Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from the holiday break.
In a statement on Sunday, the congresswoman’s office announced that she tested positive for the coronavirus after receiving two vaccine doses and a booster shot. The statement did not specify if AOC’s symptoms were mild.
“Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19,” said the statement. “She is experiencing symptoms and recovering at home. The Congresswoman received her booster shot this Fall, and encourages everyone to get their booster and follow CDC guidance.”
AOC’s unfortunate bout with the coronavirus follows that of several vaccinated lawmakers who recently tested positive for the virus amid the omicron surge: Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH).
AOC’s positive coronavirus test comes just over a week after National Review revealed photos of the congresswoman relaxing maskless at a restaurant in Miami Beach alongside her boyfriend just as New York was experiencing a surge in omicron cases.

Wake Forest University did a study in July of 2020 that showed 12-14% of people tested ALREADY had antibodies to Covid, even though they showed NO symptoms…meaning they’d been exposed and didn’t even know it. They concluded that “The findings suggest that COVID-19 is less deadly than originally thought and that the death rate for the disease could be in the range of 0.1%.”
This was TWO YEARS AGO…..Now New York is coming out and saying “A large majority of the hospitalizations from Covid are due to secondary sources (i.e., car accident and were tested at admittance, tested positive).

The vaccines are only 40-60% effective at preventing a Covid infection depending on the one you received.
They are extremely effective at significantly reducing your likelihood of hospitalization or death if a breakthrough infection occurs.
No vaccine is 100% effective for any disease.
The annual flu vaccine is also 40-60% effective on average at preventing you from getting the flu…and reduces symptoms if you do.
The fact that she is infected is not a surprise, she visited Florida recently, she meets with constituents, and she has regular meetings with staff.
Precautions are not foolproof. The entire purpose of the precautions are to reduce the rate of spread so that the numbers infected or hospitalized can be managed without the medical capacity becoming overwhelmed and people needlessly dying.
