Changes at Clarksburg VA Medical Center

Clarksburg VA Medical Center

If you recall, at least seven veterans at the VA hospital in Clarksburg, W.Va., were murdered by lethal doses of insulin. Those injections were administered by nursing assistant Reta Mays, causing severely low blood sugar which ultimately led to the fatalities. She has pled guilty to seven counts of second degree murder.
Some much needed change is finally occurring.

Manchin, Capito plan to build on announced changes at Clarksburg VA Medical Center

By Jeff Jenkins

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin was with family on Christmas Eve morning when he got a call from a high-ranking official in the Veterans Administration telling him of changes that were about to happen at the Clarksburg VA Medical Center.

Manchin and U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito have called for the changes both publicly and in legislatively in recent months after an investigation revealed the suspicious insulin-injected deaths of several veterans. Former nursing assistant Reta Mays eventually pled guilty to multiple counts of murder and is awaiting sentencing.

Manchin, Capito and others have been waiting on VA response to such an operation that allowed Mays to do what she did. They got their answer, at least in part on Christmas Eve.

The VA is replacing the leadership at the hospital and revamping some of its operations.

Medical Center Director Dr. Glenn Snider Jr. is being replaced. Associate Director Terry Massey will become interim director until Jan. 4 when VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System Deputy Director Barbara Forsha becomes acting director in Clarksburg.

Only took two years to attend to the problem. That alone is a symptom of greater issues. Read the entire article here: WV Metro News
Thanks, OWB.

-second- degree?

-that- is a crime right there.

She pled guilty. They probably dropped the charges to 2nd degree as part of the agreement. She also pled guilty to assault with intent to commit murder for a patient she didn’t manage to kill.

She’ll be sentenced in February. She’s facing up to 7 life sentences for each of the homicides and up to 20 years for the assault charge.

While a yardarm and rope would be more than appropriate in this situation, the fact she pled means she can’t appeal her sentence. So at a minimum she’s going to die in jail, forgotten and alone.

This is scary, but it also happens in civilian hospitals. When it does, and people are dead, it’s too late for them.

Should NEVER happen at ANY medical facility, not even a veterinarian’s office.

But by VA standards, two years is very quick!

Tirelessly true, but, unfortunately, it is a double-edged sword when it comes to care standards.

Two years to fix glaring problems, yet Kongress Klown Kritters managed to give themselves several tens of thousands of dollars raises in very short order this past spring.

And a proper sentence for the murderous bitch? A sort rope and a tall tree. Tie the noose into a granny knot and cut her feet loose so we can watch her kick as she strangles to death.
