Haven’t had one of these in a while, but considering the long weekend that’s coming, here goes. I was considering posting the weekend open thread today, but many people still have to work in one or a combination of the next few days. Enjoy your midweek and, if you’re traveling, be safe.

Is that a Pecan Pie in the background?
No, that is a pumpkin pie and on the sidebar, a chocolate cake of some kind.
Mi’Lady, not sure, could be wrong, and God forbid I challenge the Queen Lioness of TAH, but…Imma thinking, the pie right behind the ham could be pumpkin (or sweet tater down heah), the chocolate cake to the right on the sidebar, and to the left on the sidebar by the six unit candle could be the pecan pie that 26 is seeing. It may possibly be an apple, but I am leaning toward it being pecan. Trying to blow up the image blurs it out making it hard to decide between pecan or lattice top apple.
We may have to get thebesig to look at the original and make a ruling. Or the ninja. Where is that one anyway? ninja family is conspicuous in their absence.

but imma gonna stick with giant pecans waiting for a dollop.

Welp, I let it sit there for a minute or 2 before I posted anything. Square bidness, I had just jumped into the archives to review when the Open Thread dropped last year. Hondo dropped a Weekend Open Thread right about 1:05pm (that’s 1305 hrs to you 24hr clock types) so Imma thinking is he gonna do it again this year, or will the besig do a MOT or will he do a WOT this pm near 1600hrs. Hit the backup button and WHOMP! there it was, a TAH Open Thread, albeit, a Midweek Open Thread V a Friday Weekend Open Thread or even a Holiday Open Thread. Tho ALL TAH Open Threads are EARNED NEVER GIVEN, the most prestigious is the WOT. It is the ONLY Open Thread that is listed by Claw himself in the Coveted Book of Open Threads. Being as the opening scene of Gunsmoke was coming up, it is only the Luck of My Black Irish Heart and the Blessing of Man Above that enable the King of Battle, THE King of First, to endeavor to persevere and claim this FIRST.
An extra ration of Cheese Grits with Bacon and Shrimps along with cat heads stuffed with Honey Baked Ham and a slab of Southern Pecan Pie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (it’s 75 degrees F here) for all hands. Brandy and seegars in The Colonel’s Quarters at 1600 hrs.

We had our Thanksgiving celebration on Monday at the GB Compound. Having multiple families competing for our grandchildren on Thanksgiving gets us somewhat creative – and the GB Family Motto is Simper Gumby or something like that.
Favorite 2nd Daughter-in-law made a butternut squash pie to rival the pumpkin pie, which was our 2nd granddaughters’ FIRST pumpkin pie attempt – and very good at that.
Favorite Son-in-law did the Turkey, as has become traditional here, as well as a pot of gumbo to die for.
Favorite 1st Daughter-in-law did her squash casserole, which was, as always, fantastic.
Cornbread dressing, green-beans with bacon and onions, mashed potatoes, – more food than we could eat.
AND, for the FIRST time since March, I got in to see my brother in the nursing home. He’s doing well, too. He turns 65 on Friday, so…

Almost spit out my coffee when I read the line that the “SEAL led teams mission was to help Somali build it’s own elite light infantry force”..
