Slight shortfall in EV chargers
Remember Biden’s trillion dollar spending plan?
I know, which one? This is the 2021 edition, to narrow it down.
Two years ago, the US government provided $7.5bn to create a national network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
The money came from the $1 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, signed by President Joe Biden in November 2021, to build 500,000 EV chargers by 2030.
Mr Biden wants 50 per cent of all new vehicle sales to be electric by 2030 – a big leap from their current 7.6 per cent share of the total US vehicle market. Earlier this month, his administration announced stricter emissions standards for passenger vehicles to help spur that transition.
But getting stranded without a charge remains a major hurdle for many potential EV buyers. About 80 per cent of respondents in a 2023 survey from AP-NORC and the University of Chicago cited concerns about a lack of charging stations as a reason not to buy electric.
Well, all those charging stations should certainly alleviate that anxiety. Especially at the frantic pace at which they are being built in the first two years.
They’ve built seven. Not 700, not 7,000…seven.
The feds say they are taking it slow to avoid mistakes and overruns… I’m pretty sure the current spokeswhatever didn’t come from the F-35 program, no matter HOW much hesheit sounds like it.
The government also hopes that the public-funded charging station rollout will spur the private sector as has been the case when it comes to renewable energy and battery storage. Companies including Walmart, Uber, Zipcar, and the National Automobile Dealers Association have promised to expand their charging networks.
However, still more will be needed, experts have said. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory at the US Department of Energy reported last year that the US will need 1.2 million public chargers by 2030 to support the massive increase in electric cars. The Independent
So if you build it they will come, eh? Troops living in squalor, shortfalls in key amuunition stockpiles…but we’re working HARD on getting charging stations built for that anticipated, what, 700% increase in buying EVs they say will happen in less time than the next good crop of cicadas?
Maybe in the next six years dealers will at least clear the overage in EVs on their lots.

Just how much of that money came back to the Biden Crime Family in kickbacks?
Don’t forget Nancy Pelosi. Somehow he family knows the right time to buy and sell stock that will be affected by pending legislation.
Funny how that works. Martha Stewart unavailable for comment.
Apparently not enough if only 7 have been built.
At least 10% right off of the top!
Just a little… Chicoms be laughing (the hot car for 2030):
Motor Trends car of the year contender. This is the sports model. Seating for 2, but can carry a couple of drunk friends in a pinch with available grab bars (sold separately, dealer installed).
I won’t say what MWR golf course but… escape and evasion is possible.
Another way to control We, The People…and to control the grift into the pockets of TPTB. BOHICA, Taxpayer!
Ooops, I gots to charge on outa here to see my Chancre Mechanic. I may get a charge outa her when/if she does that “turn your head and cough” test.
You left out the quiet part: “Or, we keel you.”
Those that attempt to control we the people don’t snore in our faces.
Screw em.
Jus’ sayin’…
They’re just concerned about the number of chargers available?
I would be more concerned about having to replace tires wayyyyyy sooner than an ICE vehicle. The weight of that battery wears batteries down much faster and wears down roads also.
Or how about the issues with EV fires? Get into a fender bender, one cell is damaged, and then sometime in the future a fire breaks out that is incredibly hard to put out. I’ve seen a video of a vehicle that caught fire on a ship. Vehicle was taken off the ship and put into a container full of water. The car continued to burn for a couple of days IIRC.
Or how about when the EV mandates kick in? I don’t even want to think about the effects of charging exponentially more EVs all at once will have on our current electric grid.
EVs may very well be the future, but that future is a long time from now.
The Chicoms are massively investing in Hydrogen-powered vehicles while merrily selling us this crap, of course
What’s the power requirement for a hydrogen plant? I’d imagine an electrolysis plant would be a hell of a draw. Life would be so much simpler if the climate change cultists would understand that there is no green energy.
But how else could they scare people into Socialism?
Nuclear, baby!
Here’s a couple of possibilities:
https://www.usnc.com/
https://www.westinghousenuclear.com/energy-systems/evinci-microreactor/
These could really work from an industrial standpoint with the production of electricity, hydrogen, pure oxygen, and waste heat. Think of the application in a steel mill:
Hydrogen to inject into a blast furnace, reducing the amount of coke needed to reduce iron ore; oxygen to use in the BOF to process the molten iron into steel; electricity for use in an electric arc furnace and other processes; waste heat for preheating slabs prior to rolling into coils.
The mills around my area have so much vacant land from shrinking their footprint, there would be plenty of room to install these within the facility.
Sounds good to me!
The Westing House is incredibly small and safe.
A commonsense solution to our nation’s energy dilemma (msn.com)
That is because part of their war plans is to shut down our power grid.
Don’t forget that the Lithium is coming from Afghanistan and China and the Cobalt is coming from China and Congo (yes, the same Congo that uses child labor to mine the cobalt).
We seem to be doing lot of business with our enemies so that we can get a bunch of cars on the road that don’t really work very well and restrict movement.
Restricted movement is the goal.
