the perps realized that it is NOT a good idea to take pepper spray to a gunfight. Is that in The Book yet? That story was considered for The SPoTW Thread. Another lesson one can take from these is to ALWAYS follow the advice that Niccolo gives us.

Is it just me or do the first two stories seem to be identical just told from different points of view?
Amuses me that people don’t realize that when folks can’t get lotsa bullets in a 9 they almost always go for heavier duty stuff like .45s. Ban handguns? In the UK sawed off shotguns rule. Me. I’d rather face a 9 than a sawed off 12 gauge.
