Police: Man shot after confronting officers with rifle

Officers acted properly in shooting a man who refused to pull over for a traffic stop and later stepped out of an apartment to confront them with a rifle, Tuscaloosa’s police chief said.

Eight officers were placed on leave following the shooting, including four who opened fire on the man, authorities said. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Chief Brent Blankley said that officers were forced to shoot early Wednesday.

“I am confident we responded appropriately,” Blankley said at a news conference. “The officers handled themselves professionally and with the public’s safety in mind while responding to a volatile and potentially critical situation. I’m grateful that our officers are safe, and that no one in the adjoining apartments were harmed.”

It takes a real loser to be dumb enough to go up against a Maligator. Good Dog, Taz.

“Failure to stop for blue lights”. What is this, K-Mart?

Why yes it is, particularly the self launching chew toy section.

Naw Tox…”Failure to stop for Blue Lights” is a situation where those of us that appreciate good beer refuse to have a Pabst Blue Ribbon or a Bud Lite. ie Blue/Lite See also “Slow Joe”. Follow me for more English Grammar tips.

Pointing a rifle at LEOs is just about as stoopid as drinking “Blue” or “Lite”. The perp’s “life threatening” injuries may mean he can no longer threaten the lives of Good Citizens.

Taz IS a Good Boy. I love finding these K-9 Officer stories. Sent in another one that is a little different Feel Good Story on some K-9 heros down in Flo-ruh-duh. May be a day or so before we see it ’cause, going by a message that our beloved AW1Ed sent me on evening past, his inherwebz connection is going to be as dark as (beat) Navy’s chances of scoring during an upcoming gridiron competition for a bit bit. (GABN) 😀 😉

Walp, got lost over there in the KP-9 linky. Well played “Kid Squid” (ht 2 Poetrooper). An American built Russian firearm. Ain’t modern technology wonderful.

“Blue” “Lite”……….what are we going to do with you, Gun Bunny?
You remind me of the Mark Twain story about raising children….seal them in a barrel and feed through the bunghole. When the child is age 21, everyone takes a vote whether to break open the barrel or close up the bunghole.

In your case, I vote to close up the bunghole.

I do have some criticism.

“Eight officers were placed on leave following the shooting, including four who opened fire on the man, authorities said. He was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.”

They need some remedial firearms training.

Four officers fired and the fact he was hospitalized with life threatening injuries instead of being DRT would seem to be prima facie evidence that more range time is needed.

Malinois all the benefits of a German Shepherd is a slightly smaller, package.

It reminds me of the quote

““Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. They’re aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They’ve got really short hair and they always go for the throat.”

Malinois German Shepherd pairing is similar.

I have decades of experience with German Shedders, does anyone have much first hand experience with Malinois with respect to this particular trait.

Great job Taz, good to know you are keeping my County safe! Who’d have thunk we’d have a marijuana operation happening in our nice law abiding rural county? Wonder if he wants to sell the land? might be nice for hemp. I hear there is a market for that now.

A god belly rub and a choice treat for Taz, I wonder how long he had to lick his hind end to get the taste of the perp out of his mouth?

Could someone tell me how to post a photo file please?

Very carefully…you know how we are. Now, would these photos that should have a staple near the belly button? Precious puppies? Kute Kittens? Plate of chilli cheese fries with a side bowl of shrimps with grits and bacon?

Could get complicated…and highly technical, depending on what kind of machine you post comments from. I am by no means a ‘putor geek; I know just enough to be dangerous. On my HP Chrome Book, I make sure the pic/article/link I want to post is highlighted in the address bar. You do that by placing the little arrow thingie at the very end of the subject and clicking Mine lights up in a purdy Baby Blue. Then click ctrl and c to copy/save. Go to make my comment in the comment space then click ctrl and v to make the post. It may take a personal visit with a 6 maybe 9 hour block of instruction. Let me pack up 3 days cooked rations and I’ll be on my way.

Good Luck! You’ll need it if your counting on my ‘putor skilz.

Could have been a pic of fresh White Lily biscuits if only I were special enough to post images. 😉

Be ye still, my beating heart. Have ham…will travel.

Damn! And I was almost done packing. Curses!!!! Foiled again! Oh well, Navy got to win at something. They sure won’t be winning anything in December.
