Law enforcement’s pursuit of a suspect ended with an ambush that involved gunfire and explosives. A deputy was killed, another was injured, and a member of the California Highway Patrol was shot in the hand.

From the Washington Times:

The deputies responded to a 911 call around 1:30 p.m. about a suspicious van. The caller said there were guns and bomb-making devices inside, Hart said.

When deputies arrived, the van pulled away and the deputies followed. The van went down a driveway at Carrillo’s home and the deputies were ambushed by gunfire and explosives after getting out of their vehicle.

Gutzwiller was wounded and later died at a hospital. Another deputy was wounded by gunfire or shrapnel and struck by a vehicle as the suspect fled.

Carrillo attempted to carjack a vehicle and was wounded while being arrested.

Meanwhile, in Richmond Virginia, protesters pulled down a Confederate statue. The protest started as peaceful and nonviolent. However, a group decided to utilize ropes to pull the statue down. The statue had been in the state park since 1891.

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

After a day and evening of peaceful protests and marches in Richmond and its suburbs, protesters using ropes pulled down a statue honoring Confederate Gen. Williams Carter Wickham, which has stood in the park since 1891.

Most of the protesters who had marched through the city Saturday night had already dispersed when the statue was taken down. After it fell, one person urinated on the statue and then ran away.

About an hour after the incident in Monroe Park, nearly 40 cars were seen surrounding the Lee statue, blocking traffic along Monument Avenue.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch provides the article and photos here.

Protests in Seattle turned violent as demonstrators threw rocks, bottles, and explosives at them. In response, the cops utilized pepper spray and flash bangs to disperse the crowd.

From the Washington Times:

A small group of protesters started throwing objects at officers about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said, and the crowd was ordered to disperse. Incendiary devices were then used.

After police were severely criticized by protesters and public officials alike for using tear gas and pepper spray to disperse largely peaceful crowds, Durkan and Best said Friday outside groups would review and update crowd-control policies, including the use of pepper spray and deadly force techniques such as neck and choke holds. She and the mayor added that the ban on one kind of tear gas known as CS could be extended if groups need more time for policy review.

The article goes on to mentions that medical staff marched from the medical center to City Hall. They were demonstrating in support of black victims. One nurse claims that the George Floyd video “Woke White America up” to what is really going on.

I don’t think that this nurse understands “White America’s” disapproval of that action. Conservative whites, along with other conservatives, see that as the action of an errant police officer… Not the symptom of “systematic racism”. The Washington Times has the article here.

Zero in on the “evil white guys” instead of focusing on the facts. A specific segment of the population is responsible for a hefty percentage of the crimes and killings. (The Donald Win)

in Chicago, white men decided to conduct a neighborhood watch armed with bats. Considering that the Chicago police are busy, and given the track record of crimes and shootings in the city, one could emphasize with those doing guard shifts with bats.

However, Mayor Lightfoot made a statement about this specific neighborhood watch. She indicated that she would not tolerate vigilantism.

From MSN:

Asked about the situation in Bridgeport, a diversifying neighborhood that served as an Irish American power base for the Daley political family, Lightfoot said, “It is absolutely not appropriate for people to take up arms, bats, pipes, whatever in patrolling neighborhoods.”

“We’ve seen that end with tragic results across the country and we’re not about to allow that practice to happen here in Chicago. If there’s an issue, call 911,” Lightfoot said. “I absolutely support neighbors being vigilant as to what’s going on on the streets and in their blocks but taking up arms, that leads to chaos and we’re not supporting vigilantism in the city of Chicago under any circumstances.”

The situation in Bridgeport frightened and angered many residents and activists who expressed concerns about racism and violence.

Well, there is nothing wrong with making your neighborhood a challenging target. One that brings risks should certain groups have “any ideas”. They would just move on to other areas that would be easier to victimize. MSN has more here.

IEDs?! Really?!?!

Seems the cold civil war might be starting to get hot. Hope it doesn’t progress to where we were in 1861.

