Weekend mostly peaceful protests

| January 24, 2023

Well, we had a weekend of mostly peaceful protest in Atlanta, where a group of mostly peaceful protesters saw six arrested, following the arrests of 7 last Wednesday.

Environmental protesters have been upset over the site of a new Atlanta police training facility. One of them, Manuel Esteban Paez Terán, got himself shot and killed by police  Wednesday after shooting one of the Georgia troopers. (“Mostly peaceful.”) Protesters claim Terán was ‘executed’.

Following this unacceptable display of self-defense, more outraged mostly peaceful protesters came in from out of town to, as you might expect, mostly peacefully protest.

Six people were arrested on charges of domestic terrorism by Atlanta police Saturday night following violent riots carried out by Antifa activists who shattered windows, destroyed a police car, and vandalized walls with graffiti.

Five of the six people arrested came from out of state to cause mayhem. One of the arrested, Francis Carroll, was out on bail for domestic terrorism and is the son of a wealthy Maine family, according to investigative reporter Andy Ngo.

National Review via Yahoo

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said during a news conference that authorities made six arrests Saturday and recovered explosive devices after the protesters damaged property along Peachtree Street, a corridor of hotels and restaurants.

Masked activists dressed in all black threw rocks and lit fireworks in front of a skyscraper that houses the Atlanta Police Foundation, shattering large glass windows. They then lit a police cruiser on fire, smashed more windows and vandalized walls with anti-police graffiti as stunned tourists scattered.

The violent protesters were a subsection of hundreds of demonstrators who had gathered and marched up Atlanta’s famed Peachtree Street to mourn the death of the protester, a nonbinary person who went by the name Tortuguita and used they/it pronouns.

USAToday via Yahoo

Aw, isn’t that nice, they told us the pronouns Little Turtle used to want to be called by. Nowadays I guess he prefers “the deceased”?

Too, sounds to me like Mr./Ms. Carroll might have a slight problem with their (just to cover most of the favored pronouns) bond. Violating your bond usually throws you back in the pokey with no bond set – meaning you stay there till trial.  Works for me.

Side note – the confused child (Jared? Riley?) of Katherine Park, the House Democratic Whip, was arrested in Boston after ‘she’  mostly peacefully graffitied a local monument. Oh, and mostly peacefully hit a cop in the face.

Boston police arrested 23-year-old Riley Dowell on Saturday night after allegedly defacing the Parkman Bandstand Monument in the Boston Common with spray paint, according to a police department release, which used a previous name.

The graffiti Dowell tagged on the monument included “NO COP CITY” and “ACAB,” an acronym for “All Cops Are Bastards,” according to police.

An officer was reportedly hit in the face during Dowell’s arrest as some 20 other protesters surrounded the officers, shouting profanities through megaphones and blocking traffic on the nearby public street.

Being the offspring of a Congress critter does Dowell expect special treatment?

Graybeard

Why not? That what spawn of Congress critters always get as their due, because they are above the great unwashed masses.

26Limabeans

Speaking of the unwashed……whatever happened to the
good old days when rioters were simply washed down the
street by Firemen manning the hydrants.
As I recall, some of it was pretty entertaining.

Especially in the middle of winter. Hehehehe

Been saying for two years now, water cannons, water cannons, WATER CANNONS! Knock them off their feet. Wash them down the streets. And a bath for an added bonus.

Antifa – continuing the work of Sherman. And, like him, funded by folks full of hate and venom.

Hack Stone

Saw some idiot on the news defending the mostly peaceful protesters, because they focused their efforts on destroying property, not injuring people. Spinmeisters gotta spin.

5JC

Do you think we should go over and mostly peacefully protest at his house? Do you think he would call the police if it were set alight in a joyful display of liberty and freedom?

I read that Georgia lifted the COVID mask mandate last November, so it seems more enforcement of Georgia Code Title 16 (Crimes and Offenses), Chapter 11 (Offenses Against Public Order and Safety), Article 2 (Offenses Against Public Order) Section 16-11-38 – Wearing a mask, hood, or device which conceals the identity of wearer needs to be enforced more, especially against these ANTIFA fucks.

The elements of that statute are:

(a) A person is guilty of a misdemeanor when he wears a mask, hood, or device by which any portion of the face is so hidden, concealed, or covered as to conceal the identity of the wearer and is upon any public way or public property or upon the private property of another without the written permission of the owner or occupier of the property to do so.

(b) This Code section shall not apply to:

(1) A person wearing a traditional holiday costume on the occasion of the holiday;

(Continued)

(2) A person lawfully engaged in trade and employment or in a sporting activity where a mask is worn for the purpose of ensuring the physical safety of the wearer, or because of the nature of the occupation, trade, or profession, or sporting activity;

(3) A person using a mask in a theatrical production including use in Mardi gras celebrations and masquerade balls; or

(4) A person wearing a gas mask prescribed in emergency management drills and exercises or emergencies.

Graybeard

So, you’re saying if the DAs and Courts would just enforce the law, things might be better?

That’s a novel concept. I approve.

SFC D

Enforcing the law is racist. Or white privilege. Or homophobic. Hell, I can’t keep up without a scorecard anymore.

5JC

The Dowell child also made up their own sexual identity. Seems to be trendy among privileged white kids. You don’t see that on the street much. Kids that actually have to struggle to survive seem to understand themselves a bit better.

