Mansplainin’ to the wrong person
It has been largely ignored, but the House has been holding hearings on DHS, presumably with the aim of impeaching DHS chief Mayorkas. Partisanship is, of course, on full display (after all, the Democrats just know the border is in fine shape.)
Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., told a mother who lost her daughter to fentanyl that she was being “used” by Republicans during a House Homeland Security hearing on Thursday.
Goldman’s remarks to Josephine Dunn, whose 26-year-old daughter Ashley lost her life to fentanyl-laced pills, came during the committee’s hearing titled “Voices for the Victims: The Heartbreaking Reality of the Mayorkas Border Crisis.”
Dunn had been invited by Republicans to take part in the hearing and share the story of how she lost her daughter to fentanyl as Congress continues on with the impeachment proceedings against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
“Obviously, given what your experience has been, you don’t have the background to understand what a high crime and misdemeanor is and how it relates to this,” he added in his remarks to Dunn.
Goldman’s remarks drew the ire of Dunn, who told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Friday that the lawmaker is “unaware about what my understanding, about what my education, what my experience is in any of those areas when it comes to misdemeanors or high crimes.”
“I have my opinions, and for him to assume that I want to just put more money into a system that has had plenty of money placed into it and is still broken is incorrect. Please don’t think for me. I have a brain, I can think and speak for myself,” she told the outlet.

“You would agree, would you not, that it would help to stop the fentanyl trade and fentanyl trafficking from coming into this country if we had more law enforcement officers at the border and more resources and technology to stop the fentanyl from coming in?” he asked Dunn. “Do you agree with that?”
Dunn rejected Goldman’s premise, saying “Border Patrol is now being used to make sandwiches and to screen people and let them into our country. So I disagree with you.”
And whose policies are the reason WHY the law is not being enforced?
Moments later, Dunn added: “I would like the border patrol to be able to do the job that they were hired to do. Every border patrol officer that I have spoken to has told me that their hands are tied by this administration and Mr. Mayorkas. I’ve been to the border, sir, have you?”
Goldman responded that he was the one asking the questions at the hearing.
Hmm, seems to me like his response is pretty weak. You got your head handed to you, Congressman, by someone with more balls than you could dream of having.
Of course I could be wrong…after all, he is a Democrat and may have had an Indian relative get killed by a drunk driver while dodging sniper fire and lost a child to fentanyl, too.

I can say with complete authority, that his background as a Democrat, means that he knows absolutely nothing about what a high crime or a misdemeanor is. Certainly the last 5 years have proven that to me beyond any doubt.

Just a thought, but positing prevention of Fentanyl deaths as the reason for securing the border is not a position that will resonate with most people. It is much more effective to enumerate the crimes committed by illegals, including the mother who lost her daughter to a violent rape and murder by an illegal, who also testified.
The problem there is, illegals have been committing heinous crimes for a very long time and is not attributable only to those coming over the border in the past three years. Any time an illegal does commit a vicious crime against an innocent, i.e., someone not already in gangs or the drug trade, someone comes along asking for proof that particular illegal has not been in this country for several years.
I understand the need to highlight the failures of Mayorkas and this administration. They are after all, legion. However, using Fentanyl deaths as their poster child will fall flat. Another option, one that has been particularly effective, is to turn the border problem into a backyard problem, a la Abbott shipping them to sanctuary cities. Hence, the scream for more money to deal with the consequences of the failed policies. Because fixing the failed policies and holding responsible those who have failed in their duties also means admitting your arguments, ideals and political party have also failed. And we can’t have that.
One would think that stopping illegal aliens at the border just because they don’t belong here would be enough. No. We have to justify stopping them with a myriad of reasons. I live on the border, pretty much since 1990. We don’t have the fentanyl problem right here that other cities do, there’s no market here. What we deal with is “load cars”, dumbasses recruited via facebook and insta by the cartels to drive a load of illegals north. Cochise county had to get backup from several other Arizona counties in order to stop it. These asshats run in excess of 100mph, don’t care about the consequences of their actions, and innocent people are hurt and killed. It all falls on Joe Biden and his revocation of previous policies because “If Trump did it, it is therefore bad and must go”. Sanctuary cities are getting exactly what they asked for, my sympathy level is exactly zero. Hellofa job, democrats. You voted all these illegal aliens right into your backyard. Deal with them, its your turn.

Now, the dem party, otherwise known as the Party of Illegals, wants to give every illegal in Michigan, and those who will come here to get one, a driver’s license.
They explain that there will be something on the license to prevent illegals from voting. I do believe we all know that they’ll go to court to have that identifier removed from the license and/or ID card.

This problem at the southern border is the direct result of Biden’s statement during 2020 that Trump’s border actions were wrong and the illegals should “surge” the border. He said it during a campaign stop; I heard it and so did the cartels and those wanting to illegally enter at the border. His day one actions and policies have created this crisis. Only Trump has the guts to put a stop to it.
It is interesting that the full border wall and rigid enforcement of our immigration laws would have cost about $20 billion, but the regime has already spent in excess of that amount on the NGO’s and other entities to transport and care for the 9 million illegals that have crossed in the past four years. This does not include the additional billions spent by states and cities to deal with this invasion.
I was a CBP contractor when Trump was elected, working at the Brian A. Terry station in Naco AZ. Crossings dropped immediately and drastically the day after Trump’s election. You make a very good point about the cost of improving existing border wall (where most of the money was going) and constructing new wall. The problem is that was Trump’s project, and had to go. It mattered not one whit that walls work. Do they stop everyone? No. But it’s an excellent first line. Technology cannot replace physical barriers and boots on the ground.

It’s not a “One and Done” as to (see what Hack did there?) of one, and only one, specific problem that is destroying America, it is a series of bad decisions by this Administration that have a ripple effect down the line. Let’s take a look, shall we?
With undocumented immigrants illegally crossing into America we have:
An increase on healthcare costs due to “undocumented immigrants” flooding emergency rooms for medical care. Hospitals cannot handle the volume of the increased patient load, and those “undocumented immigrants” do not have the means or intent of ever paying for the service. The hospital can either absorb the costs, which will eventually cause it go out of business, or pass on the losses to the paying patients and insurance companies.
Education: Every child is entitled to a government funded education. School test results are currently dismal at best, thanks to the corrupt politicians and Teachers Union officials diverting funds (stealing) to line their pockets. Now dump a few thousands kids with no prior formal education and who cannot speak English into a school, and what can you expect to happen? Of course, none of these children have birth certificates or medical records required for American students to enroll, but we can just ignore that.
And of course, we get to embrace the diversity that these undocumented immigrants bring to America with their homeland traditions, like MS-13 and their youth mentoring programs of forcing 13 year old girls into prostitution and the wacky way that the cut of the heads of people with machetes.
