Man fatally shot by police in downtown Cleveland, officials say

CLEVELAND, Ohio— Two Cleveland police officers fatally shot a man Sunday in a downtown Cleveland, about a half-hour before the Browns-Ravens game ended, in what police and law enforcement sources described as a shootout. The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. on East 12th Street and Superior Avenue, several blocks away from FirstEnergy Stadium, according to Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams. It’s the second fatal police-involved shooting this year.
“I think we’re extremely lucky that it was not at the conclusion of the Browns game,” Williams said. “We would have had a few thousand people on the street. And you know, it just shows the proliferation of guns in this country.”
Williams said several people — including two off-duty police officers, one of whom was driving home —reported seeing the man walking on Superior near East 31st Street pointing a gun at cars and firing shots in the air.
The man walked east, pointing guns and firing at times, until two on-duty officers caught up to him on East 12th Street.

Gun bans don’t disarm criminals, gun bans attract them. — WALTER MONDALE

3 up, 3 down. Dang good palate cleanser post-tocktics and too too much ‘burlesque’.
To Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams’ point, “…[some idiot walking down the road, pointing a burner at the general population] just shows the proliferation of guns in this country.”
If there were less prohibitions on Rights and more civically-minded folks strapped you’d probably have more officers on the street instead of riding pine during their UoF investigations, but that’s just me, you stay classy.
What it shows is the proliferation of unprosecuted felons in this country.
“And you know, it just shows the proliferation of untreated mental health issues (and lack of incarceration) in this country.”
Wow. Something I actually agree with what Walter Mondale said.
Nothin’ gooderer than a trifecta of DRTs. A number of us go to great lengths, every day, curry combing the inherwebz, to help bring a grin to our Beloved Wilted Willy’s face. Some days, the struggle is reelz. I guess the FGS was late today since AW1Ed has been making rather merry since Saturday past…or reasons.
Compatriot of mine has an Arisaka that his Papa brought back from the Pacific Theater. Not sure if it’s a 6.5 or 7.7, but he has the complete kit. When asked how Mr. W______ came about having the stuff, his reply was simply, “That fellow no longer had a need for it.”
Story has it that someone once reamed the chamber out to convert a 6.5 Arisaka to .30-06, and when the owner complained of excessive muzzle blast and recoil, it was found that the amateur ‘smith had not change the barrel. Imagine the pressures involved in swaging a 7.62 bullet down to 6.5mm! In a comparison between the well known bots ( Springfield ’03, Mauser 98, Enfield, etc. the Arisaka was found to have the best heat-treatment of all of them.
I received a 7.7 Jap for Christmas 1977. It had been customized with a civilian stock and turned down bolt handle. The rifle was accurate, easy to carry, and easy to field strip and clean. While I loved the gun my dad didn’t trust the safety or the metal. Someone told him the Japanese skimped on properly heat treating the steel late in the war. He traded it for something else. I wish I still had it.
Ooh, ooh! I love a clean sweep, a tri-fecta aka a three-fer. It smells like victory against the criminal mindset.
