OR police fatally shoots man suspected in armed robbery, carjacking
No Oregon police officers were injured in the shootout

Police officers shot and killed a 27-year-old man after responding to reports of an alleged armed robbery and carjacking Monday in a Walmart parking lot in Salem, Oregon, state police said.

Police responding to the initial calls at about 9 a.m. then received information that the man, later identified as Michael Compton, had allegedly tried unsuccessfully to steal another vehicle in a different parking lot before fleeing on foot, Oregon State Police said in a statement Monday afternoon.

Responding officers chased Compton to an auto parts store parking lot where police said a “confrontation ensued” and Compton fired at least once at officers, hitting a patrol vehicle’s windshield, police said. Officers also fired, police said, and Compton was stuck and died at the scene.

A Michigan man was shot and killed by state troopers on Tuesday evening after he pointed a laser and opened fire on a police helicopter, according to officials.

The man, identified as a 33-year-old from the Detroit suburb of Lincoln Park, was staying in an abandoned home at the time.

He started pointing a laser at the police helicopter through a window in the house around 8:30 p.m., according to video of the incident released by police.

“We got somebody hitting us with a green laser on the rear of the house, upper window,” the helicopter pilot told dispatch.

Teenager shot, seriously injured in encounter with Tracy police. Here is what officers allege

A teenager is in serious but stable condition after being shot Friday by Tracy police officers. The 17-year-old boy was shot by officers responding to a call regarding a “suspicious circumstance” between two males, according to the Tracy Police Department. A caller reported that a male with a knife was chasing the other individual.

According to a media statement, Tracy officers arrived at 1:56 p.m. and saw the teenager wielding a knife. “The suspect approached the officer. The suspect was given commands to stop and drop the knife. The suspect failed to follow commands as he advanced towards the officer,” according to the police statement.

Israeli police have arrested a 13-year-old Palestinian boy in connection to a shooting in Jerusalem on Saturday.

Video of the incident posted by the Israel Foreign Ministry appeared to show a boy who opened fire on a small group of men walking on the street near the City of David archeological site.

A father, 45, and his son, 22, were injured and taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition. The attacker was also shot by two nearby civilians carrying licensed weapons.

Police arrived at the scene within a few minutes, apprehended the boy and seized his weapon. He was held in a police ambulance while he received treatment.
