Huntsville police respond to shooting on 75

Huntsville police are investigating a shooting after a man told police he fired on a known suspect who was trying to enter his home.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Police have yet to interview the shooting victim as he is incapacitated.

Officers responded to the scene around 2:20 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of State Highway 75 North where the caller said he shot a man armed with a knife.

According to Huntsville police Lt. Jim Barnes, the homeowner shot the suspect who fled to a nearby home on Brunch Avenue and collapsed on the front porch.

Augusta man killed during arrest by federal agents in Aiken

An Augusta man fleeing arrest was killed in Aiken Thursday after a car chase with federal agents.

Robert L. Wright, 34, led the agents on a high-speed chase from a Whiskey Road hotel around 11 a.m., according Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables. When the chase ended with “vehicles crashing into one another” on the Charleston Highway, Wright was shot “several times,” Ables said.

Wright was pronounced dead at the scene and his body will be autopsied today in Newberry, S.C. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is is investigating, Ables said.

A SLED release said the encounter that led to the shooting involved an officer with a U.S. Marshals Service task force and an agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

I bought the H&K 45C after I moved down to Florida. Was going to use it for home defense but opted for other handguns down the line. Shot it once at the range then put it in the safe. The gun comes with 1 or 2 spare barrel O rings to keep the barrel aligned with the slide when firing making it more accurite.
