Yes seems that once again people flock to street theater as some how showing up “the Man”. In out lates one shows a guy claiming to be a Marine Sgt with two tours in Iraq braving shouting at Police nearby.
United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.
Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.
Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).
Yea cause I am sure that the Police were not simply acting professional and not falling for you antics at trying to be a martyr for the cause. Nothing like a Rodney King incident to fill the coffers for the protest. I guess that this was the back up plan since the original one failed.
Here is a screen shot in case the video disappears. It shows a CAR so that should qualify for Stolen Valor. Is there anyone in the Marine Community that can check to see if this guy is a poser?

I went to basic training (WTC when it was actually like BMT) at Ft. Knox. Lackland AFB the first time thru BMT.

Jester; only as a hobby these days. I work in engineering and have for about 25 years. Still have some friends working in the aviation industry. I worked at an aerospace company back in late 80’s to early 90’s.
I’m looking at moving to another company. Went and got my a&p. I want more civie aircraft exp. I have pretty much worked on every military helo in the US inventory.

I think it’s fucking disgusting that he is using his uniform while he’s doing this retarded #occupywallstreet “movement”. I am busting my ass and making ends meet. Sure, it’s hard, but I am not walking around with my fucking hand out asking for free money from people who have busted their ass and make a bit more than you and I. I feel his message, but I feel that he is disrespecting his E.G.A. and as a soldier, I feel that he does not need to be in uniform while demonstrating. Need I also mention that he is violating the military dress code by being in his uniform when not on military duty. As a Marine, he should have been aware of this and instead of screaming at the cops (who I am not too fond of), he should have been much more disciplined. I am thankful for his time, but there are many other avenues he could have taken to get his message across. Again, thank you for your service Sergeant, but find a much less disrespectful and effective way to show the violence that the NYPD may/may not be imposing upon these people. #occupywallstreet? How about #occupycompetence?

I knew him too. 3rd Platoon Bravo co. I saw him on the table, There wasn’t anything anyone could have done. It was a real shame he was a good NCO
Doc, CI. We lost 7. Being a guard unit, especially aviation, you get to know everyone. Me and Tommy Gun Thompson broke red leg rules at ft. Sill and drank together. Me and Eshbaugh shared USAF backgrounds and got along well. Mason was a Hell of a guy. Top Ordonez was cool and took care of US at sill even though he was bravo company’s top. He was our floor daddy in the barracks. Corey Edwards was my maintenance officer who took me under his wing to teach me hydraulic. There isn’t a day that goes by that a small part of my brain doesn’t ask itself if I did or didn’t do something that killed those heroes of mine. Report stated pilot error….but…I still ask myself…..the point is that they will always be with US. They were….ARE….our family. We honor them by remembering them ourselves and to others. Thank you for honoring your friends guys. Thank you for letting me honor mine.
I remember when Cajimat died. Alpha was devastated. It was worse that the locals knew it was going to happen (beds on the windows). But I thought, no that’s not us. That’ll never happen to Bravo. Then Craig died. That was rough. What really gets me is that he and another guy were playing “company of heroes” on a laptop. I kept telling to “hurry up and die already” so that I could play before I had to go on guard. Its funny how innocent words come back to haunt you. I couldn’t do anything to save him. then the 12 July incident (wikileaks video), and then Harrelson died. The guy had just turned 19. Good kid. Smart ass, I remember he said his Zune had been stolen so the platoon turned out all their stuff looking for it. Turned out it was in his laundry bag. OOOO was Jubi pissed.
then SFC Doster died and (i hated myself later for this) at the time I was thankful it wasn’t MY platoon. It was a bad time in a bad place, but we tried to do a good thing. I hold onto that. Perhaps one of the reasons that I loathe so vociferously that vile scum that is the hippie/anti-war protester, they are trying to sully the name of good men, men who can no longer speak for themselves, and try to take from me, the goodness I tried to do for a people that were less fortunate and ungrateful.
Doc, I know about those little words. We had just got into Iraq. 2nd day for me. I had worked a 16 hour shift. They called a company formation at the airfield. I had been asleep for 15 minutes. While walking to the airfield I was pissed. I said ” someone better be dead for waking me up”. God, I still feel ashamed and guilty for that. That was September 18th, 2008. Them I found it it was the first helo I had ever done a hydraulics job by myself on. Fucking crushing

#171. No 2-16 got stood up in ’06, I did only one tour with them. I showed up in Jan ’07 just in time to enjoy one more trip before I got out. What I got was well the Surge.
My first tour was with C Co 225th FSB, where I got tasked out to HHC 1-14 In, B AND C Bty 2-11 FA, and C 1-27 IN. Pretty much all I DIDN’T get attached to is 1-21 In. I was on FOB Warrior on 02 Jul 04 when the AHA blew. BIG BOOMS. Very memorable.

First tour, is that 2nd Stryker brigade 25th ID? The support units identifications I’m not as readily knowledgable about.
Well BEFORE they had strykers but yes.
Do not get me started on Stryker units, 4/2, and 4/9 INF I mean, negligent discharges on a weekly basis, speeding and recklessly driving at high speeds, then there are the numerous times that they rolled their vehicles for crying out loud….