Agreed, but remember, it’s for the environment. Racist!!😆
You’ve got to stop this annoying habit of thinking practically, and channel your energy into thinking emotionally. It’s for the children, you know.
You don’t hear “it’s for the children ” much any more.
Except for “Drag Queen Reading Hour”, or when a child is, or plans to identify as anything other than the gender that they were “assigned at birth”, or if a “minor attracted person”, is explaining feelings.
True
Probably because since Nanny Pelosi was dethroned, nobody’s listening to her.
By 2030 eh…? 🤣
+558% to get to 50% in 5 years?!?
Ain’t gonna happen without massive subsidies and/or crude oil starts to turn bitter by some sorta reverse deus outofsometheretype machina.
Even then the market for, and use of, fuel can’t change drastically without pools of blood resulting from economic instability.
All ready abused by forced adoption of EVs, imagine that half of America paying twice for the other half’s number one asset –their car– in a “cash for clunkers” scheme whose budget will rival World War M Fing 2.
Or, it’s easy to see this as willful intention to….:
1.2 million charging stations by 2023?
Being generous, let’s say that many need to be installed by 31 December 2030.
Starting today (excluding weekends and holidays), that’s 1,676 days, where they would have to install 716 new charging stations.
Don’t see that happening.
FJB.
Should be “2030”, not “2023”.
Global Warming is still supposed to kill us by 2012.
They’re all Dickheads. In the 70’s, the prediction was another ice age within a decade. In the 80’s it was believed that acid rain was responsible for lake acidification and forest dieback. During the 90’s it was the destruction of the Ozone Layer within a decade. And beginning about 2000, all the icecaps were supposed to be gone because of “Global Warming”, and they’re still peddling that dogshit.
Al Gore Junior himself said that the streets of NYC would be underwater by the year 2013 and it still hasn’t happened.
Does under urine count?
And the “ozone hole” appeared in Austin Powers in 1997– 27 years ago:
and the brain-dead morons are still eating that shit up.
Something has to power the charging stations.
Then there has to be loss converting it to charging voltage.
Nobody wants to talk about that.
Same same with the magic heat pumps you see on the side of
homes lately. People believe you can get more energy out than
you put in.
Money for nothing and your chicks for free.
When I found out there is tax incentives for heat pump water heaters I about threw up.
I’d kinda like my Lords & Masters® up in Hartford to make those ‘air conditioner on top of a hot plate’ mandatory so I can go into the real water heater smuggling business.
I have a spare NIB electric water heater in the basement.
Need to buy some spare elements before they disappear
from the store shelves like every other 100% efficient
home appliance. Electric water heaters are purely resistive
loads therefore 100% efficient.
Same thing for my electric baseboard heat. Purely resistive
and 100% efficient. Simple to install and use.
As a retired electrical engineer with two EE degrees I just
shake my head at how gullible people have become.
Just plug your Tesla into a current bush.
My little camper trailer has a heat pump. AC portion is great, heat is great until outside temp hits about 40 deg. Totally worthless after that.
Short version of “green” mania:
I really got charged up from the article and what a jolt I got about the cost of the project.
Revolting, isn’t it?
BOOM, RIM SHOT
“The government also hopes that the public-funded charging station rollout will spur the private sector as has been the case when it comes to renewable energy and battery storage.”
Horseshit. Private sector participation in renewable energy and battery projects was spurred by government subsidies. Now that the teat has run dry, the private sector is getting out of that business. There’s no profit. Capitalism 101.
If this was actually something, regulators would try to keep us from buying it… not the other way around.
Well, this is interesting…🤔🙄
“Does Electric Car Insurance Cost More?”
https://www.usnews.com/insurance/auto/does-electric-car-insurance-cost-more
“Electric vehicles have grown in popularity in recent years, but it can be generally more expensive to insure an electric vehicle than a gas-powered vehicle. Here, we’ll take a look at a few of the reasons.”
“Electric vehicle insurance can be more costly than insurance for gas-powered vehicles due to the expense of electric vehicles and their specialized parts.”
“While fewer moving parts are needed in an electric vehicle than in a gas-powered vehicle, the overall cost of repairing or replacing them can be higher. This is due in part to the specialized nature of the components.”
“Electric vehicles also typically have higher sticker prices than non-electric vehicles, which can contribute to higher insurance premiums.”
“Repairing damaged battery packs – usually the most expensive part to repair in an electric vehicle – can require additional safety protocols, increasing the cost of repair.”
“Repairing electric vehicles may also be more expensive than standard auto repair because there are fewer shops with trained technicians. The specialized service for fixing electric cars may lead to higher repair charges.”
“Electric vehicles are typically more expensive than gas-powered models. Because of the higher replacement cost, carriers may increase the price of full coverage, which includes comprehensive and collision coverage, and other coverages.”
“The high cost of replacement batteries, which can be damaged in an auto accident, is another factor in the higher cost of insuring electric vehicles.
I’ll look for the article and post it, but I recently read that homeowner’s insurance policies are known to increase after an EV charging station is installed in the residence.