Hack Stone

That’s the same kid who (allegedly) told her mother that “the Earth is on fire and we are all going to die”. If the world is going to end, you might as well let your freak flag fly.

Fyrfighter

So we’ve got a liberal dumbass that couldn’t properly raise her own child, and now wants the power to dictate how the rest of us live our lives.. sounds totally reasonable..

Anonmous

Exactly– so she won’t look any different.

Anonmous

Exactly. Such dingbat First World problems just don’t rate in their daily lives.

Not “insurrection” when left/libtards do it.

Deckie

Oh, heavens no!

QMC

The thing that drives me nuts is that most of the agitators and instigators of these events are always from somewhere else.

Send “mostly peaceful” rioters and crowds into their gated communities and see how they like it.

Fyrfighter

Maybe that’s why Commissar isn’t posting? Could be that he’s too busy supporting his fellow terrorists?

Deckie

Yeah the “on scene medic.” Fuckin’ doofus…

To quote Super Troopers, “I’ll believe that when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet.”

11B-Mailclerk

“Medic”, lol.

“Antifa” medics are command and control, and often carry the heavy weapons including firearms. Likewise, to a lesser extent, their “journalists”.

And of course lie about it.

They exploit the tradition of, and “law of land warfare” aspects of, the unarmed noncombatant medic. Thus “unlawful combatants”, who should thus be handled as such under law of war

“That which opposes communism is fascism.” And their supposed buddies and cheerleaders will eventually understand that, as their rabid allies turn on them in turn.

Old tanker

First we need to re vamp the fbi so that it stops being a political tool of the dems. Then we need a new federal law against crossing state lines to commit domestic terrorism with a mandatory penalty of 15 to 25 years, no plea deals allowed. Betcha antifa starts fading away.

Graybeard

Personally, I like the idea of declaring anyone participating in these “mostly peaceful protests” burning, looting, an destroying other people’s property as clear and present dangers to the health and well being of law abiding citizens who may, therefore, be shot in the defense of self and other innocent people.

They don’t mind getting paid to riot, let’s see how they like getting paid to be shot at.

26Limabeans

As I recall, anyone in the act of arson was considered
fair game for lethal force. I’m talkin 50’s 60’s style riots.
What happened?

Anonymous

Wussiness.

Fyrfighter

Methinks that a loudly stated command of “FIX BAYONETS” to properly pre-positioned resources would have most of these candy asses shitting their non-binary britches…

jeff LPH 3 63-66

The act of arson and the others which are in the NYS Penal code on the use of deadly physical force which we had to go over and learn while working for Brink’s and had to take a test and range qualify. If the person was in the process of throwing an incindiary device into a home, apartment building etc, deadly force can be used. If the person is holding the item, it’s a no go. I’m trying to remember this from memory so if I commented wrong, please correct me. Been retired since 2007.

26Limabeans

So it’s a matter of brinksmanship?

How are you going to fix the FBI when pedophile J Edgar Hoover baked in its flaws? Better to take ot all down and start over.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

The problem here for me isn’t that they were arrested, it’s the charging documentation….

“Domestic Terrorism” charges for protesting can be applied to every protester for every cause.

Rioting, property damage, criminal trespass are already crimes. All of which also carry substantial penalties.

When government declares citizens who riot in the street terrorists the government is taking steps that threaten the freedom of all citizens.

Just because we don’t care about the cause that these protesters were advocating doesn’t mean we shouldn’t care about the nature of the government’s reaction and charging because that can be turned against a cause we might advocate.

Government never relinquishes power and always seeks to expand its control over the population.

Reddawg_03

Huge difference between rioting and just protesting.

poetrooper

And once labeled a domestic terrorist by government, the citizen will remain one forever on government watch lists where that citizen may unknowingly be politically monitored forever by unnamed government watchdogs doing the bidding of their liberal political masters.

You are absolutely correct, VOV, that domestic terrorism is a far more insidious charge than any of those others… 😟

Pretty much fucked since the watch list will control their lives for a long long time 🙂

Good job Atlanta. Arrest and charge more please!

5JC

If I’m going to protesting I’m not going to be shooting the police, burning down buildings and looting stores. Unless the Chinese take over, in which case… game on MF’r. Committing felonies isn’t a constitutional right when protesting.

KoB

Is shooting Pantyfa scum during a “mostly peaceful” demonstration considered to be “hunting over a baited field”? Asking for a friend.

I find it more than kind of interesting that the pantyfa maggots never try their crap outside of deep blue locales, likely because their herders and handlers know damned well that there are people in Red State America who want to be left alone and plenty of people there own excavation machinery!

Deckie

A large group of them arrived on City Island in NY back in 2020 — the friendly neighborhood welcome committee promptly formed and told them if they didn’t leave immediately on their own two feet, they would in body bags.

They promptly fled, and honestly if I ever saw a community mow them down I wouldn’t feel the slightest bit of sympathy for the masked cowards.

There’s a lot of calls for Christians to get politically active – as if politicians can save us.
I’d like to hear more calls for Christians to go and make disciples of all nations, all their neighbors, all their community.
Then, and only then, will we see an improvement in our great country – when Christians are truly salt and light.

The Biden handlers don’t care if they eventually lose the lawsuit – as long as they can inflict permanent damage.

I’m sure if the KKK lit up crosses in their yards they’d call it an act of violence on top of a hate crime.

But that’d never happen.. antifa and the KKK are both arms of the democrat party…

That wasn’t “violence,” according to Stacy Abrams:
