Tampa man fatally shot by Hillsborough deputies after fight at party
Sue Carlton, Tampa Bay Times
Hillsborough deputies opened fire on a Tampa man, fatally wounding him, following an altercation at a party early Sunday. The shooting happened at the Bristol Bay Apartments, 4709 Bristol Bay Way, after deputies responded about 12:42 a.m. to a 911 call about a disturbance, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Two men had gotten into an argument and physical altercation in a parking lot of the beige and brown complex off U.S. 41 south of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, and one man fired his gun more than once. No one was wounded.
When deputies found Jonathan Huertas Reyes, 32, walking through the complex and attempted to talk to him, he fled and they pursued him, Chief Dep. Donna Lusczynski said at news conference early Sunday. When a deputy pulled out a Taser and made a noise with it to get him to stop, Huertas Reyes pulled a gun out of his fanny pack and held it to his head as he continued to walk away, Lusczynski said.
“The deputy continues to tell him ‘Put the gun down, put the gun down,’” she said.
By then, onlookers from the complex were also encouraging him in English and Spanish to put down his weapon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Pretty obvious what’s going on here, sad. Thanks for the links, Gun Bunny.
The Second Amendment has no place in modern society. — Alan Dershowitz
Category: Feel Good Stories, Guest Link
Alan Dershowitz is the arbiter of nothing.
I’ll bet he owns guns or at least has a body guard.
Wouldn’t surprise me if his name is in Epstein’s book of business, too.
So close to a trifecta of DRTs, but hey…2 out of 3 ain’t bad. WW, give us a smile. Complete and speedy recovery for the LEOs.
Little smoke and mirrors with the gun pr0n today, there FIRST Class? Pic above seems to be more of the design to cause a Missouri Boat Ride vis-a-vis whistling “Uncle John” away from his circus act. PVT Sam Watkins of Co Aytch FIRST TN (CSA) never shot at officers during battle. He always shot at privates. Said that officers weren’t shooting at him, but privates were.
Hey Dershowitz, you Dimshitwitz, the 2nd A protects all of the other As…including your A Hole. Why don’t you move to a country that doesn’t allow citizens to own weapons? I hear that China is nice this time of year. Or you could just go EABOD. That ought to keep your mouth busy for awhile.

*sigh*
Some are born cranky, cantankerous, and impossible to please. Some after time achieve a deep and rich state of cranky cantankerousness. Some have cantankerousness thrust upon them. You, Gun Bunny, are all three. Bless your little heart.
I also aspire to such a lofty goal as to emulate Gun Bunny in this worthwhile endeavor.
Is the above Whitworth assault rifle going to be banned also.
If they have their way – of course.
Only if you attach a bump stock.
That Whitworth was a fine rifle, but very pricey. Think of spending about as much as TWO Barrett .50s for one rifle. Yowzahs.
Cautionary note on the article – faster twist rifling does not automatically guarantee better accuracy. Typically faster rifling works better with longer, heavier bullets…but some slower-twist barrels will shoot heavy bullets well. Depends on the gun.
The Whitworth rifle – with the hexagonal bullet and barrel rifling.
It would be interesting, with today’s materials and manufacturing, to see if the same concept (hex bullet & hex barrel) could be made today, and how it would compare with today’s off-the-shelf standard bullets and groove-rifled barrels.
