CCW carrier who pulled gun while being attacked at Summit Mall fired shot at ceiling during melee

FAIRLAWN, Ohio — A concealed carry weapons permit holder told police that he drew his pistol while he and a woman were being attacked by two men at the Summit Mall, and he said his weapon fired while he was being tackled. The bullet hit the ceiling, and the attackers fled, according to Fairlawn police.

Officers responded to the scene around 2:35 p.m. after numerous calls about a fight and a singular shot fired at the mall. The man and woman told police they were approached from behind by two men who started a fight. The man and the woman were assessed by the Fairlawn Fire Department and released.

The gun was taken in as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.

HPD: Security guard had several encounters with man prior to deadly shooting
Police said the security guard and the man knew each other and that she had several encounters with him.

HOUSTON — A security guard shot and killed a man after she got off duty from a nearby apartment complex early Monday, according to the Houston Police Department.

This happened just after 2:30 a.m. outside a Shell gas station on Westheimer Road near Fondren in the Westchase area.

Houston police said the man who died pulled a gun on the security guard who had just gotten off work and was waiting for her ride at the gas station. When police arrived at the scene, they found the man who had been shot dead outside the gas station.

Police said the security guard and the man knew each other and that she had several encounters with him. He is said to have been known to cause issues at the apartment complex she works at. There have been several police reports filed on him.

Police said the man saw the security guard at the gas station and walked up to her. There was some sort of verbal exchange when he pulled a gun on her.

A Florida K-9 captured a man wanted for kidnapping out of Massachusetts after sniffing out the suspect from under a pile of clothes and garbage, authorities said.

K-9 Gator, with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, located David Hallaman, 31, hiding from deputies inside a laundry room, Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Friday.

“This is Brevard County, and we don’t play,” Ivey said in a video posted to the agency’s social media. “We will send a dog in to take a bite out of crime.”

Ivey said that Cpl. Lance Behringer unleashed K-9 Gator into the room and showed Hallaman “what happens when you play hide and seek” with the sheriff’s office.
