Sheriff calls out DA for light sentencing for hit-and-run against mother and her eight-month-old

Hit and run against mother and child, the driver was high on drugs. (Los Angeles)

Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva hammered a district attorney, George Gascon, for the light sentencing a teenager received for a hit-and-run. While under the influence, and driving the wrong way, the teenager hit a mother and her infant. The mother claims that despite giving the driver room to maneuver, the driver turned right into her and to her child.

From Fox News:

“We were never consulted as we were not the investigating agency,” the Los Angeles official wrote on Facebook and Twitter early Saturday. “Sheriff’s investigators would never be OK with the lightweight sentencing in this hit-and-run case. Stop empowering and encouraging criminal behavior. Hold them accountable #VictimsMatter.”

The teen suspect, now 17, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury and a single count of hit-and-run, all felonies. He tested positive for drugs at the time of the crash and was speeding the wrong way down a one-way residential street in a stolen car when he veered into the woman and her 8-month-old. He had initially been charged with DUI and could have faced other charges.

The teen received a sentence of five to seven months in a juvenile probation camp, which prosecutors have described as “less than a military school and a little bit tougher than a summer camp.”

“As the car approached me and my child, I stopped walking and moved the stroller and myself up against a building on the right side of the road to ensure that we gave the reckless driver plenty of room to pass,” the mother, who asked to be identified only as Rachel, said in her victim’s impact statement. “As the car got dangerously close to us, [the juvenile suspect] turned the wheels in our direction and accelerated as he aimed to kill us.”

Video shows he plowed them over and tried to flee before another driver in a pickup truck slammed into the car and knocked it into a phone pole.

There’s a recall in progress for this slimeball, no?

One of your heroes Lars, from your shithole failed state, you communist prick.

Mason

Yup. Almost as soon as he got in office and started doing what he promised. Same thing with that terrorist-born, terrorist-raise, commie-loving DA in San Fran.

I’ll give them credit for being honest. They said they were going to be soft on crime and not enforce laws. By God, they did just that.

Anonymous

They know their own.

But, but, but…why do they look so organized when Lars assures us they are not??? 😜

For anyone who says there is no connection between videogames and lifestyles, look at this and then change my mind. Straight out of GTA.

Am I the only one who remembers “Death Race 2000”?

Hack Stone

No, you are not the only one. Hack Stone has that film in his Roger Corman box set. Hack purchased it because it also includes Rock And Roll High School.

ChipNASA

I remember this. Same premise.

Watching the CCTV video of this incident, you can see him deliberately veer into them, like he is trying to run them down. Also, he veers to the left to head-on collide with the pickup truck that ended his rampage. He should have been charged as a adult. The deputy DA was on TV this morning; he said the “youth camp” where this hoodlum will serve his five month sentence is more like a YMCA summer camp than a penal facility.

Looks like a good guy with a pickup can come in just as handy as a good guy with a gun… 👍 👍 👍

Let’s not forget that shit like this is what the shitpants leftards want to inflict on the rest of the USA

Seattle got rid of their “progressive” DA in the last election bringing into office a rare republican there. The previous DA did not believe in jailing criminals, going as far as advocating closure of the city jail, nor prosecuting felonies resulting in a current 5,000+ case backlog of felonies.

The main reason for electing the Republican DA was a media study found 118 individuals, aka “High Utilizers” who have been responsible for more than 2,400 criminal cases over the past five years. Most of the charges were theft, trespassing, assault or weapons violations.

Hate_me

The pickup driver should be identified as a hero, despite his failure to beat the living shit out of this living shit.

Did the child survive?

KoB

Yep, more woodchippers needed. Or can we use the same chipper on the perp and the DA?

Well gee whiz, let them loose as soon as you can and then wonder why the crime rates are still going up? They don’t have Donald Trump to blame anymore!
