A female jogger in Florida fought off a man who grabbed her in broad daylight on a popular nature trail over the weekend, authorities said Wednesday.The incident happened around 5 p.m. as the woman was jogging on the Little Econ Greenway Trail near Orlando, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies identified the man as 19-year-old Israel Pagan. He was arrested and booked into jail in Orange County on a charge of attempted sexual battery, according to online jail records.
Residents told WESH-TV that they normally feel safe in areas around the trail but avoid the more deserted areas where park rangers are seen less frequently and areas with fewer options to escape an attacker.

York County deputy fatally shoots New Hampshire man

A York County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a New Hampshire man Wednesday evening in Waterboro.Deputies went to a home at 99 Rosemont Ave. for a reported disturbance around 6:45 p.m.
Sheriff William King said Deputy Levi Johnson shot 30-year-old Tyler Woodburn of Newmarket, New Hampshire, when Woodburn started to struggle as deputies tried to take him into custody. Woodburn died at the scene.
King said he could not provide any other details about the interaction between Woodburn and Johnson and that further information will come from the Attorney General’s Office, which is investigating the shooting.

Sheriff says carjacking suspect shot, killed in St. Clair County

A man police say carjacked a vehicle at Love’s Truck Stop in Steele was shot by law enforcement officers after a chase into Attalla, where he fired on officers before doubling back to St. Clair County, according to St. Clair County Sheriff Billy Murray.The suspect is dead; his name has not been released by authorities. In a press conference Thursday afternoon, Murray indicated the suspect had a history with law enforcement officers. “Felons and guns do not mix,” Murray said, then repeated the comment for those in the Alabama Legislature. “We need support.”
Steele police took the initial call at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, reporting a man armed with a rifle had carjacked a vehicle from a man at the truck stop. The vehicle soon was spotted by Attalla police.

The Little Econ Greenway is a great trail, however there has all too many types of these incidents occurring around it. The OCSO bike patrol could be employed in keeping it safer. Memo to joggers… carry a can of this spray.
