Bedford DA: Charges against local man dropped in shooting during 2020 Black Lives Matter march
By David Hurst
BEDFORD, Pa. – Charges are being dismissed against a Schellsburg-area man charged with shooting a Black Lives Matter activist in the face in a high-profile 2020 altercation.Bedford County District Attorney Lesley Childers-Potts issued her decision to drop charges against Terry Myers on Thursday – one day after he appeared at a preliminary hearing to testify against Milwaukee native Orsino Von Thurman, who was shot in the face with a shotgun in the August 2020 incident.
Childers-Potts said Myers’ testimony was “crucial” to obtaining a conviction against Thurman, who is accused of firing at Myers. She called Thurman – who has a felony record – a “danger to society” in Bedford and beyond.
“My office needed to make a decision about what was best for Bedford County and what was needed to successfully prosecute the case against Mr. Thurman,” Childers-Potts said.
Myers had faced seven counts of reckless endangerment against marchers at the scene and one count of harassment. An aggravated assault charge was dropped last June.
Thurman was prohibited from carrying a weapon due to a past conviction.
After charges were filed against him and Myers last year, he did not show up for court and was declared a fugitive.

Man arrested after armed burglary, shooting in Draper
By Nancy Van Valkenburg
DRAPER, Jan. 20, 2022 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect is in custody and a woman recovering from a gunshot wound after an attempted burglary and shootout at a Draper residence Wednesday night. The incident began after dispatch received a call of shots fired and a woman screaming at about 11:40 p.m. Draper officers responded to 581 E. Draper Woods Way, and found several adults at the residence.
“When they arrived, they found spent shell casings inside and outside the home,” Lt. Pat Evans said. “They found a rear glass door that was broken and shattered. They eventually found a man inside the home named John T. Warr.”
Evans said Warr had visited the residence earlier and after an argument about money was asked to leave.
“He left the house and he was not invited back, so he was not welcome there,” Evans said. “Later, one of the occupants in the home heard loud noises and glass breaking. He went and got a handgun himself. And John came around the corner and actually fired round off at the person staying in the house.”

Not much “good news” in the section today. Pretty stupid to come back to a house after being kicked out, especially with a gun.
I’m kinda getting the feeling that the only reason Terry Myers is being ‘let go’ is that Orsino “Iamtheone Cino” Von Thurman is a villainous piece of scum and the DAs can’t run cover for his stupid anymore. But that’s just me.
The 3-S’s, folks.

Probably not worth mentioning but Jan 22nd marks the 4th anniversary Dead Dan’s Special Day.
As it were, Dan’s demise was cause for feeling better to so very many people he never actually even met.
