HOUSTON — Police are investigating a confrontation that turned into a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in west Houston.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. at adjoining apartment complexes on Woodway Drive near Fondren Road.

According to police, a resident at one of the complexes noticed two men walking through a large hole in the fence near some dumpsters. Police said the resident had security cameras installed around his townhome following a recent string of robberies.

After noticing the two men walk through, the resident went out to the dumpsters and confronted both men with his pistol.

“He walked out to approach them and advised them that they need to get off the property,” HPD Lt. Wilkens said. “When he came out, he did have his pistol. Evidently, the two suspects had a pistol as well…they started shooting.”

Former D.A. talks homeowner rights after man shot, killed in possible home invasion

by Tiffany Lane
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The investigation and search for a second intruder continues after a shooting in the Central Vegas Valley early Friday.

That’s where Metro Police say a man was shot and killed after possibly breaking into a home in the 1000 block of Oak Tree Lane, near Washington Avenue and Valley View Boulevard where detectives continue to look for answers.

“It kind of concerned me this happened so close in the night,” said one woman who lives near the shooting who didn’t want to be identified. “I looked out my door and I saw the police.

“It’s scary. I mean, at first, you’re like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But yeah, I mean, nobody wants that to happen,” said one woman whose daughter lives in the neighborhood. She didn’t want her name to be used.

Neighbors are reacting to a possible home invasion Friday morning around 3:30 that leaves them worried about their safety.

News 3 asked them if this is something they hear of often in this area.

“No. No, not in this area,” said one neighbor. “Like the next neighborhood? Yes.”

A person called the police early Friday morning to say they had shot an intruder in their home.

Texas 7-Eleven brawl: Police arrest 5 suspects who allegedly attacked workers on video
Alleged assault began after 7-Eleven worker refused to sell minor a cigar in Mesquite, Texas

By Stephen Sorace | Fox News
Five suspects have been charged in connection with an assault on 7-Eleven employees in Texas after the workers refused to sell a cigar to a minor, authorities said.

Investigators arrested two adults and three juveniles who were allegedly seen on video during the June 3 incident at the 7-Eleven store on Faithon P. Lucas Boulevard, the Mesquite Police Department said Friday.

The two adults were identified as 19-year-old Ahliyah Turner, of Garland, and Kiara Beale, a 21-year-old woman from Dallas. Turner was charged with warrants from another agency while Beale was charged with assault causing bodily injury.

The three juveniles were charges with two counts of assault, criminal mischief and theft.

Too young for smokes and beer? Do what we did and get a fake ID or a legal age buddy. Like Ms. Turner and Beale.

The real problem, both in discussions of mass shootings and in discussions of gun control, is that too many people are too committed to a vision to allow mere facts to interfere with their beliefs, and the sense of superiority that those beliefs give them.

The guy shouldn’t have gone out with a gun.
He should have gone out with a gun and a COWBOY HAT. You need that Texas Swagger to git them varmints to skeedadle without too much gunfarr.

Poor tactical decision making on the homeowners part. Also poor legal decision. He was safe in a “barricaded” position with observation of the people who entered the fenced area. At that time all they had done was trespass. While annoying and a simple misdemeanor, it does not rise to the level of armed confrontation. That puts the homeowner in the position of starting the confrontation rather than reacting to it as well as possibly brandishing a weapon depending on how he had it on him at the start.
