Woman kills live-in boyfriend after tomahawk incident, says it was self-defense
59-year-old woman isn’t facing charges, according to Sheriff’s Office
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A Daytona Beach woman told police she was in bed late Christmas Eve when her live-in boyfriend raised a tomahawk over her — so she shot the man to death, she told detectives.
Authorities with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office are now investigating. Deputies were called to the home, on San Jose Boulevard, about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release.
The woman, age 59, isn’t facing any charges.
She reported she grabbed a gun that was next to the bed and shot her partner, now identified as 60-year-old Troy Sorrell.

“If you make 10,000 regulations you destroy all respect for the law.” Winston Churchill
Look familiar? It’s really a Colt SAA in stainless. A Very Large Colt SAA…

Tomahawks? Bows and arrows? Maybe these individuals are like Elizabeth Warren and self-identity as Native Americans.
And the natives are restless…😆
Heh. Noticed that. I’m looking for use of stone spear points and an atlatl next, to complete the trifecta.
Anyone interested in knapping stone spearpoints and arrow points can find it a relaxing way to avoid getting peeved at the entire bunch of liveralls on the left.
And it’s not just a hobby, either: many, many people are doing that and enjoying life again. You get to pound something into a perfect shape for hunting and you can even make use of the shards you produce when you go hunting. They have sharp edges that can be used for skinning deer you hunted.
Daytona Beach. Age seems right. Nah, couldn’t be.
She’s due to get off probation in May. Couldn’t be her.
Nah.
But then again, it could be. And it’s obvious that the other dude was dying to get away from her. Maybe she been a’lurkin’ on TAH and found out you had a weak moment and missed the good times before the full growed snakes in her head took over? Either way, you are better off and living large. And since there is only one side of the story to be told, who’s to say that she didn’t drive him to take a tomahawk to him? Just saying. Or maybe somebody hired ol’ boy to do a “hatchet job”?
And the William Tell wanna be in Noo Yawk? Playing Robin Hood against the Sheriff doesn’t always work out the same way when you dealing with State Troopers. Dumbass. Maybe he’ll get “Overture” and not try to play like it’s 1812.
Nice, real nice, BFR Hand Cannon…and motion picture show accompanying. fapfapfapfapfapfap
“it’s obvious that the other dude was dying to get away from her”
Oh man you nailed it. The biker dude she ran off with was dealing
coke and while out on bail OD’d on his fucking birthday a week
before his trial leaving her with nothing. She then moved down
to Daytona Beach and has at least two dozen mug shots since.
Yeah, he died to get away from her. Same MO.
Like the original Americans learned the hard way–you don’t bring tomahawks and bows and arrows to gunfights.
You’da thought by age 60, ol’ Troy would have learned that…
Did you mean “SAA”? (Single Action Army) or “SSA” Stainless Steel Artillery?
(Grin)
Everyone’s a critique. *sigh* Fixed, thanks.
Or a critic.
😀
The original 45-70 Government was more accurately 45-70-405 a 405 grain projectile of 45 caliber backed by 70 grains of black powder.
I think that defines a hand cannon.
.45 was a medium/smallbore rifle in the 19th century. It replaced .58 and .69 muzzleloaders and some .50 and larger cartridge rifles.
It is still -highly- effective in its intended use.
Marlin modernized it as the .450 Marlin, with modern pressures for modern guns. That is some serious thump.
As long as we are at it, the original .45 Government cartridge had two loadings, 405 grain bullets for cavalry and 500 grain bullets for infantry. Case length determined powder capacity so it was common to see cartridges named for the length, like .45×2 4/10 (.45-90) or .45×2 7/8 (.45-110). The Navy used .45-70 cartridges for line-throwing guns late in the 20th century (may still, anyone know?) which probably makes the .45-70 the longevity king of service rifle rounds.
re: Winston Churchill quote.
I am not a particular fan of Trump (although he is much better than of the other choices) but one thing he did do well was the 2 for 1 regulations mandate.
The amount of regulations at all levels are horrific. Here in my little berg, the City Council passed a ordinance that residents were against.
There were four other ordinances on the books in different sections concerning the same issue and all had different standards and outcomes.
When I addressed the City Council on the issue I said “if you want to ignore these contradictions, that’s on you. Wait until someone gets a case and they clean the City’s clock in court.”
That’s exactly what happened. A group of us helped a woman plead a case before a magistrate who not only ruled in favor of the woman, but berated the City Attorney who had her name on the ordinance as approving it legally.
Politicians care more about the appearance of doing something than doing what is right. Too many regulations.
(To say nothing of the Chevron Doctrine being a farce.)
When will our government enact common sense Primitive Weapons Law reform?
Our streets and schools should not be filled with slings and arrows, tis a sea of trouble.
(I’m extremely very not unhungover, soft you now!, beseech thee and many thanks)
A bow and arrow should have a range advantage over a pistol (if it’s not toy, if you’re not too drunk to hit the broadside of a cow; oh, never mind.)
And 45-70 in a pistol? Ouch. I’d have to lift dumbbells like I was going to play Popeye.
