Van Buren homeowner shoots suspected burglar found hiding inside closet

By Brett Rains

A Van Buren homeowner told 40/29 News, he shot a man he found hiding inside his closet after the man became agitated.

“He opened the door to the closet and he actually saw this person looking at him in the closet,” Van Buren Police Sgt. Jonathan Wear said. “He confronted the man that was in his home. That man became combative and at that point he ended up having to fire shots at him.”

Wear said the suspected burglar was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. When released, the man will most likely be facing burglary charges, “He actually had the homeowner’s wallet and pair of his shorts, so we think he was actually in the house trying to steal things from the homeowner.”

As George Costanza learned the hard way, you don’t mess with those Van Buren Boys.

Guess Mr. B&E got his wish. Got into the homeowners shorts and came out of the closet. Guess he’ll be taking short orders at the BTJ&T Deli for awhile…tossing salads.

Everybody needs them a scary black rifle…does it come with the chainsaw bayonet attachment? Can we get some magazines for it? I want the magazines with the belly stapled girls in them.

Hondo

Those type of magazines are sold separately, 5/77. Check your local convenience stores. (smile)

It’ll give ya PTSD, just ask Gersh Kuntzman. And horribly bruise your shoulder and …….things.

While I am sure the Home Owner carefully thought about how to de-escalate the situation by taking careful aim and wounding the Burglar in the leg, I would suggest he take an even more proactive stance! I suggest the home owner Sue the burglar for wasting ammunition, ruining his carpets, possibly his shorts, his pristine firearm (now fired at least once), and causing immense pain and suffering (he has to think about this act, every time he uses his wallet).
This will of course head-off any lawsuit filed by a well meaning family of the injured who don’t understand how he got injured at Choir Practice!

So….was the guy in the closet wearing the shorts or just sniffing them?

That’s a mental image I didn’t need. Thank you! 🙂

26, both, he had the shorts on his head.
