Carjacking Suspect Bit by Police K9
A carjacking suspect was taken down by a police canine. For about two hours, patrol cars with lights flashing followed the suspect in a red Toyota Tacoma, until the truck got a flat tire, and he surrendered. It looked like this chase was reaching a peaceful conclusion when the suspect appeared to turn around and start to lower his arms. An ambulance was called to treat him for the dog bites, though police say the suspect did not sustain any injuries.

After two hours of chasing this idiot I would think the Po-Po are severely short on sympathy. T-bones and belly rubs for the happy fur missile.
Police: Man shot dead while trying to break into Essex home
ESSEX, MD—Police have released additional details on a homicide that occurred in Essex on Saturday night.
At just before 10 p.m. on December 9, officers responded to the 1000-block of Middlesex Road (21221) for a report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminarily, detectives believe the armed suspect was attempting to break into the resident’s home. The homeowner discharged his firearm, striking the suspect.

Except for the I-95 corridor and all the DC bedroom communities Maryland could be a pretty decent state. Pity.
Caution.

Maryland has some nice areas, but I’m mostly turned off by their gun laws: NRA-ILA | Maryland Gun Laws (nraila.org), particularly: “It is also unlawful for any person to knowingly transport a handgun in any vehicle traveling on public roads, highways, waterways or airways, or upon roads or parking lots generally used by the public.” I’ve read stories about out-of-state motorists getting pulled for trivial traffic infractions, only to have their vehicle searched (either with consent, or them being held until a warrant is issued) as the police know they have a concealed carry permit in their home state.
Disclaimer: a summary search found one claim from a John Fillipidis about this happening, not sure if there are other instances.
Regardless, despite being born in Maryland and living there in infancy (truth be told, the Eastern Shore is a lot different from the mainland, though), I never desired to live there either time I found myself stationed in DC.
As for the incident at the juvenile detention center, it sucks, but I wonder how the gun was obtained. I spent a few weeks in the old School Street detention center in Richmond just before it was condemned. I was the Token White Kid and there were huge guards/security (probably 300+ pound bouncer looking dudes), with armed deputies at the co-located but physically separate Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. I’d have never even conceived of trying to force my way out. Also, how did he get a 16-year-old female hostage? Even in the mid-’90s, we were strictly separated in that way overcrowded (by about 4x–half of us slept on the gym floor and the other half shared two-person cells, switching every day) old school. There were multiple doors and fences keep males from females.
The kid was born in 2006 and will never experience life, having spent the rest of his in a hospital. It’s about “dat life” for some, and whatever time he was facing wasn’t worth dying for.
Welp, now I know, for sure, one (1) law I broke driving thru Murderland. Wonder how many others I broke. I do know that I broke the spirit of the cooks at the Chesapeake Bay Seafood House when we hit the “all you can eat” special on shrimps and crabs. The manager finally came out and told us, “You’ve had all you can eat!” Good Times!
Not sure if a t-bone alone will get the perp taste out of the mouth of that fur missile Good Boy. Better give him 2.
Wrong house mofo…better rethink your life’s choices. Oh…wait…Never mind.
The fuglyness of the gun pr0n makes one appreciate HMS JMB (HBHN) just that much more.
Oh, I broke Maryland and DC laws, as well as military regulations, on multiple occasions. My Kel-Tec P32 just disappears in a pocket, even better than the LCP Max. I’d make the drive from Richmond at 0300 to get home and take a quick shower, but sometimes would just throw the same pants or jacket on. Get to McNair, change into PTs and make sure I had my keys and ID (conducting a distance run on that installation is boring, though running through DC has its own challenges), then feel a lump. Oops, P32 and spare mag. Tuck those way back in the wall locker and try not to forget them next week (I usually did). DC’s handgun ban was in effect at the time and even unregistered ammo was a separate charge, so I was looking at 16 separate criminal charges (gun and 15 rounds).
in re: the video
Wondering if the perp was a detainee, or just in to visit the girl.
In either case, how did he not get searched for weapons?
The possession of a weapon by a JV is illegal – why didn’t that stop him? (/s – just in case someone don’t catch it)
If the girl was a detainee (seems likely) she also has had some issues with the law – hopefully this helps her rethink her life choices.
The perp, however, is guaranteed to never cause problems again.
I read that he was a detainee. It’s been nearly 30 years, but the facility I was at probably had some security gaps. The new one was itself shut down in 2012, but seems to have reopened: https://medium.com/@warren.walker/the-richmond-juvenile-detention-center-tumultuous-past-but-back-on-its-feet-7563737d9e0#:~:text=The%20destination%20of%20hundreds%20of,operational%20and%20almost%20completely%20restaffed.
The one I was at was covered here: https://dcist.com/story/13/12/23/abandoned-dc-richmond-juvenile-dete/
Where there’s a will there’s a way, but that doesn’t make the kid’s choice any less stupid, nor will it bring him back. Dumb choice, especially taking a hostage, and dumber choice getting shot and still going for that gun. With a good lawyer, he might have been out by age 21 after this, with a few scars and a life lesson, perhaps even turning himself around to help others and make a decent living. Instead, he’s six feet under, already consumed by the worms at the ripe young age of 17.
And, no idea why I think of School St. The older facility was on Mecklenburg, per the article. I think School Street was where my friend with the crackhead mom lived. Those were the days…we went to a very selective public school for “academically gifted” kids from underprivileged families, and he’d chase me through the hallways with a plastic spoon. I got told to “walk and keep walking” by a teacher one day when I was trying to dislodge a snack that was jammed in the break room machine. I ended up walking 18 miles home.
