Michael Lewis; phony Gulf War vet

| August 16, 2013

Someone sent us a New York Daily News article about Michael Lewis who claims to be a Gulf War veteran who was exposed to deadly chemicals during that deployment which should support his pot habit.

A Gulf War veteran and his wife claim San Diego County senselessly cracked down on his use of medical marijuana by taking their two young children for one year.

“As a result, they (the children) were deprived of regular, open, and free contact and companionship of family and friends, including their parents,” the couple states in a complaint against the county.

Michael Lewis says he was exposed to chemical weapons during the war that left him with incapacitating migraines, so he sought a medical marijuana prescription to alleviate the pain — never thinking it would cost him his kids.

Lewis and his wife Lauren Taylor are suing San Diego County, seven of its officers, the City of Coronado and two of its officers for civil rights violations, battery, false imprisonment and negligence, the Courthouse News Service reports.

But the actual Gulf War ended six months before he joined the Navy;

Michael lewis FOIA

No deployment awards, a shortened term in the Navy. Case closed.

Sorry to break up SEAL Week, but it’s still Navy Week, right?

AAAAWWWWW, pooor pothead dude and his ‘ol lady, reality and karma suck when they bite back, don’t they?

Old Trooper

Um, just under 2 years in the Navy and he didn’t think anyone would check his records to see if he was actually in the Gulf War? Yeah, he’s a rocket surgeon.

MCPO NYC

AHHHHH

Smitty

he still gets to claim PTSD from the scud attack, right?

Not Smitty

Could not agree with you more. Back when I was in Iraq in 2004 you know back when we were still shooting eventhough its a combat zone and we could fire at anytime I saw burning bodies, stuff, and bodies hanging from telephone poles like in Predator 2. By-the-way did I mention I went to Iraq in 2004 and that I am the most lethal weapon the US has. I have killed over 1000000 insurgets back when we were still shooting in Iraq. Did I mention that I went to Iraq? Bow down to me because I am Smitty the expert of all things military related.

Not Smitty

Does everyone know here that I went to Iraq? I did you know! Hey by-the-way I went to Iraq. You pussies should bow down to all mighty Smitty because you know I went to Iraq on one deployment which makes me an expert. Oh hey you know I get laid by fat chicks.

Green Thumb

This turd was probably hanging with the “Big Dawg”.

Combat Historian

Perhaps his ship sailed the Arabian Gulf in 1992 on a cruise, and thus he was “in” the Gulf, so ergo he was a “Gulf War vet”; just like I Served “in” Kuwait/Iraq during 2006-07, so I should also be a “Gulf War vet” in addition to being an OIF vet. What a potheaded scumbag; but hey, at least he didn’t claim to be a SEAL (that we know of…)

Not Smitty

I went to Iraq you know? That one time I was in Iraq I watched a haji dvd. You know I went to Iraq right! I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I WENT TO IRAQ! SOMEBODY LISTEN TO ME I AM SMITTY!!!!

Old Tanker

Were the deadly chemicals from him sniffing too much paint after scraping the hull?

Old Tanker

Chemical attacks? Did he not give the shitter time to clear before going in?

Flagwaver

So, a guy with not even two full years gets popped for smoking pot? I wonder how many times he melted the bottle* in the Navy before they gave him das boot.

* FYI: “Melted/melting the bottle” is a term from my first Battalion that means peeing hot during a UA.

Not Smitty

@10 the deadly chemicals he was sniffying was my bunghole! You better sniff it too old tanker or I will school you on war knowledge because you know I went to Iraq?

Not Smitty

@12 you know my piss melts the bottle all the time because I piss acid. By-the-way you know I went to Iraq in 2004 back when we were still shooting? Did I mention that I went to Iraq in 2004 and that I am an expert on all things military and fat chicks?

Scotty

1 year, 5 months & three days. He was never in ODS ..His military MOS was Aviation Electronics Technician Airman Apprentice

From Same IP Address as "Not Smitty"

@15 shut up scotty. Do you know who I am? I am Smitty and I went to Iraq in 2004. Your knowledge of the military is inferior compared to mine. Screw you asshole quit trying to steal my valor. Did I mention that I went to Iraq in 2004? I AM SMITTYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Hondo

Hey, “Not Smitty” – you got your screen alias wrong in the previous comment. I fixed it for ya, along with a couple of other minor corrections.

