Richardson investigation dead
I’m reading Michelle Malkin‘s Culture of Corruption on my way to work every morning. It’s a good way to prepare for my occupation in downtown DC by getting my blood pressure and my brow furrowed. It’s also why I’m not surprised by things like the pay-for-play case against New Mexico’s governor Bill Richardson dropped at the highest levels of the Justice Department – with barely a whisper from the media;
The decision not to pursue indictments was made by top Justice Department officials, according to a person familiar with the investigation, who asked not to be identified because federal officials had not disclosed results of the probe.
“It’s over. There’s nothing. It was killed in Washington,” the person told The Associated Press.
Can you imagine the hue and cry had the Bush Administration’s Justice Department done the same thing in similar circumstances?

Different president, different rules. Of course, liberal bloggers can waste millions in taxpayer dollars investigating nonsense against Palin, but when the stench in Santa Fe goes straight to the top (as it has pretty much forever) it goes into the same memory hole as the Black Panther intimidation investigation.
Sparky: C’mon, you know that that it is infinitely more intimidating to see a photograph of a warrior holding his weapon than actual people in front of a polling place holding clubs. Besides, it’s much more important to investigate CIA operatives under new rules, that weren’t in place at the time, than going after democrat scumbags and hoodlums.
Didn’t you get the memo?
Yeah, OldTrooper. Silly me. I forgot which side was in charge again. Looks like the Chicago Mob has taken up residency in Washington.
Lovely.
Next up, a Presidential Pardon for Cold Cash Jefferson, and indictments against anyone who ever worked for the CIA. Sarc/off.
I wonder if Panetta actually did offer to quit, I’m thinking he did. And if he thought it was the right thing to do, why didn’t he quit?
UpNorth: Panetta was in their hoping (that hopeychangey thingy)that this was mere talk, but is finding out that Holder wants to proceed with the blessing of the President. Panetta, the Obama dogwasher, couldn’t believe it and is now resigned to the fact that his agency is being thrown under the bus (it’s getting quite crowded under there). He didn’t get invited to a sit down with Obama and Holder over a coldie, which means that “the one” has already blessed the project.
Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if Panetta does resign. Of course, the vapor trail that will be left by all the agency employees leaving will sound like a fricken tornado. Why work for someone that wants to punish you for doing your job?
