Search for wanted person leads to fatal officer-involved shooting in Great Falls

Traci Rosenbaum, Great Falls Tribune
The Great Falls Police Department has announced that a search for a wanted man led to a foot pursuit and a fatal officer-involved shooting on Wednesday morning.

At a news conference, GFPD Chief Jeff Newton said there are no other threats to the community at this time. No officers, witnesses or bystanders were injured in the shooting.

Just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, GFPD, Montana Probation and Parole (P&P) and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) were working together as part of the Montana Violent Offenders Task Force to apprehend a suspect who had a no-bond warrant for their arrest.

The subject was known to the task force and has had previous contact with law enforcement.

Just before 9 a.m., the investigation led the task force to the area of 16th Avenue South and 2nd Street in Great Falls. Law enforcement made contact with the wanted person, who then fled a residence on foot carrying a weapon, and a foot chase ensued.

Police shoot and kill Arizona man who they say threw rocks at their cars

Minyvonne Burke
Police fatally shot an Arizona man who they said threw rocks at their cars, but family members questioned why they did not use a nonlethal method, saying the man had a history of mental health issues.

Ali Osman was killed around 6:45 p.m. Saturday in Phoenix. Two patrol units were driving through the intersection of 19th Avenue and Tuckey Lane “when their cars were struck by unknown items causing damage,” police said in a news release.

An officer in one of the patrol units went to investigate and saw a man “throwing rocks towards his patrol car,” the release says.

Police said the man was told to stop, but he refused.

Don’t run from the popo while waving your weapon. You’ll just end up dead tired.

Wonder if a certain Somalian Kongress Kritter will call for a Statue of her late countryman or call for “mostly peaceful demonstrations” ? Throwing rocks only work if they’re launched from a sling, ala the other David…or a Trebuchet.

Prolly gonna be a number of us that are labeled outlaws before too much longer.

Nice revolving hand cannon you gots there Mister. Those things do kick like that (GO) Army will during a certain sports competition upcoming this December.

If the family knew their family member had mental illness, why wasn’t he in treatment since it’s obvious he is a danger to himself and others by this behavior. Seems maybe the city should sue them for the damage to their vehicles. Just sayin…

Welp, we have a two-fer. That is two miscreants the taxpayers won’t have to pay to feed and house in the people pound.
