Owner of stolen truck tracks it with AirTag and kills man inside, Texas police say

Kaitlyn Alanis
Before a Texas family’s truck was stolen from their home, authorities said they tagged it with a GPS tracking device.

The family was then able to track the stolen vehicle with the Apple AirTag hidden within it, San Antonio police officer Nick Soliz said in a news briefing recorded by KSAT.

By tracking the AirTag, a man and two family members found the stolen truck in a shopping center parking lot on Wednesday, March 29, police said.

“It looks like they tried to confront the suspect who they saw in their vehicle,” Soliz said. “I don’t know if an argument happened, but we know that one of the victims of this stolen vehicle gets out of the car, goes around (and) attempts to contact the suspect in the truck.”

As the man was doing so, he said he saw the person in his truck pull out a gun, according to police.

Elko woman who claimed self-defense innocent in ex’s killing

An Elko County jury has acquitted a 24-year-old woman in the death of her ex-husband after she said she’d been the victim of ongoing abuse and was acting in self-defense when she stabbed him last summer.

Following a two-week trial, Brittany Sue Aleen Figiel of Elko was found not guilty of open murder in the June 2022 killing of 25-year-old Timothy Figiel.

Under the charge, the jury could have convicted her of murder in the first-degree, second-degree, manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter. The jury deliberated for about two hours Friday evening before returning the not-guilty verdict, the Elko Daily Free Press reported this week.

Brittany Figiel said she’d been the victim of ongoing domestic violence and that her ex-husband had threatened to kill her during an assault a week before he attacked her again. She said she stabbed him in self-defense.

Fort Worth man arrested in domestic assault case. Wife used knife in self defense, police say

On Wednesday at about 6:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a home In the 3000 block of Preston Hollow Road in response to a cutting.

The Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar personnel also responded.

Upon arrival, officers learned that this was a result of domestic violence.

Officers found that the suspect, a man, had suffered several lacerations to his hands, arms and legs. The victim, a woman, stated that she and the suspect — her husband — were in an argument that turned violent as he began to physically assault her, according to police.

The wife stated that, fearing for her safety, she grabbed a knife to defend herself and used it against her husband as he continued to assault her.

Thank goodness these ladies couldn’t get to a firearm- they might have hurt someone.

The “you jacked my ride but I got something coming for you” is becoming more of a thing. Car thieves have a bit more moral hazard these days.

The Texas stolen truck case is mighty “iffy” morally, if not legally.
I’m unfamiliar with the track record of the Ft. Worth police with vehicle recovery – I know the Houston recovery rate is pretty close to 0% – so if you’re going to get your vehicle back depending on the LEOs is pretty “iffy”.
So I sorta understand the guys going after their own property – and if the thief pulled a gun, fatal mistake in Texas boy.
And Texas boys (and girls) love their pickups.

That U-tube link is to the song “Pickup Man”… Should’a said.

Kinda like the days of horse thiefs. If ya went an took a steed from someone, an it din’t belong to ya, you wuz jus askin’ t’be shot on sight.

Modern technology…ain’t it wonderful. So is hearing about a dumbass that becomes DRT because of his dumbassery.

I rank wife abusers right up there close to child abusers. Mofos better be glad those gals didn’t have a can of foo gas and a match.

Speaking of which…there’s a buncha politicians that need to be turned into foo gas coated potential torches. They will burn our Republic to the ground, just so they can rule over the ashes.

So good to see the return of gun pr0n classics! HMS JMB (HBHN) grins.

I do not excuse abusive husbands in the least. I also think far too many women stick around long past the point where they should have jumped ship on the marriage and gotten the hell away from the asshat. They risk far too much staying under the circumstances.

I’ve been busy.
I have some data for y’all, take it or leave it, idga fig.
(sorry for the off topic)

Two Hercs left Tbilisi today –which in of itself ain’t strange– but given the recent unfortunate behavior between USSA/NAT0/EU and the RF, a probability of another “‘SMO'” ain’t out of the cards.

There will be a massive ‘pro-democrazy‘ demonstration on a national day of remembrance 09APR.

As the Left continues its campaign to wreck our justice system, and create yet more intractable conflict, do-it-yourself justice will become more common.

I must say, in the last two cases, bringing a knife to a “domestic abuse” fight DOES work. (no guns were involved)