I left the URL you posted as your website alone, though. For you that looked to be apropos.

Scotty

Go back to bed Smitty…LOL

riflemusket

Wow; I’m very surprised he didn’t claim Navy Seal as well,or caught the PTSD. What an ass.

Roger in Republic

Gee, a man who would lie about his service. Do you think he would lie about needing dope for a medical condition. Lying once makes you a lair in my book. Perhaps his kids pissed hot from the constant exposure to cannabis smoke. That would be my guess.

Just an Old Dog

Sounds like a loser pothead who got shit-canned of the Navy.
In San Diego you can get a Marijuana Medical card for an ingrown toenail. All the local rags have ads in the back where you can go and get a $40.00 exam by someone who can write you a prescription.
The article glosses over that there was a suspicion of him dealing, dirty living conditions and he displayed signs of mental illness.

NHSparky

Hmmmm…let’s see…18 months of service, booted as an E-2. Yeah, who here doesn’t think his love of the hippie lettuce had something to do with THAT?

LebbenB

Choad.

NHSparky

@8–no chance. If he was “in the box” even for a day, he’d have had a SWA Medal, or at least a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

The fact that the ONLY thing he’s got is an NDSM tells me he never made a deployment. Anywhere. EVER.

Just an Old Dog

@19,
Roger, The link to the one side of the story is totally biased towards this douche. Apparently someone tipped the cops of that the old lady was running an unlicensed day care. Where they got there they saw tool bag wandering around, some dope plants and a dirty-ass kitchen. It was enough for them to call CPS.
They ended up taking the kids away for quite a spell. Dipshit and his old lady cleaned up the kitchen, moved the pot plants and got a lawyer.
They are looking for a paycheck from the city.

ChipNASA

Is there such a thing as a sock-troll?? We may have to make up a new meme.

509thBob

Who knows? Before he joined the Navy, maybe he was one of those secret naked warrior guys.

And Not Smitty, if you’re Not Smitty, why do you keep claiming that you are Smitty?

Finally, I was on a plane that re-fueled in Okinawa (but kept on board the plane): do I get to claim that I’ve been to Okinawa? If so, would that also make me a Marine?

Smitty

ok, this actually is Smitty, im pretty sure the other one is our dear friend Dalton Coldiron. i just want to go on record and say, i dont do fat chicks. proven fact ill do ugly, but i dont mess with fat ones.

appologies scotty for his retardedness

Smitty

i like the logic bob, i refueled in germany, we were there at least 2 hours.

Ex-PH2

Can I claim catching the PTSD from watching the Gulf War and those SCUD missiles being blown up on TV?

It turned me into a news junkie, I tell you. I can’t give up the news any more. I tried, but I’m addicted to it. I mean, I got to watch the ‘shock and awe’ thingy on TV and all those night vision anti-aircraft attacks from Baghdad where they were shooting stuff at the sky and there wasn’t anything there, and I got SO addicted to all that stuff, I never could give it up. And I tried. Couldn’t.

Can I get a PTSD bump for that?

Green Thumb

I watched a porno once.

I am now a porn star.

My new name is Dallas Slidewell.

Just an Old Dog

Oh the fake tattooed bunny molester is trolling here now? Boy you just need to dry up and blow away. You are too young to ende up like Dullass Witlessshit and Paul Wickre

Smitty

i sent jonn an email asking him to check the IP location, but i cant imagine who else it might be, especially with the cracks hes made. i guess hes just trying to get an early start on next years tourney

tm

Being down in SD, the only “deadly chemicals” he probably ever was exposed to was in a meth lab. Maybe he got the PTSD from the meth lab blowing up. 😉

I’m sure there’s more to what got him busted and the kids removed than just hot boxing and Doritos munchies in the house, probably at least the child endangerment from operating a hotbox daycare. Local cops in CA are basically leaving pot possession and use alone.

