By: Karie Herringa
BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Middleville man is dead after deputies say he tried to break into a home in Kent County and was shot by the homeowner.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office says the 39-year-old suspect attempted to force himself inside of a home along 108th Street SW near Wilson Avenue in Byron Township just after midnight on Thursday.

That’s when the sheriff’s office says that’s when the homeowner shot and killed him.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Verdict reached in Valley murder trial: Not guilty

By Kayla Brooks
STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) – After hours of testimony and over 30 pieces of evidence, the three-day trial for a Staunton murder ended.

The jury found Daniel David Mead not guilty in the death of Bradley Maurice. The jury was excused for deliberation Wednesday, March 30 around 5:30 p.m. They returned with a verdict around 8:50 p.m.

Mead had been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Maurice. Maurice died on June 24, 2020 at Spring Hill Apartments in Staunton.

The prosecutors argued there was premeditation, malice, and intent. Murder without premeditation would make it second-degree murder. No malice would make it manslaughter. For Mead to be found not guilty, the jury had to believe he was acting solely in self-defense.

‘He was desperate’

A desperado…

I must have killed hundreds of them with my cap pistol.
One day I shot six of them while faning my 44.

Not to worry Mr. Homeowner, God’s Instruction Book tells the watchman what he is allowed to do when the thief comes in the night. Go forth and continue to do His Work.

Damn shame Mr. Mead had to spend nearly two (2) years in jail for doing a public service.

Prezzy Sniffy is real good at the meaningless word salad, isn’t he.

Got lost over in the Classic Toys linky, coveting all the nice things that my impoverished childhood didn’t allow me to have. It’s all good, my gun toys are all real now.

May be going off the net soon, y’all have a nice weekend.

I remember the cap guns that fired the rolled up paper caps and when fired, the strip of used cap paper came up between the frame and hammer when the hammer was drawn back to firing position and then plastic rings came out that went around the cylinder.

Mattel even made some with plastic bullets – the cartridge case had a spring in it and the bullet snapped against the spring. You pasted the cap on back of the cartridge. When you pulled the trigger and the cap popped, the bullet came loose and was propelled maybe 15 feet by the spring. Real projectiles!

Going to check it out

Just checked out Mattels cap guns. Didn’t realize that they made so many types starting in the late 1950’s
