Mid-City shootout leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday night in the 4100 block of Iberville Street in Mid-City.

An initial police report indicates that around 11:43 p.m., an unknown man shot another man. The victim that was struck, shot back, hitting the gunman.

Both men then traveled separately to area hospitals by private vehicles, police said.

While being treated, the person who police say fired the first shot succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the other victim is unknown at this time.
