Man arrested for shooting toward a crowd; bystander shoots back
A man was arrested after being accused of shooting toward a crowd before a bystander returned fire.
The Fort Myers PD ShotSpotter detected multiple shots fired Thursday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. in the area of Henderson Avenue and Thomas Street near an abandoned building.
When police arrived, they arrested David Williams, 50, after a struggle and holding him at Taser-point.
Witnesses say Williams had “an object” in his jacket pocket that he began banging on a bench – which turned out to be a gun. They say he did it multiple times before pulling it out and firing toward a crowd of people.
One of the men in the crowd pulled out his own gun and returned fire in the direction of Williams.

Not as much fun when your victims shoot back.
These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of men and women. — Thomas Paine, The Crisis, Intro. (Dec. 1776).

Yep, fight back every chance you get. A punk and a crazy man. The world is full of them Always been like that, always will be. And we are STILL in times that try men’s souls. Maybe even worse now than in Mr. Paine’s time.
The gunz reviewer didn’t think that pistol was a turkey, but the commenters played pile on. At 7+ #s of pull, it may seem as if you need a chain hoist to fire the thing. Made me want to go kiss my Kahr K40. I would if I just had some SCUBA gear.
That sixteen year old kid ought to be grateful he’s not pushing up daisies and got a second chance…
And the Ft. Meyers idjit who decided to use his gun as a gavel(Williams had “an object” in his jacket pocket that he began banging on a bench – which turned out to be a gun)?
Sounds like gavel-man is probably off his head-med’s and needs a little Greybar Hotel time…

The report states Williams then threw his gun in a parking lot.
Nobody was hit by gunfire, and no injuries were reported.
Williams faces charges for firing a weapon in public; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – without intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a felon, and resisting arrest.
Williams remains in jail on $23,000 bond.

When (if) I ever get back into buying gunz, I’ll have to look at these Turkish pistols. Same as I’d be interested in Taurus pistols. Inexpensive (but not cheap), and good quality control.
