So what does Weisberg think justifies such a declaration?

Preventing a Depression? By driving us into debt deeper than ever before? By creating or saving no jobs? Yeah, that’s pretty brilliant. Remaking our global image…yep. According to Hugo Chavez, George Bush was the devil, but Obama is an ignoramus. The European press is less impressed with him than were with Bush.
“Winning universal health care”? Really? Has that passed already? And even when it does, do you honestly think it’ll look anything like what Obama promised in the campaign? So, by accomplishing nothing

OMFG!! I couldn’t even get past the headliner…If this person really believes what he writes, he must be dead from all of the spiked kool-aid he NEEDED to be blind to the reality of the Pied Piper.
Preventing a depression? Fail! Unemployment is over 10% and still rising. The pork-ulous package was supposed to prevent that, but it went to liberal interest groups.
Remaking out image? Fail! The Europeans know we are about to fold in our obligation to be a counter balance to Russia, the Chinese are carrying most of our debt, and Iran is going to open 10 more uranium enrichment plants.
Winning Universal Health Insurance? Mega-fail! The so called Health Bill will front load savings before they’ve occurred, back load the costs after the alleged Medicare cost savings (quick, name one Government program that has reduced costs, go ahead I’ll wait…)and drive everyone into an expensive (to the taxpayers)Universal Health Care system like the one that has worked so well in, um, eh, er… I can’t think of one. Anyone?

Something to ponder: This supposed life-saving healthcare measure is going to take 3 years to implement. So to all the leftards out there tearing their clothes and gnashing their teeth over the poor unwashed who are dying right now due to no healthcare I ask the question…who gets credit for these casualties in the interim period while this ponzi scheme gets cranked up?
Obama is indeed an ignoramus and Weisberg is a complete idiot, but to be fair, this isn’t an accurate reading of the quoted sentence. Weisberg simply lists those items (“winning universal health care,” et al.) as among Obama’s “most urgent priorities.” He doesn’t claim they’ve been accomplished. He’s simply applauding Obama for picking his battles wisely.
That said, the column’s overall thrust illustrates something very important about the left: They take for granted that a president’s job is to be “accomplishing” stuff. In Weisberg’s eyes, Obama’s first year is poised to be great because of the various government enterprises he’ll have managed to launch. To Weisberg, enacting “big, transformational things” is the definition of “success.”
And he takes this as a given — indeed, he describes it as nonideological observation.
This is why, on a fundamental level, the left cannot grasp libertarianism or small-government republicanism. In the brains of progressives, it doesn’t even begin to compute. They can’t comprehend that for many of us, presidential success would be defined by NOT enacting “big, transformational things,” but rather by merely defending the nation and otherwise staying out of our way so that Americans may relish the individual liberty with which they were endowed.
Even Obama had or does accomplish those things, it’s nothing to be proud of. Holding off a depression today and leaving us with something even worse for tomorrow does not a good president make. I’m also put off by the FDR comparison. People can’t seem to get it through their progressive little heads that he was a terrible president who has laid the foundation for a path to destruction far worse than anything the Germans could’ve actually gotten away with…
Read up on your Keynesian economics. Free market fundmentalism got us where we are today, it belongs on the ash heap of history.
