Johannah King-Slutzky, faculty member and a PhD candidate, wants “humanitarian aid” for the protestors
Johannah King-Slutzky is an instructor at Columbia University. She is also a PhD candidate there. While answering reporters, she advocated for the need for the protesters to receive what she called “humanitarian aid.” One example she gave was providing of a glass of water. However, this student and instructor with the Ivy League university ended up with a real education… Literally “from the street”.

Male Reporter: Why should the University be obligated to provide food to people who have taken over a building?
Johannah King-Slutzky: Uh, well first of all we are saying that they are obligated to provide to students who paid for a meal plan here.
Male Reporter: But you mentioned that they requested that food and water be brought in, I’m not saying it’s going to…
Johannah King-Slutzky: To allow it to be brought in, I mean well I guess it’s ultimately a question of what kind of community and obligation Columbia feels it has to its students, um, do you want students to die of dehydration and starvation or get severely ill even if they disagree with you? If the answer is no, then you should allow basic, I mean it’s crazy to say because we are on an Ivy League campus, but this is like basic humanitarian aid we are asking for, like could people please have a glass of water?
Male Reporter: But they did put themselves in that very deliberately, in that situation and in that position. So, it seems like you’re sort of saying, we want to be revolutionaries, we want to take over this building, now would you please bring us some food and water?
Johannah King-Slutzky: Nobody is asking them to bring anything, everything, we are asking them to not violently stop us from bringing in basic humanitarian aid.

Johannah King-Slutzky: I, we are looking for a commitment from them that they will not stop and violently…
