Michael James Jarrett; recallable Marine Force Recon phony
Scotty sends us his research on one Michael James Jarrett who flashes a DD214 around that says he was a corporal of Marines but slotted as Gunnery Sergeant. Quite an accomplishment, heh? He didn’t award himself any medals which seems a little strange, except that he claims he has an “expert sniper” badge. Scotty says that there’s no such thing. Well here’s his DD214;
Especially interesting is the note in Block 18 that says that the Marine Corps needs to know where he is at all times so that if they need his irreplaceable skills, they can recall his valuable ass;
Well, the Records Center looked at the DD214 and said “Who? Huh?”
I guess we don’t have enough phonies ready for phony duty, so the Marines need some of them on a short leash, like special Mikey. By the way, his family reported that he was missing a few months ago, but then they discovered that he had “misused family funds” and his status went from “missing” to “wanted”. he’s been located and authorities extradited his ass back to West Virginia and he rests in the warm bosom of his family, or Bubba, whoever he’s sharing his cell with these days.

JACKSONVILLE (WVVA) – The Mercer County
Beloved uncle brother cousin Billy Bob Ray Jarraett (aka George) was killed in an early morning explosion that rocked Mercer County a county of only 374 people. I have some questions of all you experts-obviously this guy is beyond ridiculous (Expert sniper badge? Grow up.), but how normal is it to see a recon guy without either jump wings or a SCUBA badge? I think there are different MOS’s for Recon Marines who have either Navy/USMC jump wings, are SCUBA qualified, or have both, but how normal are those things? If you see a guy who has neither and who claims to be an NCO (so presumably he’d have been in Recon for a while and had time to go to some schools), is that unusual enough that it should raise eyebrows? Thanks.
What are DD 214 worth in today’s market. When I was ACDu, they were just stored in a drawer. Who knew?

He’s ready for military.com fora, then, where a guy who claimed to have been an 11B5P in 1983 in the 101st was on the ground in Grenada and saw REAL COMBAT for WEEKS then somehow in the space of a year went to OCS, Q course, and became an 18B5P Special Forces captain (sic) then retired before 1990.
When I called him on his bullshit I was told by guys who must be real, because they have lots of medal images and unit slogans in their sigs that he was a real warrior who had “proven his bonafides” and since I was AF I couldn’t possibly know a real warrior when I saw one.

Actually to 33 I had the same thing happen, except for reals. I was in a unit that decommissioned and was one of the last enlisted guys. They promoted me to SPC and told me I was acting 1SG lol. I moved out of the building the day they knocked it down. (If you go to the Warrior Way PX I used to live near the north side… Yes I was there when they built that sucker at Hood.) And the funny damned thing, my ATRRS used to show that in the old format. Even my ERB had it until it until I changed it.
Also a fun fact. When you retire your ERB job description has to match what they say when you walk across the stage. Due to my strange job in the unit which should have MTOE slots but doesn’t I am looking forward to being KNOWN LOSSES when I walk lol!
