Video: Protesters thrown from Detroit police SUV after climbing on hood

Hundreds of protesters gathered at Patton Park to march against police brutality Sunday, June 28, 2020. The rally was sponsored by Detroit Will Breathe, BAMN, ACCESS and the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation.

A mostly peaceful protest against systemic racism and police brutality in Southwest Detroit took a dangerous turn late Sunday when two protesters jumped onto the hood of police SUV while others crowded around it.

The driver activated the overhead lights, then gunned the accelerator, sending the two protesters flying on to the pavement as the vehicle sped off. One of them men clutched his leg and limped after he stood up. The other man appeared unharmed. Both men continued to march back to Patton Park.

One of the protesters thrown from the hood of the vehicle was Jae Bass, 24, of Detroit. He said police attempted to block the marchers from returning to Patton Park. He tried to lead the protesters through the road block and some of the police vehicles began moving.

Bass said he tried to stand in front of the police SUV to stop it before it endangered protesters.

So “mostly peaceful” is only partially violent? “Mostly peaceful” falls to the wayside when angry mobs block occupied emergency vehicles and participants jump up on hoods.
YMMV.

Kinda like being “a little pregnant”…

the best part is the caption to the photo…

these people are NOT protesting “police brutality”. They are protesting police enforcement of laws.

For some reason, our urban populations have been convinced that thousands of murders, rapes, assaults, robberies and arson per year is just fine and should not be a factor in police encounters.

It is hard to describe just how stupid that is. It is so stupid on an academic or a moron could believe it.

Further, it requires real stupidity–I mean full retard past Biden level stupid–to think that police brutality is the one thing keeping these crime riddled demographics down.

a sheep spends its whole life fearing the wolves, and gets eaten in the end by the shepherd

These sheep do not understand that their “shepherds” are shearing and eating them while the wolves run free in their “pasture”…if that term can be used in reference to the living shitholes the dems have made of our inner cities…

It appears the LEO driving was simply aiding the “peaceful protestor” in reaching his next route checkpoint in a most expeditious manner.

  3. 5th/77th FA says:

Past time to fight back. Bring every weapon to bear. That didn’t look very peaceful to me. Every vehicle I own is like my home. I WILL BE secure in my home, whether it has walls or wheels. I have the right of free passage down the streets that my fuel tax money paid for. You can either lead, follow, or get the hell out of my way.

As long as these thugs are allowed to get away with this crap, the more they will try to get away with.

  4. Bim says:

In CHAZ last night, a silver SUV apparently did a drive by shooting outside the barriers. The “community patrol” of CHAZ responded by lighting up a white SUV, killing one black man and severely injuring a black teen in the car. Then, before the police responded, they rummaged through the car and stole shit.

There is video and audio footage of one of the “community patrol” members walking up to the vehicle and saying “Oh, you’re not dead yet, huh?”, followed a few seconds later by a single shot.

Yeah, I can see why these guys really need to push for defunding the police.

  5. Ret_25X says:

    I care so little.

After $55 TRILLION in “great society” benefits…Nearly $5 TRILLION in state level spending…and countless trillions in community grants and forgiven bonds…we are still hearing about how nobody loves them and nobody does anything for them.

These ingrates can all go to hell on a shutter.

It is time to end all welfare subsidies and payments. Replace them with a right to work law.

    no workie…no eatie…

    So simple, yet effective.

And best of all? That is right out of their holy scripture Das Kapital.

    Assholes.

    • Ret_25X says:

      to add to the rant….

Those who are protesting are acting like they think they are in congress or a defense contractor with their constant displays of privilege, hostility. Add in the complete lack of value delivered to the taxpayer and you have to wonder if they imagine themselves to be downtrodden or elected.

  6. USMC Steve says:

The protester’s version of reality does not match up with reality. They swarmed the cop cars, and when they jumped on them the cops drove through them. I would have done that too. They were acting in a hostile and aggressive manner.

  7. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

When your “peaceful protest” becomes nothing more than swarming cars with crowds and climbing on the vehicles are those inside supposed to sit there and wait to see if you intend to remain “peaceful”?

I have two large vehicles with four wheel drive for a reason. I have no intention of being stuck anywhere waiting to be dragged out and beaten. If you approach my vehicle in a crowd with masks and signs and blunt objects I’ll give you a courtesy horn honk….then it’s switch into four wheel and run your ass over.

I’ll take my chances in a courtroom long before I take my chances in a “peaceful” protest gone wrong.

    • Duane says:

^^This^^. I’m with you all the way, VOV. You want to protest – fine. The second you step in front of me in my car, you are a target and I’m going to protect me and mine in the most expedient way.

Tampa had a similar situation a few weeks ago. Sanity has prevailed for the moment.

Doctor: Good news, Mr. Smith. I am happy to report that you are mostly cancer free.

Mr. Smith: So, I don’t have cancer?

Doctor: Umm, now I would not got so far as to say that.

    Fun times hood surfing though.

    D – R – D
    Repeat as needed.
    Ignore bump noises below vehicle.

  13. Ex-PH2 says:

An entire generation of spoiled brats on display in so many places. Am I being too twitty if I make a connection between these rampages and the shutdown caused by CV19?

Sorry, but I can’t generate any sympathy for this bunch of yo-yos, or for whatever happens to those slobs in Seattle. Winter will be here soon enough. Even Seattle, which has a somewhat mild climate, may be hit quite hard this time. IF I can remember who the weather god is (I think it’s Uranus), I will see what I can do to make cold weather especially hard on protesters, come the cold season. 🙂

“Protestors” my ass, all I saw was undisciplined PUNKS getting their asses handed to them!

They can look between $hit and syphilis for sympathy.

  18. QMC says:

I love how all of these narrative driven news media types all start their stories off the same.

    “Mostly peaceful protests”

Sure. The world was also mostly peaceful in 1914-1918.

  19. George V says:

Adding to the insanity, the morning papers here in Detroit reported that the activists are demanding the officer be fired and the Chief resign.

So far the Chief, Daniel Craig, is holding the line, saying that the officers were in fear of being shot and their actions were justified. He has been a straight-up good guy for the several years he’s been Chief in Detroit, even saying residents who want to arm themselves against burglars are OK with him.

  20. Robert Szrama says:

Is this a new variant of your feel good stories?
