Gun Nutt: One shot, one deer
ROS sends us this video from Gun Owners for Reform with little Gary Nutt who tells us what we already know; we don’t need a scary black rifle to hunt deer, because somehow he brought down his deer last year with one shot. And, if you don’t believe him, well, he’s a Vietnam veteran, so there.
And that Gun Owners For Reform web page doesn’t look like an Obama website at all. Um, Gary, sit down. We’re not saying that we need scary black rifles to shoot our deer. Have you been paying attention? We also don’t need rocket launchers or grenade launchers for deer hunting. Now, the bayonet lug, that’s a different story – we may need to bayonet our deer if you’re going to limit us to one bullet per deer.
If you want to limit yourself to a lever-action .30-30 rifle, that’s your choice, I don’t think that any of us want to take it away from you, so why do you want to take away our scary-looking black rifles?
And WTF does the fact that you’re a Vietnam veterans have to do with anything? Seriously. I want to see a DD214. Hey, you brought it up, so since you think that it gives you a measure of moral authority in the discussion, you should be able to document it for us.

Again, since when was it ever called “The Bill of Wants?”
Once again demonstrating the difference between liberals and conservatives. If a conservative sees something they don’t like, they avoid it or move on to something else. If a liberal sees it, they try to ban it.
Once again another damned idiot making reference to hunting and the 2A, when it has nothing to do with hunting at all. The 2nd was not placed in the Constitution to protect our “right to hunt” Bambi….
How soon before VoteVets is pushing this as well?
Dear Gary,
Go forth and procreate with yourself and leave the discussion of our liberties to the adults in the room. And if he’s a fake vet or someone who didn’t go overseas, I hope he gets mocked off the internet.
I’d like to see a FOIA request for this guy’s deer harvest (a buck) last November (KY modern rifle season). I wonder whether he took a deer at all. I also would like to know what he was shooting at in the video. I guess that was his one shot for this year, eh? He has a nice hunter orange hat but I don’t know why, what with the camo jacket. The KY regs require head, chest, and back hunter orange. Then there’s those glasses hanging from his jacket. He must do a lot of reading in the woods because he doesn’t use them otherwise. And as for that footwear, nothing says outdoorsman like a good pair of hush puppies.
If he is a Vietnam Vet then he needs to review his oath of enlistment.
@3–you mean they’re not already?
Oh.
My.
God.
This guy must think he’s Mr. “One-Shot, One-Kill” from “The Deer Hunter”.
The guy’s last name – Nutt – says it all with no further comment needed.
I have a picture of the deer he was shooting at.

