Police: Man shot, killed after trying to break into his ex’s Gonzales home
GONZALES – A man was shot multiple times while trying to force his way into his ex’s apartment over the weekend, according to police.
The Gonzales Police Department said Tuesday that 35-year-old Joshua Jones of Donaldsonville was initially hospitalized but later died from his gunshot wounds.
Jones reportedly tried to break into the apartment on South Lanoux Avenue late Saturday night, while the victim’s new boyfriend was also inside. Police said Jones was shot as he tried to shatter the bedroom window.

It was not immediately clear whether the deputy being dragged was also the deputy who shot a man.
GENOA, Wis — A sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man in southwestern Wisconsin after he drove away from a traffic stop with a deputy hanging from the man’s vehicle, authorities said.
Friday evening’s fatal shooting occurred after deputies from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office were sent to a residence in Genoa for a welfare check, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation said in a statement.
When deputies arrived, a man was leaving the home. Deputies made a traffic stop but the man began to speed away with a deputy hanging on to the side of the vehicle, authorities said.
A deputy then fired and hit the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.

The problem with dueling in general, is that a skilled and brave bully can get away with much personsl mayhem and abuse under the code.
Also, imagine criticisizing some rich Valor fraud, only to be beset by a half dozen paid challengers who take offense at your comments. Sooner or later, one gets lucky.
There is also the requirement that the combatants be approximately social peers. PVT Schmudlapp can’t challenge his CO. Joe six-pack can’t challenge a billionaire.
Dueling has some real downsides, especially under the traditional codes.
Reworkable? Certainly. Not sure it is a net positive outside fiction.
But just in case, I have a set of flintlock .45s. Call me optimist.
