Railroad detective wounded tramp trio

“The attempt of a quartette of tramps to murder Detective McNabb of the Erie Railroad and his drawing a revolver to save his life, as reported in a special from Cleveland to the Vindicator on Wednesday, attracted wide attention in this section where the officer is well known and enjoys the reputation of being a brave and courageous man.

“Detective McNabb returned home last night and was seen by the Vindicator on Thursday morning, as he was boarding a train to Cleveland. He was suffering intensely from the numerous bruises received at the hands of the gang, whose intention, as expressed by their actions and language, was to murder the officer for doing his duty in protecting the interests of the company in whose service he has for many years been employed.

“‘The gang wanted my life and they would surely have murdered me had I not used my gun in self-defense,’ said McNabb.

Dozens of Illinois sheriffs vow to defy governor’s assault weapons ban
Gov. Pritzker signed gun-control legislation into law earlier this month

By Emma Colton | Fox News
More than six dozen Illinois sheriffs have vowed to defy a gun-control law signed by Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker that bans semiautomatic rifles.

“Part of my duties that I accepted upon being sworn into office was to protect the rights provided to all of us, in the Constitution,” Edwards County Sheriff Darby Boewe said in a Facebook post.

“One of those rights enumerated is the right of the people to KEEP and BEAR ARMS provided under the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty and property is regarded as an inalienable right by the people.”

Boewe is one of at least 74 sheriff offices that have posted statements in opposition of the law, according to ABC News.

Governor Pritzker stamps feet, holds breath and confesses the sheriffs will have to answer to the voters. Not to his fat ass.

Revolvers: keeping good men safe for 125 years.

KoB

Actually closer to 187 years, but who’s counting? Is nice to know that you saw what we did there.

Dood…she’s no longer into you…but her boollitt is. BZ, Ms Thang…Fight back…no one is going to save you, but yourself.

Pistol whipped and shot is no way to ride the rails. McNabb has some nads.

Good to know that some of the LEOs understand what “Shall not be infringed” means.

The educated idiots are what is going to sink our Ship of State. Watch.

Not sure why I would want that Hall Sweeper…but I do.

KOB, your math is correct. Sam Colt’s first revolver sold to the public was the Patterson in 1837.

Sadly, too many women have poor boyfriend selection skills, and end up needing to punctuate their breakup with some firmness.

Hope she chooses better men next time, but not holding my breath on that one.

Detective McNabb exemplifies the old saying “No man in the wrong can stand up to a man in the right who keeps on a’commin’.”

Fyi, the McNabb story dates from 1899. Nice picture of tha Jamomatic shotgun.

Only 3 County Sheriff’s in Illinois vowed to uphold that new 111 page bill. It was originally filed as an “Amusement Ride Safety Bill” and later amended to a be gun ban law.

Army-Air Force Guy

Let us guess, one of them was Cook County, where the law will have no measurable effect.

Berliner

Correct! Crook County will “enforce” the new gun law.

I assume the gangbangers there will continue to remain safe to blast away. There is big business in Indiana with straw buyers shipping guns to Chicago.

The KSG is a very potent pump self-defense shotgun. This bullpup design carries fourteen shotshells in its two magazines. In 2013, I attended a tactical shotgun class where one of my classmates had one. He frequently had cycling problems with it. The currently produced version is supposedly improved.
