Grand jury rules Keene killing self defense

A Nelson County grand jury declined to indict the man who stabbed Jamie Keene to death in April.The grand jury heard testimony for more than six hours and from at least seven witnesses, including the victim’s mother, an expert engineer hired by the Keene family and the 18-year-old man who stabbed him in what a police investigation indicated was a dispute over a woman.
The no true bill — a legal document returned when a grand jury hears evidence and decides not to levy charges — was released by the Nelson Circuit Court Clerk late Thursday morning.
The Nelson County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office issued a statement immediately following the clerk’s release, saying the grand jury found Keene’s killing was in self defense and that the Castle Doctrine, which allows the use of deadly force if someone enters another’s premises without permission, applied.

Phoenix police: Security guard shoots and kills man armed with knife, possibly in self defense

Police say a security guard shot and killed a man in Phoenix Thursday morning.The incident occurred about 10 a.m. near Interstate 17 and Central Avenue, according to Phoenix Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Ann Justus.
There, an armed security guard shot 37-year-old Shawn King, who was armed with a knife, Justus said. Police did not explain the events leading up to the shooting or say where the security guard was working.
King was pronounced dead at the scene despite fire officials’ attempts to save his life, according to Justus.
Early evidence and witness statements indicate the guard may have been acting in self defense, Justus said.

There seems to be some dissatisfaction expressed of late over the thoughtfully researched and displayed weapons that adorn the Daily FGS post. I am sensitive to the desires of our members, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, but there are certain realities one must face. First and foremost is the limited number of suitable weapons available for display. I do recognize a steady diet of firearms designed by a single source will become stale quite quickly, and strive to keep interest up by presenting weapons of differing pedigree. This seems to be the root cause of the rumblings.
The TAH Grievance Process is well known, and I highly encourage its use in resolving differences. I have even thoughtfully provided, at no small expense, a number system to facilitate the process to ensure all are fairly seen in the order of their respective complaint. Please feel free to take a number- you will be called on in turn, unless of course you have rapidly and loudly departed the area.

Welp, once again we have proven that taking a knife to a gun fight is as futile as trying to file a complaint with the TAH Wide World of Sports Hqs. Must be a real blast to work in that office. Wonder if the complaint department manager’s name is “Helen Waite.”
Something told me to put on my steel toed boots and iron underbritches this morning. For some reason I seem to have teeth marks on my buttocks and a need to see a podiatrist. Not that I am the dirt digging doggie in this fight. Oops, edit that to read, “Not that I have a dirt digging…”
Reckon the Sunday Ms Thang gonna be that angelic vision in pink again? They can be sadistic that way.
I for one have enjoyed all the gun photos.

The Nelson County case must have been strong; for some reason stabbing someone seems to be considered “dirty” whereas shooting someone can be OK.

We carried those M-2 Frags onboard and when anchored out in Guantomino Bay, we had a Gunners Mate with half a dozen or so of those frags and an M-1 Garand in the motor whale boat we used to circle around the ship 24 hours while Med moored to a buoy looking for bubbles coming up to the surface.

Re-read the post as the below attachment. Then re-read the comment. And in particular, READ THE LINKY where the writer of the LINKED ARTICLE compared the Japanese Designer with, again, JMB. It seems as if EVERY gunz reviewer in the world HAS to compare EVERY gunz design in the world to the works of the Saintly JMB, just as in the past Messrs Smith and Wesson was compared to Colonel Colt (who truly made men equal). Mr. (Mrs.) Winchester to Mr. Henry, Christian Sharps to the Rolling Blocks and 1970s Springfields ect ect ect. Now-a-days the comparison is to the Glocks. It is a trend I have noticed. Fugly is not just in the eyes of the holder. Fugly is also directly proportional to form and function. YMMV. This comment and attachment is for those that haven’t been keeping up.

My guess is most who read TAH would not be concerned about weapons shown, maybe unless they never wore the uniform or served in any capacity. Now the libs, and in particular one who lives in the Berkeley area, that might be a different story. A weapon a day keeps the PHD away, or something like that. Something seems to be working these days.
Com’on, a’y’all, as NCOs & Orificers, you know the saying, “a bitching troop is a happy troop” (or similar along those lines).
So Airdale Ed must be doing something right.
And Ed, don’t take it personal. Just keep on keepin’ on. You’re doing a great job, in spite of the whiners and complainers.