It’s the Mr. October Inflatable Deer.
@1 “bill of wants” exactly…
I am tired of all the 4ssholes who use some personal experience as a means to
diminish the opinions of other folks.
He’s a deer hunter and a vet, so what?
That some how makes him an expert on what I am allowed to possess in my home?
What if, as a vegetarian, I decide he doesn’t really need to eat deer protein. And because I can make a great soybean stew that delivers all the protein a venison stew would deliver I am now suddenly empowered to decide he doesn’t need to hunt or eat meat? If we get into what we need versus what we have a right to do we are all in a lot of trouble. You don’t need an early 70s muscle car to get to work or cruise to the beach, a Chevy Volt will do the trick for you, you don’t need a 6 bedroom home when you don’t have any kids, a small single bedroom condo is more than enough….
Screw all these guys who think their view is the only one that matters. Like it or not we all have a voice and as stupid as some of us are, we still get to tell our side whether you f$ckers like it or not….that’s the essence of it, we can p1ss each other off with our debate but we are not allowed to take away each others rights as enumerated in our founding documents.
VOV, Shhhhhh….someone in the Oval Office’s female unit might hear you.
I am so sick of the “You don’t need…” line of shit these facists keep pushing!
Rosa Parks didn’t “need” to sit at the front of the bus.
I don’t understand why people seem to think the only game in the woods is deer. There’s a whole bunch of critters that need shooting. Unless they’d rather we resort to trapping…
@13, precisely. As has been said here and elsewhere, it’s not the Bill of Needs or Bill of Wants.
Bingo, FreddieLounds. People forget today that the Remington .223 (civilian version of the NATO 5.56×45) is a very popular “varmint” rifle.
I’d like to see his service records before I make further comments….
Last I checked, we don’t have a right to hunt….and when hunting is no longer allowed I supose we won’t need those silly guns….
Do gooders have already taken away my “right” to dove hunt in Michigan.
“Paid For By the Progressive Change Campaign Committee”
That says it all – very loudly.
My reply to you, Mr Nutt, et al: “NUTS!”
….for that matter, why the hell isn’t “Mr. One Shot” using a muzzle loader….seems that’s really all we need.
Now Now, #17. We all know the media verifies that a vet is actually a vet and asks to see a copy of their dd214 before they report on them.
Yeah, that website doesn’t look like Astroturf, not at all./sarc That said, I really don’t care if Nutt is a vet, one way or the other. What he is, is a pathetic statement that politics trumps common sense.
Then again, ammo is so fucking expensive now (if you can find it) that one shot might be all you can afford.
When hunting deer, a deer rifle of one’s personal choice works best.
When hunting invaders of personal space of various descriptions — give me a SCARY BLACK RIFLE!
My two cents.
Cannot post the picture so here is the text.
Article II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. Shall not be infringed.
ENGLISH LESSON FOR LIBERALS, LESSON 1
Find the word “NEED” in the above Article.
Now find the word “RIGHT”.
Found it? Now open a dictionary and fucking dictionary and learn the difference between the two.
The 2nd amendment is as much about hunting as the 1st amendment is about playing scrabble.
I had some halfwit try to pull the “you don’t need…” bullshit with me the other day. Well, guess what fucker? You don’t need a pen, or a car, or shoes or a house. Difference is you soft-headed clown, is that this particular right is guaranteed by the Constitution (you may have heard of it).
Since when does “need” become a legal justification? I’m hearing this more and more from these brain dead monkey fuckers and I’m this far from diggin some holes in the desert…
…because it’s therapeutic to dig holes is why…
You know, when I cleaned out my closet I eliminated clothes I was no longer wearing. They were all in good shape, but work-related clothing that someone else could use.
I didn’t NEED those clothes, so I got rid of them.
I kept what I WANTED.
@27–brain dead monkey fuckers
I keep reminding myself that’s what they are, and I try to take comfort in it.
But there’s so fucking MANY of them…
Did mister “vietnam vet” need to shoot that deer? Or could he have gone to whole foods and gotten some Tofurkey Burgers?
Hippies and logic are like oil and water.
#29
It’s why I own a backhoe, an axe handle, and an alibi.
@31 Replacing the liner in your above ground pool to include releveling the sand base is good for that as well….
Looks like some bum they hired for the video, and his fat ass “stalking” to hunt was hilarious.
GFY, Gay Nutt! (Oops,I forgot an “r” there, or did I?)
https://www.facebook.com/gary.nutt.188
Anybody who puts a scope on a .30-30 lever action to hunt (or anything else) does not impress in the least.
@35 What?
He’s entitled to his opinion, courtesy of the same Constitution that guarantees me the right to own said “assault rifle”. Besides, most people don’t hunt deer with a .223, they are more often used for small game and if Mr. Sportsman was really on top of his hobby, he would know that.
PintoNag: I think James was referring to the fact that the 30-30 isn’t considered a particularly good choice for long-range hunting or shooting. A scope should therefore not be needed.
@38 I think you’re right, Hondo. I couldn’t decide if he meant the rifle or the scope!
Pinto, Hondo,
I hunt in the Michigan northwoods where you don’t shoot much over 80 yards. No scope on my .30-.30, it’s perfect for brush hunting. My youngest got his 1st deer this year with it too, about 50 yards with open sights and it dropped in it’s tracks.
Mr. Nutt….he got it with the first shot but had three more in the magazine!

Old Tanker, the north east or north west woods of the Mitten State?
Don’t see many folks around here with 30-30’s, but then, it’s mostly open spaces and farms around me. Hence the scope on the rifle. It has nothing to do with my eyes not quite being as good as they once was.
UpNorth,
Down state I use a scope on my shotgun and muzzle loader because I hunt farmland. We have property (240 acres) on the north east side, near Rogers City, not too far from the bridge. We have small clearings for food plots. Finding the deer through a scope when looking into a swamp isn’t very easy so I don’t use a scope up there…
Well,
Unlike Mr Nutt, I don’t NEED more than one shot because that’s all I have with my rifle-musket. I do have a choice as to whether to take the .577 Enfield or the .58 Springfield, but that’s about it.
The one real advantage is that when I hit the deer, it’s mos’def going down, and half the time it’s cleaned out for me too. 🙂 Just joking, but it’s surprising the kinetic energy that either of those two calibers impart with a pure lead round.
And yeah, the moron in that video is definitely a plant, used by the left in this astroturf video.
Fuck him and all the rest like him.
I would love to see the paper on this pony-tailed, one shot, Facebook pretty boy, hunter man of a politic hacky sack!
One shot, one kill HEH? I have made many heart-lung shots on Deer.Blown up the heart-lungs and still they run 200-400 yards on me. It is very rare Deer hunting getting a 1 hit kill-knock down. I use my AR-10 because in my part of Oklahoma we are having a feral hog outbreak. I can drop 2 hogs before the herd runs off.Did I mention both taste great and save on the meat buying?
@38 Yes.
I need to be clearer.
@45 – Joe, do you ever smoke the meat, e.g., the pork belly (bacon, pancetta) and ham?
Now that I think about it, this guy using a .30-30 in an essentially anti AR-15 political commercial is a little bit much. The .30-30 was the AR-15 of it’s day. An all around rifle, useful for defense (large ammo capacity and high rate of fire), general hunting, easy to transport (ideal horse scabbard rifle) and inexpensive. One shot one kill huh, well if he’s talking about his credibility he’s 100% dead on!
you guys are all crazy. this was a great video. i now know to support sen mconnel
To Mr. Nutt: I am a real VietNam vet and can prove it. I hunt deer with a Ruger No.1 .243 WIN which is a single shot. I do so because it is my choice. I also own an AR-15. I do so because it is my choice. If you don’t like my choice you are welcome to and take it away from me.
More people claim to be Viet Nam vets than there were troops who served there. Nutt put up or shut up.