My thoughts go to the family of the murdered deputy. Hope they make the perpetrator pay.

The bomb builder is a active duty Airforce gate guard.

I’m trying real hard to not let this crap make me mad. How’s that working out? Not too good! Quit destroying history.

Maybe when we finally get rid of all the racyss white folk and those oppressing statues, we will finally have peace with honor in our time. /s/

It’s like they had a “little red playbook” or something…

Cultural Revolution something.

Lightfoot is turning out to be as inept as a control freak can get. She wants to be “all things to all people” but when the chips are down, she can’t manage it. Not anticipating a repeat of the 1960s riots was her biggest error. She spends more time on cutesy commercials about ‘stay home, save lives’ than she does on managing the city and the real problems.

She was invisible when there were fires set on State Street, ruining businesses of all kinds that had been there for decades, before she was even an egg in an ovary.

Glad I don’t live there any more. Also glad I can pick it up online, even at this distance. I can also pick up my old home town online, which is several hundred miles further away than Cheecago.

I think that the guy who killed the Sheriffs deputy was active Air Force but not sure if I heard it right a half hour ago on fox news.

Statues are not history,

They are propaganda,

We need to be honest about our history. Statues glorify without regard to the facts.

There are plenty of places for statues of some of our more substantially flawed historical figures; put their statues in museums.

The public square should be reserved for statues of our greatest, most honorable, and most worthy citizens.

Sapper3307

David Dorn,,say his name if BLM.

SEAL TWO

I agree that “the public square should be reserved for statues of our greatest, most honorable, and most worthy citizens…” That is why those statues memorializing our Confederate forefathers were erected in Southern communities throughout the South in the first place. I guess they’ll now have to be replaced by a memorial to a Black drug addict who happened to have been killed (?) by a stupid cop.

rgr769

He was so much more than a drug addict. He was a five times convicted hood rat who did five years in prison for a home invasion robbery where he held the muzzle of his gun to the belly and head of a pregnant woman. This brave bastard took her on with five of his homies in a search for drugs and money that weren’t there. That was his real legacy.

tommer

Also a rapist, but that’s a resume enhancer in dem circles. They couldn’t have picked a bigger scumbag to be their hero. What the hell are they teaching in our schools?

Just Lurkin

“The public square should be reserved for statues of our greatest, most honorable, and most worthy citizens.”

It’s funny how that works in practice, here in my little NC hometown we have two statues at the old courthouse-a generic Confederate soldier to represent the hundreds from this town who died during the war and a very prominent U.S. Senator (a Democrat). The Senator was a staunch segregationist who at one point in his legal career wrote a brief that gave legal cover for a lynching. Now there has been some talk of moving or taking down the soldier, which I think would be a shame, but I suspect that if that happens the Senator won’t stay around for very long. Frankly I think it’s fine if both stay and people know all about the complicated history involving both, but I’m open minded like that.

SFC D

So explain the statue of James Brown in Augusta GA. Propaganda? Whose propaganda? He might have been “The Hardest Working Man in Showbusiness” but he was a serial spouse abuser. Should his statue be pulled down by battered women? Keep squawking.

rgr769

He also stiffed his ex-wife for child and spousal support for many years. A lawer I worked with went after him on multiple occasions attempting to collect for her.

NHSparky

Cool. That means we can pull down the statues of Lenin in Seattle, et al?

After all, they’re just propaganda.

Jesus, being a dipshit is easier for you than breathing.

Roh-Dog

Lets be real here, Lenin, and by extension Marx, did more for these States United than ANY Confederate General, WW2 Vet or President!!
I stand with Comrade Stinky Pinky!!
I stand with the United Workers’ Collective for Equality and Justicing Against the Machine!!
Better Red and Dead, am I RIGHT?!?