Smitty

gotta admit, hes funny

dutch508

It’s one of those “Gulf War Era” vets…

RM3(SS)

Sparky, I am in no way defending this buttplug, but when I got out in 1975 I had been on two boats one east coast and one west coast. Went to sea on both, and did Westpac on the Tautog. We got the Navy Expeditonary and a NUC. I got out right after we got back from Westpac, and because I didn’t really care and our Yeoman was a lazy turd, all it shows on my 214 is the NDSM. He didn’t even list all my schools, my NEC doesn’t match up with my schools. At the time I didn’t care, just wanted out. It still doesn’t matter that much to me, I know what I did. But the point is 214’s aren’t always the complete truth.

Hondo

The tool posting as “Not Smitty” has commented on a couple of threads – on another thread, from an IP in the DFW area; today from one in New Orleans. If it’s RoomTemperatureRustedRod, he’s apparently traveling.

Maybe he’s looking for some French-style “bunny love” down on Bourbon Street.

Hondo

RM3(SS): that’s not a DD214 shown above – that’s a NPRC reply to a FOIA inquiry. They’re supposed to review a person’s OMPF in preparing the reply, not just glance at the last DD214.

I’ve seen FOIA replies that listed more than was on the same guy’s actual DD214 – specifically, one I’ve seen listed the VSM for a guy whose DD214 omitted same. (Not a mistake – the guy rated it for a WestPac tour his ship did in 1972, but it was omitted from his DD214).

Bottom line: if a NPRC FOIA reply says no campaign/expeditionary medals, odds are damn good that the guy or gal never deployed.

Smitty

if it is him or someone else, its amusing at least. i wouldnt be surprised if it was him, the most he would know about my military career is hen i was deployed. it isnt something i talk about much, especially to someone that wouldnt understand the first thing about the military

RM3(SS)

That’s interesting Hondo. makes me wonder what mine says then. :)Maybe I made all that sea time up in my head. Hello Psul? pass the bottle….

FC2 Dewclaw

What the hell is up with all these navy turds floating up from the bilge?

Just take your BCD like a man, quit smoking dope and try to be the best parent you can be to those kids.

Of course, with parents like that… those kids have two strikes against them already.

Very sad….

NHSparky

@36–sorry your yeoman was a sorry sack of shit, but IIRC, the Sea Service ribbon didn’t even come out until 1974.

I guess I should be grateful that (most) of the PN’s/YN’s I dealt with had more than three functioning brain cells. Not all of them, mind you, but I knew who I could go to if I needed to.

Bottom line, this guy probably didn’t have time to go anywhere with boot, A-school, and then pissing hot (multiple times) and sitting at TPU awaiting discharge.

FormerMM2

Just writing to say…I’m a veteran (former Navy nuke) and I love what you guys are doing with exposing these frauds. Keep up the good work and I love reading this site! I served with no particular distinction…did my enlistment and got out. But I don’t understand why these dingbats have to inflate what they did…if you already served, why do you have to lie????

NHSparky

Same here, MM2–what boat? (715 and 647 with a radcon tour thrown in between.)

FormerMM2

USS George Washington, CVN-73…from 1999 – 2001. Got sick and was transferred to NAS Norfolk, where I completed my enlistment. Don’t feel like I did much, really. I went through power school right before they closed down Orlando. Went to S8G for prototype…does anyone know what MARF is, really????? :sarcasm:

FormerMM2

Let me add…when I say I don’t feel I did much, I mean I just did my time and got out to got back to school…I wasn’t a lifer and I wasn’t cut out for that stuff. But I’m proud of what I did (and what my shipmates did too)!

A Proud Infidel

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with that, MM2!! Welcome to TAH!!

NHSparky

@45–I do, although I wish I didn’t. S5G (Idaho) bubba here.

teddy996

@45- I was in RE division on GW that same time frame, was at S8G in ’98, and was 9706 out of Orlando. Guaranteed we knew each other. Were you M, RM, or ELT?

OWB

MM2: You and those who also served honorably but not for an entire career in the military are the majority of veterans, so you are in good company.
