Chester man acquitted of murder in 2019 shooting
Not guilty on all charges, jury finds

By ALEX ROSE | The Delaware County Daily Times
MEDIA COURTHOUSE – A Chester man was acquitted on all charges Friday in the 2019 shooting death of 22-year-old Ricardo “Ricky” Brown after Brown and another man allegedly tried to rob him.

The jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding Andrew Patrick not guilty on charges of first- and third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and possessing an instrument of crime.

Patrick, 35, was accused of chasing down and shooting Brown in the back shortly after midnight on May 28, 2019. The victim died from a single gunshot wound that perforated his heart and lung, according to an autopsy.

Jurors heard a recorded statement Patrick gave police in which he said he was walking on the 2500 block of Union Street when two men came running up, later identified as Brown and Michael Perez. The men were out of breath and he asked them what was up, according to the statement.

The other two men began walking with Patrick in the direction of Wilson Street, Patrick said. At some point, he said, they admitted to having to just robbed another man nearby before Perez raised him arm and pointed a handgun at Patrick, telling him to empty his pockets.

Man fatally shot; initial investigations indicate self-defense

BUSTER THOMPSON
A man was shot and killed in what Citrus County Sheriff’s Office authorities believe to be an act of self-defense.

Sheriff’s office deputies responding to a disturbance at around 4:28 a.m. Saturday, April 2, found 36-year-old Kyle Davis dead near the back door of a home off of West Mistflower Place in Homosassa Springs, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Brittney Carman on Monday.

Carman said preliminary investigations revealed Davis had struck a woman, who then returned to her house with significant injuries.

When the woman’s roommate, a man, tried to figure out what happened to her, Davis forced his way into their home and attacked the woman’s roommate. During the fight, Carman said, the roommate was able to retrieve his pistol and fatally shoot Davis.

by: Michael Prunka
WINDSOR, N.C. (WNCN) – A North Carolina prisoner convicted of murdering a toddler was killed after he was assaulted by “a number of other offenders” Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Semajs Short, 24, was attacked in the housing area at the Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor just before 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. First responders performed life-saving measures, but he died less than a half hour later, a news release from Department of Public Safety spokesperson John Bull said.

Three other prisoners were hurt in the group assault. They were taken to an outside medical facility with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening, the release said.

The prison was under a modified lockdown as investigators worked to figure out what happened. No staff members were injured, DPS said.

Nothing more gooderer after a trifecta of days on Detached Duty, than coming into a trifecta of DRTs…and Justice well and truly served. Glad y’all was able to muddle along in my absence. An after action report on said Detached Duty may and/or may not show up FIRST on the Friday TAH WOT. That is, if the Kong Rat Red Hat software sold by the VP of Media Relations for a Proud but Humble Woman owned Company, aided and abetted by a Proud but Humble former Woman Presidential Candidate doesn’t Rush in a Stoned Hacker sending it thru the servers of a Ukrainian Gas Company, thus giving 10% of the credit to the Big Guy.

Interesting concepts on the Springfield. Pro tip; get some spare breakdown tools, they get lost easily.

I’ll maintain my essential freedoms by providing my own safety, thank you very much.

Handled one of these a while back. It was the rifle equivalent of an all-steel CZ-75, felt like a chunk of bank vault for solidity. Price was a bit high, it was awkward from a standing position, and it was heavy. I still fell in lust – I like serious guns that have some weight.