(Not to mention the cost to buy a charging station (Level 1 or Level 2, avg $500 up to $2200+), then have an electrician install it.)
Seems that insurance companies haven’t fully embraced the new technology and haven’t been convinced that the charging stations may be an increased hazard to the home.
Not to mention all the vehicle and house fires EVs bring.
Insurance companies sure love that– homeowner’s insurance don’t work unless the charging station’s outside and away from the house.
Speaking of which – a couple of firefighters I know have told me stories about how difficult it is to extinguish EV car fires. The worse instances are when they catch fire in covered garages, with other vehicles in close proximity also catching fire.
I, for one, welcome our new Democrat overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted Director of Media Relations I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground cobalt mines!
Kinda funny how how some of the greenies in my area (within heavy mortar range of the People’s Republic of Portland) haven’t said nary a peep about big plans to strip mine lithium out of Sotheast Oregon.
A Canadian mining company is eyeballing southeast AZ for lithium, right next to a wldlife refuge.
It’s OK, nobody cares about Arizona, and we’re still branded as a “racist state” because Evan Meacham was a douchebag.
He shoulda stuck to selling cars where being a douchebag is a requirement.
Word on the street is that woman owned businesses that sell overpriced and outdated Red Hat Software has great growth potential for douchebags.
His dealerships were pretty sketchy too.
In other words, a BMW salesman. 😜
What’s a little fatal mineral pollution and toxic contamination worse than an EPA Superfund site when it’s for Socialism stopping Climate Change, eh?
Just look at cordless power tools, the batteries WEAR OUT after some time, and manufacturers change the designs of said batteries so you have to buy new tools as well eventually, what’s to say that they don’t already have that planned with EV’s? “Sorry Sir, the battery for your 2023 EV is no longer made, but we can sell you a new vehicle”.
Climate loonies in the Buydin regime’s next goal is to EV the big rigs. You know the ones that transport about 90% of our food products. I believe it was one of our regular commenters (Hondo?) that did an engineering analysis and determined that EV would not work for our trucking system. One also has to wonder how these wackos think we will stop using diesel fuel to run our freight trains.
I read that about half of those charging stations that money was appropriated to construct were already supposed to be completed. So, it looks like only seven built so far makes the whole concept look like some kind of elaborate fraud. Oh well, maybe “The Big Guy” has wet his beak, and the family business has made millions.
Yeah, the electric big rigs have MASSIVE charging requirements. The 15 minute fast chargers for those trucks draw 500 KW to charge the truck to 80%. I can’t remember the exact range offhand for a loaded truck charged to 80%, but it was less than half that of a diesel truck and it really decreased if driving in hilly terrain. You’d have to build a large substation for each truck stop, I’m talking redundant 50 MVA transformers to take you down to 15 KV feeding multiple 5 to 10 MVA transformers to feed each bank of 3-phase, 480 volt chargers. And don’t get me started on the power quality impacts on the grid when from all of the power electronics required to convert AC to DC. But, what do I know…just worked on everything from distribution switchgear, utility substations, generator paralleling controls, motor controls, protective relaying, transformers, and transfer control systems.
There will be a lot of upset people if their produce takes twice as long to get to its destination. That will leave a store shelf life of about a week, less by the time you decide you need some. 4th, or 5th morning delivery will be impossible to meet.
Peta and the humane society will be beside themselves when animals are left on the bull hauler trailers twice as long as needed. Will the “quick charge” trucks stops have separate pens to rest the cattle while you get in line cause all the chargers but 1 are down?
Electric powered cattle trucks will be the end of the 100 mph large cars.
Solyndra2 boondoggle boogaloo.
You are correct, rgr769, it was Hondo that did several extensive breakdowns/evaluations and the entire “green energy scam”. It was quite interesting and factual. I’m not saying that EVs don’t have a place in the tool box, just not now on the scale that is envisioned by the Globalists.
This post from TL Davis makes for very interesting reading. RTWT take about two (2) minutes.
https://tldavis.substack.com/p/corruption-is-treason?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=700076&post_id=143197940&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=agepv&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email
Can you say “Shades of Solyndra”? I knew you could…
Small town nearby funded 100k for installation of chargers in parking lot close to commuter train station. Night before opening, wires and charging cables were cut off to, I assume, fund crackheads.
Now the town if working on funding cameras overseeing chargers and rewiring chargers. They should have gotten a clue after a metal statue in their park cut off at the feet and sold to a scrap yard.
I’m so glad the Utopians are in charge.
The satire derived from ‘coexisting’ in their self-made minefield is a mixed blessing.
Mandatory good vibes drum circles when?
Somebody probably thought of that before the installation and somebody else said “pffttt, that’s just crazy Earl talking”. Earl now looks like a genius. Or a person of interest.
This whole 💩 show reminds me of the worthless projects done in the Second World under socialism, like that bigass hotel in Pyongyang or those make-work projects in the GDR.
Riddle me this, Biden…if this was such a good idea, why isn’t the private sector providing the funding?