I’ve changed affiliations with a new group. I suggest you join before we find you!!!
Collective Uprising, Never Tiring, For All Communistic Entities.
Ever since I’ve heard of [the group] and read their manifesto, I feel like I’ve always been a [member of that group]. And the meetings are a hoot! Lots of portraits of people painted as flowers on the wall, weird, other than that, and the slightly odd hairy countenance of some of the members, one has a heart-shaped beard! Another waxed completely hairless! Some people….
Anywho… come join us at Susie’s Fish Fry down by the wharf, every day for 28 days after a red tide, but NOT the week during!

Go pull down the MLK memorial. After all, it’s just a statue, just propaganda.

Please, do not reproduce.

MLK did support slavery thru his known solicitation of prostitutes. So lets rewrite some books.

If they ever find out he was a Republican THEY WILL DEMAND IT.

Ya know, Larsie, you never fail to live down to the expectations we have for you.
Who wants you declaring who should be honored in the public square?

So do Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky, Beria, Mao, Che, Pol Pot, Castro, Deng, Hoxha, Tito, Chavez, Kim, Ceausescu, Ho, and Angela Davis meet your criteria?

rgr769

He’d like to see statues of all of them on the Mall in DC, with smaller versions in the Commiefornia Capitol rotunda.

As the clowns on the libturd side of the aisle continue to flagrantly abuse the freedom they have been granted by many of the people that inhabit this basic law and order website the real aspect of the future lies in a bit of the past that is so easily forgotten, except by those that lived through it…
The recall election of Scott Walker was the end of the world as the libturds knew it in Wisconsin.
The events of the present time are nothing except the same shit, different day.
As Walker won the recall election by over 5 points and the next election to re verify his win by over 8 points against the same clown behavior as the original recall election !!!
If our own asswipe clown car reject pushes for lawlessness and anarchy, which they all are doing, you can rest assured that the problem with the libturds is that they talk only amongst themselves and they refuse to listen to any of the voices of reason…
He’s awfully sure of himself and the fact that Biden will win and that all police departments across the country will be shuttered leaving only their good feelings to govern our new country under their tutelage….
Yeah…..
Sure as shit seagull…
Whatever the fuck you say !!!!
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

A Proud Infidel®™️

COMMISSAR, let’s not forget that when the Nazis took over Germany, THEY did just what your side is doing now, removing memorials and rewriting History that dissented with their dogma.

Commissar

Should we have argued the Saddam statues stay up?

What about the statues erected by Nazis in Europe?

This notion that a statue is sacred merely for having been made is nonsense.

SFC D

The Taliban destroyed historic sites and cultural artifacts that they disapproved of. Would you be in favor of dynamiting Mount Rushmore? The Lincoln Memorial? Walt Disney? Where does it end? Who decides? You? Your fellow travelers?

jarhead

Commissar…you had me going there for a couple of days. Deluded myself into thinking, “Maybe Lars has changed”, and here you destroy my mistaken thoughts. To your notion, if you are right about the sanctity of a mere statue it would only seem logical that institutions of greater learning (Berkeley in particular) are simple brick and mortar facilities. Likewise, in today’s easy access learning online, surely such buildings can be removed and destroyed with impunity. Damn, I had at least some high hopes for you until now. Going back to my Crayon box and finish your portrait.

Here’s hoping they all put tourniquets on every time they get smacked with a rubber bullet.

Especially if they get hit in the face.

The killing of the deputy is Santa Cruz’s really deserves its own main post.

The shooter is an airmen, and he is suspected in the shooting of the Oakland Federal guard as well.

A Proud Infidel®™

“The killing of the deputy is Santa Cruz’s really deserves its own main post.”

Uuuhhhm, care to clarify on that? Does UC Berzerkely even try to teach English Composition or do they just tell you to feel good about yourself and hand you a “C”?

Commissar

I fat thumbed some of the sentence. Tiny mobile keyboards.

Commissar

And Berkeley has no problem failing students.

It is not an Ivy League school.

SFC D

I’d dispute Berkeley’s status as a school, period. It indoctrinates, it does not educate. It has no students, it has followers and acolytes.

UpNorth

Boom!!
