The Paul Wickre Chronicles: Paul in his own words
As the legal issues raised by this situation are evaluated and the facts investigated, for the time being TAH will not allow any more comments on any of the Wickre/Monkress/APL threads. Thank you for your patience as we work through this.
(In light of yesterday’s events at the Navy Yard, I’m publishing this so you can see what we are dealing with.)
NOTE: SHould go without saying, but behave yourself in the comments. THIS WILL BE READ BY LAW ENFORCEMENT. I want to make sure they get the threat, so don’t say something dumb. Kapiche?
We haven’t posted any updates on Paul Wickre for nearly a month now. In fact, we even went a step further and locked down the threads. I wanted to briefly explain why, and show you what we are dealing with behind the scenes. We are doing this because clearly he does not intend to stop emailing and commenting here, despite numerous entreaties that he no longer contact us.
For now, we have a great attorney helping us out. (No need to send money, we are good for now.)
His name is John D. Mason, and his law practice is “Copyright Counselors” out of….Bethesda Maryland, where Paul Wickre is located, which makes it much easier. He’s also an adjunct professor at George Mason University, where I graduated from law school. But the ironic part is, he has also worked with someone we all know and love loathe: Michael Yon. (In his defense, he also has Mike Totten as a client, so he’s one for two on those guys.)
Anyway, he’s phenomenal, and I won’t clutter this up too much praising him, because he deserves his own thread and hosannas once this is over. Suffice to say that dude has helped us immeasurably, dealing with local law enforcement, Mr. Wickre’s attorney and others. And he answers my calls and questions every time I call. So, if you are writing a book or need a literary agent, call him. If you are being sued for defamation, call him. He gets my highest recommendation across the board for legal knowledge, eagerness to help, responsiveness etc.
Anyway, yes, he’s helping us deal with local law enforcement on the ground in Maryland. Since we last talked about Wickre, things went RAPIDLY south. For obvious reasons, I am going to be somewhat circumspect here. As I was about to leave the country for Cuba, Wickre decided it was time to ramp up the physical threats. Rather than talk about them in the abstract, I am going to include some of the comments we blocked from the website, and emails we received, and let his words speak for themselves.
I perceived the threat to be real enough that I contacted three FBI field offices, my local police, and the police in Maryland. All of them have responded well, albeit somewhat slower than I would have liked, since I was headed out of the country. I got a new security system for my house, and started getting my wife to understand the basics of personal security. My father in law came down to stay with her, and to teach her some basic firearms skills. Now, my house isn’t the Alamo that Jonn has created, but I daresay we can hold out until reinforcements could arrive.
Wittgenfeld thinks we are being “pussies” for contacting the police. Ok. Then I am a pussy. But I love my wife, and didn’t want her to get beaten with a baseball bat (see below) when I wasn’t there to protect her. I haven’t included Jonn and my responses to these emails and comments, because largely all I have responded with was “do not contact us, continued emails constitute harassment.”
Where do we stand now? I’m not sure what I am at liberty to discuss. I will have updates for you as soon as developments occur. But this is only the first part of what will likely be a VERY long process. Because it is our opinion that this might go far deeper than just Paul Wickre… He continues to allege that his efforts are being bankrolled by APL and Monkress (for example: he wrote that “The litigation expense of multiple firms on this puzzle is being underwritten by the Principals as below, the Wickre Family Trust, APL and Phil Monkress.”). Which means that we are exploring the possible involvement of APL and Monkress in these threats and harassment.
For now though, I give you the threats and insanity that have been going on in the background in the form of emails and unpublished comments he has submitted to the TAH website for publication.

Despite never having seen one blog person, gone through a clinical trial and no judicial comments on alcoholism, The Lilyea commentaors gain ground as under the MD per se defamtion claims, as alcoholism is in fact a loahsome disease, by the original code.

Enough is enough. For all of the incoherence and babbling rants contained within his screeds, the death threats are clear and unmistakable. There’s no excuse at this point for the law enforcement agencies involved to not treat this with the seriousness it deserves. If they don’t, they are in store for a shit ton of unfavorable and uncomfortable press coverage (not to mention lawsuits of their own) when this lunatic actually does hurt someone.
I am hopeful that law enforcement, as you say, is paying some attention to this. This guy is a time bomb and, unless he is deactivated by arrest and detention, he will likely go off. Despearate people do desperate things and an irrational desperate person is dangerously unpredictable. He may victimize someone ‘safe’–that is, someone he is confident cannot defend himself. Considering that wickre has a 16-year history of run-ins with law enforcement, and not just traffic tickets but also things like resisting arrest and assaulting a cop (more than once), I wonder how the police would react if he started this stuff with them?

TSO, You are right to take his threats seriously. He is escalating the threats as he spirals into insanity. This is a clue that he may do exactly what he threatens to do. He might just screw up the courage (by drink or other means) to embark on his mission of revenge. Arm yourself and try to rent or buy a Schutzhund trained dog for the family. Renting is a good option until you can get this guy put away. Good luck and stay safe.

I think it’s fairly interesting that Paul can only fall back on stuff he was born with (money, DNA) to pronounce himself better than the rest of us. He has no personal accomplishments to brag about – and he wades into a bunch of veterans who are proud of things they accomplished with their time in this life. He must feel small and inadequate the first time he ventures outside the Beltway Culture into Real America and bumps into Real Americans who don’t shrink at the mention of his money and genes.
The restraint I am showing right now by not going on a huge cussing rant is remarkable. I really want to say so much “as to” this psycho’s babbling and threats. I’m going to take a nap instead. Good grief! I’ve been threatened in the past for my writings but never with such clear-cut threats of lethal violence. And as someone else pointed out already, it’s not only you guys, TSO and Jonn, and your families, that are in possible jeopardy, but any unfortunates who happen to be in close proximity to this guy. When we have such horrific events as occurred yesterday being telegraphed by earlier behaviors by the killers, surely SOME law enforcement agency should be taking this guy seriously.
From my own experiences, I know that local LE won’t do much more than warn you to be extra careful and situationally aware, but surely Wickre’s own local authorities should be hauling him in for at least some conversation based on the violent, almost psychotic, nature of those threats. They also owe at least that to the unaware and unsuspecting other citizens living in proximity to such an apparently unbalanced and potentially lethal threat.
I certainly hope that is the case.

This is a “man” that uses fear and intimidation to the extreme, and when fueled by drugs or alcohol is a gnat hair width away from a full blown event (as seen by his past encounters with LEO’s). The local POPO are aware of him, and when called to his residence, know that he’s not afraid to be violent.
As for him getting help, Paulie’s wife is either (1) and abused spouse or (2) keeps her distance from his ranting and raving. The only way that Paulie will get some help is while he is in handcuffs or behind bars, if then.
The only way to deal with Paulie is for him to be in prison… let him figure out that he would be just a small fish in suck a big ocean of sharks.
Phil needs to be watching his back… if he’s behind Paulie and his rants, then he may be sharing the same cell in the big house with Mr. Crazy, and that may not be good for him.

The succubus has been trying for centuries (?) to find a way to get rid of the incubus, who follows her around like thick smog, and her current target, the local football star jock, willingly goes after the incubus for her when she finally turns on the incubus to cast off the hold he’s had on her.
