Brother-in-law with bat credited for helping save woman who was stabbed by ex-boyfriend in SW Houston: HPD
Police say the woman’s sister was also stabbed while trying to intervene
A man is in custody after police said he stabbed the mother of his child and her sister in southwest Houston Tuesday.
Officers with the Houston Police Department were responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex located at 9109 Fondren around 1:50 a.m.
Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they learned that the suspect was at the location and kicked in his ex-girlfriend’s door. Eventually, the man got inside and began stabbing the woman, police said. As the woman’s sister tried to intervene, investigators said she was also stabbed.
According to HPD, the brother-in-law of the suspect’s ex-girlfriend arrived at the location and struck the suspect in the head with a baseball bat.

That should leave an impression.
Father shoots 2 teen suspects trying to rob SUV while wife, babies inside in NW Harris County, HCSO says
An investigation is underway after two attempted robbery suspects in their teens were reportedly shot in northwest Harris County Monday, deputies said.
It happened in the 6800 block of Feather Creek Drive around 12:04 a.m. when a husband and wife were arriving home with two babies in their back seat.
When the family’s SUV was coming to a stop, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the two 16-year-old suspects approached the vehicle and attempted to open the back door where the couple’s 1-year-old child was sitting.
Investigators said the father pulled out a weapon and fired shots, hitting both of the suspects. The wife, who deputies said was driving, sped away to get away from the suspects. The suspects were then picked up by someone and driven away from the scene, investigators said.

KHOU asleep at the switch? Thanks to our own Graybeard for the links.
I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them. — George Mason, during Virginia’s Convention to Ratify the Constitution

Gun Bunny,
Now THERE’S a “hand cannon” for ya. Load yer own powder, too. And at the weight claimed for it (and no wheels), you’d be draggin’ that Dragoon.
Had one, Tox. Well, it was an early (1960s) repro “Centenial Edition” that Colt made before they sold the equipment to CVA. Fine shooting iron it was. And yepper, heavy as all hell and did kick like an Army Mule. Lost that one along with the S&W Model 10 and a Colt’s Pocket Pistol (.36) to that lying, theiving bitch of a whore final former ex. “Stolen” during a “break in”. Replace it with a pair of Griswold Copy .36 brass framed.
BiL got him a solid single hit with an RBI. Too bad it wasn’t a Grand Slam Home Run that made the perp a DRT.
And too bad the punks didn’t bleed out from their wounds. Come on staph infection.
They won’t enslave me. They may kill me but I will die a free man.
Gots any details about the WR train derailment?
They still cleaning up the mess. Looks like the tanker cars are the type that the Frito Lay plant in Kathleen use to haul their cooking oil in. I’m thinking that liqud mighta started shifting when those cars FIRST (ht 2…OH…that would be YOU!) jumped the track, causing them to tip over and a chain reaction. Most of the trains coming on that line run from the Bronson Yard in Macon to Valdosta or Waycross where they shuttle cars to other trains being made up for west coast runs. Trains move at a pretty good clip thru there. GA GOT wanted CSX to build bridges over the tracks and CSX told them to go piss up a rope. Update videos on the linky.

Thanks for the data. Saw it on the news and wanted a real opinion, not a blurb.
Been held up in that area a few times for the freight traffic. Luckily my love for capitalism out weights the frustrations of delay!
Hope for your neighbors they clean it up smartly and no one is hazarded too harsh.
The Houston perp must’a had a hard noggin to survive the “crack” of the BIL’s bat. Wonder if it popped the vacuum release valve between the perp’s ears?
I know there’s wisdom in “knife to a gun fight”. Anything similar in knife vs bat?
“Come out and plaaaaaay….”
(pic didn’t embed-oh well-I think you know the one I mean)
Ever notice we could rename this column to Houston Feel Good Stories and still be 90% factually accurate?
One comment – that 60 grains of powder capacity? That’s about 13% less than a .45-70 used to propel a 405 grain bullet.
And soldiers whined about its kick (so they reduced it to 55 grains powder loads.) But a .45 round ball only weighs about as much as a heavy .38 bullet.
Good on the dad for protecting his own.
TOo bad he wasn’t able to/didn’t apply the Taxpayers’ Savings Shot to the two punk perps and REALLY apply a dose of Chlorine to clean out the Gene Pool. Really? Sixteen y.o.? At midnight? Hopefully the gunshot wounds neutered them to where they can’t pass their Stoopid Genes on to a next generation.
At least it wasn’t a school night
Still prefer the Walker Colt.
Samuel H. Walker had some good specs for that one. Of course, it takes a real Texian to carry that thing.
When my brother was in his prime, a Walker Colt looked like a Navy Colt in his hand. He handled it about the same, too.
That thing’ll make a bad guy flinch, and briefly question his career choice.
