Hillary Clinton 2024 presidential campaign?
There appears to be speculation by some that Hillary Clinton could run for president as her party’s nominee in 2024. A journalist, for the Wall Street Journal, speculated on some conditions that could facilitate her attempting to run again. This includes the possibility of the Democrats losing Congress. She would be able to run as the “change” candidate.
From the Wall Street Journal:
Several circumstances–President Biden’s low approval rating, doubts over his capacity to run for re-election at 82, Vice President Kamala Harris’s unpopularity, and the absence of another strong Democrat to lead the ticket in 2024–have created a leadership vacuum in the party, which Mrs. Clinton viably could fill.
She is already in an advantageous position to become the 2024 Democratic nominee. She is an experienced national figure who is younger than Mr. Biden and can offer a different approach from the disorganized and unpopular one the party is currently taking.
If Democrats lose control of Congress in 2022, Mrs. Clinton can use the party’s loss as a basis to run for president again, enabling her to claim the title of “change candidate.”
Based on her latest public statements, it’s clear that Mrs. Clinton not only recognizes her position as a potential front-runner but also is setting up a process to help her decide whether or not to run for president again. She recently warned of the electoral consequences in the 2022 midterms if the Democratic Party continues to align itself with its progressive wing and urged Democrats to reject far-left positions that isolate key segments of the electorate.
In a recent MSNBC interview, Mrs. Clinton called on Democrats to engage in “careful thinking about what wins elections, and not just in deep-blue districts where a Democrat and a liberal Democrat, or so-called progressive Democrat, is going to win.” She also noted that party’s House majority “comes from people who win in much more difficult districts.”
Mrs. Clinton also took a veiled jab at the Biden administration and congressional Democrats in an effort to create distance: “It means nothing if we don’t have a Congress that will get things done, and we don’t have a White House that we can count on to be sane and sober and stable and productive.”

Given that this came from the WSJ, this has to be a Republican party fever dream.
There seems to be an unwritten rule in presidential politics that you get two bites at the apple, no more. Hillary had hers in 2008 when she failed to get the nomination and in 2016 when she failed to get elected. She’s a two-time loser with the stench of failure.
Not only that, she’s a terrible politician who has actually never won a contested election. the only elections she ever won were the NY senate seats that were wrapped up and handed to her on a plate. The only times in her political career that she ever faced a real opponent she was defeated.
Not only that, she’s a boomer and if the Democrats were to try and nominate her they would face a revolt from within their own party.
So I’m going to chalk this up to “unsubstantiated Republican wet dreams.”

The youngest “Boomers” turn 58 this year, and leftist Baby Boomers as a population happen to not be as “progressive” as those under 40. The oldest Millennials are turning 40 this year, if you use the 1982 start date for that generation.
Perhaps an “X’er,” but even leftist X’ers as a group are not as radically progressive as those under 40. Not nominating a Boomer leaves the option of someone from 35 to 57. Given the divide between new progressives and 1990s/2000s style liberals in the Democratic Party, nominating someone that’s above 45 could “cause revolt” from within the party if they’re not sufficiently progressive. On the other hand, defections and lack of action could occur if someone that’s too progressive is nominated.
We Conservatives, as a whole, are not hoping that one leftist or another tries to run. So no, seeing Hillary Clinton run again is not a “Republican wet dream”. We’re not hoping that Hillary runs again. And, if she does run again, we’ll see that as an additional opportunity to create Hillary based memes.

Here’s a thought: Maybe the Clintons are driving these rumors not because they anticipate Hillary running, but just to bump up the lagging donations to the Clinton Foundation.

The surest ticket to political failure is to start believing your own propaganda. That was the democrat’s mistake with Hillary in the first place. Back in the 1990’s they tried to create this myth of the “Clinton Magic.” The myth went like this: Bill and Hillary were “new democrats” with a magic touch that allowed them to influence politicians on both sides of the aisle and get things done. In reality, the “Clinton Magic” was really just the “BILL Clinton magic.” Bill Clinton did indeed have the ability to schmooze and to tack when he needed to. The democrats desperately WANTED to believe that a woman politician could have that same kind of political influence, and they projected it onto Hillary. They tried to make her into this kind of political “force” who could get things done. The truth, of course, is that Hillary is just another in a long line of wealthy white progressive/leftist women, of whom there are plenty of in Congress. She never had any deft political skills and was pretty much disliked by everybody who had anything to do with her, and for good reason. After Clinton left office the democratic machine tried mightily to push Hillary to the forefront by getting her a nice cushy, de facto unopposed senate seat to burnish her credentials for a presidential run. But she never really did anything of note as a senator (except vote in favor of the Iraq war) and by the time 2008 rolled around, she was beaten soundly by the younger, more charismatic Obama. The SecState gig was a consolation prize but it was pretty apparent that Hillary was seething at being denied what she rightfully considered her “turn” at the presidency. Then in 2016, with nobody else to turn to, she got her wish and got beaten Donald Trump, of all people. One of the reasons she got her ass handed to her by Trump was because the country had had enough of Obama and his party’s bullshit. It’s possible the same thing could happen in 2024. Why would the Democrats nominate a two time loser as likable as a case of herpes?
They wouldn’t… unless they had zero other options. The DNC won’t run a primary contest against a sitting Democratic President, so if Biden were to pass away (at 79, the SSA says there’s a 5% chance of that each year [1]), who are their options?
Sanders was the runner up in the primaries, with 26.3% of the vote. Warren behind him with 7.7%. Clinton at least won a primary, and has ‘name recognition’, but remains a loser, in multiple senses of the word. I frankly don’t know who else they have. Harris? She’ll get the position by default in this scenario, obviously, but I think a case would be made that were that to happen, she has to win a primary for the election itself. She’d stand a chance just because of the empty field, but Clinton could conceivably beat her there.
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see much of a bench. So the only way Clinton runs in a 2024 primary is if Biden were to pass away, and actuarial tables aside, having the best medical expertise in the world on call likely drops those probabilities a lot.
And don’t go around insulting herpes like that, either.

I live in the Midwest in the largest city in my state. We have a almost fully Democratic city, county councils. Are fully Democratic in state and federal reps.
In her last election, she got fewer votes than the congresscritter in the district and the Democratic Senate candidate.
Statewide she got slightly more votes than the straight party ticket vote.
This means people voted Democratic down ticket but voted Trump or third party or not at all for her.
She has not become more popular since then.
