CMPD: Officer shoots, kills man stabbing 13-year-old girl in Ballantyne
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer shot and killed a man who police said stabbed his ex-wife’s 13-year-old daughter several times Saturday evening in a Ballantyne neighborhood.
Authorities responded just before 7 p.m. to the scene on Blairbeth Street near Lancaster Highway.
According to CMPD, a man broke into his ex-wife’s home during an argument. Investigators said the woman was able to get out of the house, but her daughter was still inside. The man then held the teen at knifepoint as officers tried to de-escalate the situation, CMPD said.
That’s when, suddenly, the man started stabbing the girl, according to police. An officer then shot the man.
CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings described the incident as almost like a real hostage situation.

A man shot and killed his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend after a second break-in at her house on Friday, Dec. 17, Garden Grove police said.At around 11 a.m. officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 11900 block of Sycamore Lane in Sycamore Walk, a small, gated community of two-story houses along Garden Grove Boulevard near Harbor Boulevard.
They found a man face down on the staircase with gunshot wounds who died of his injuries. He later was identified by police as Jeffrey Gomes, 46, of Garden Grove, the girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.
An initial investigation revealed the ex-boyfriend had forced his way into the house for a second time and was heading upstairs when the current boyfriend fired several rounds, according to police.

Okay; these two sentences tell me everything I need to know about how much I would want to work for that department; which would be zero chance.
First of all, “Chief”; it WAS A REAL FUCKING HOSTAGE SITUATION YOU MINDLESS LITTLE BRAIN FART.
Second of all; the way you “de-escalate” a situation in which a grown man his holding a knife on a 13 year old girl is to put a round through the guy’s SKULL without giving him a polite warning.
