YouTube user “MSG Retired” provided a new video focusing on Jeremy Dewitte’s claim of going to Army Ranger and Special Forces school during his college ROTC years. This was during an interview that included an interviewer who is an Army veteran.

So I knew two individuals in ROTC (the University of Texas at Austin) in the classes ahead of me (They would have started Fall of 1984 and 1985) who attended Ranger School in lieu of Advanced Camp (if you pass it is an automatic 5 rating for Advanced Camp). The first finally graduated and returned to school write as school started. The second went straight through. I later ran across the second individual in Ranger Regiment, when 2nd BN came and used our facilities while most of he unit was away; and then later when I was stationed in Italy and they were visiting from Germany (he married another cadet from ROTC).
They would have been in 1987 and 1988. As the MSG mentioned, Class 10-88 would have been starting in August (Classes a re numbered by Fiscal Year, with no class starting in December) so not sure who would be just starting in that class. I never heard of anyone doing Ranger School from ROTC since then, especially since it almost made the one individual miss a semester of school.
So in ROTC these would be Order of Merit assigned schools. You don’t get to attend unless you are on the top of the Order of Merit: High GPA, First in class (ROTC) ranking, and they would not waste their one class on a guy who got arrested…instant trip to the bottom of the OML.
Some outstanding cadets went to Airborne School or Air Assault School. Only the Juniors or Seniors went to Ranger School. Only prior service guys went to selection, and most got told…”why don’t you go get some PL time in the regular Army first, thanks for trying…hopefully we will talk to you in a few years.”
It wasn’t just Airborne and Air Assault. There weren’t as many slots but also Arctic Warfare School and as I note below (super rare) Scuba School.
Yes, the PMS is required to run an OML but of course has discretion on who will be sent.
In 1975 there were two members of the Class of 76 at my college who attended and completed the Ranger course summer of 1975.

Cadets did indeed go to Ranger School 1973 – 1988. After that only SMP and non-contracted reservists could still go but it was generally discouraged. The odds of getting injured or flunking were higher than passing Advance Camp. So no, only if he had a time machine.
I know of no program that allowed cadets to go to SFAS but of course reservists could attend. Up until the late 90s there were two Advance Camps. One at Lewis and one at Bragg.
Lucky me was picked up as one of the last cadre to work as a butter bar at Bragg after graduation and was sent to Camp Mackall to live for the summer to evaluate the cadets on platoon operations. They also used the Land Nav course at Mackall. Some ROTC units would go there during their semester FTXs to practice and some Ranger Challenge Teams would go there to train.
If I had to guess douche nozzle was probably on the Ranger Challenge Team. They earned a funky looking tab that said RANGER on top in big block letters and CHALLENGE underneath it.

I never heard of anyone attending SFOC or the Q course as an ROTC cadet. Moreover, he would have had to go to jump school as a cadet. Now, I know someone who claims he went to jump school as an ROTC cadet in about 1970. And I have heard of others who did likewise. But no two year cadet is ever going to get a slot at either of these schools. Anyway, not in the past; anything goes now with the New Woke Army. So trannie Jr. ROTC cadets will likely be attending sometime soon. Those triple tabs will really look good in high school on a rotcee uni.

If you were going to one of these schools it was going to be in your first two years most likely anyway. Your third year was at summer camp and fourth year you were either getting commissioned or going to summer school to graduate. There were some post-camp slots for juniors but not any pre-camp slots due to risk of injury.
The priority was to scholarship cadets but plenty of non-scholarship cadets went. We had several cadets at my school that went to both.
When I worked ROTC our PMS actually was able to coordinate for Scuba slots, I think for the first time, for cadets. I think it only happened because the PMS was a legend in the SOF community.
Cadets would typically go in their second year. The program required a very high level of commitment and there was extensive testing before they would be allowed to attend but we had 100% pass rate.
