…ain’t no other pony troll down like me. I’m twilightlicious!

| July 18, 2012

I guess you guys want to talk about this because I’ve had three links emailed in the last five minutes. I don’t know what to say, actually. There’s a club for military fans of “My Little Pony”. “Jon Not to Be Confused with Jonn” and “SIGO” emailed this link to us from Fox News which tells us that they call their little club “War Horses”;

So-called “Bronies,” adult men who are fans of the TV show “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic,” have apparently been around at least since 2010, when the Hasbro-owned cartoon first aired. Within their ranks are “Military Bronies,” service members from all branches of the military who share their love of the show and wear the “cutie mark” – a Rainbow Dash patch on their uniforms, Army Times first reported.

Here’s the “cutie mark” as it should be properly displayed, I suppose, from Military Times’ Outside the Wire (the link was emailed by our buddy Jeff Schogol) as modeled by (whatelse) a Navy air crew member;

They have their own website; FOB Equestria. I guess it’s harmless, but…jeez.

ADDED: Our buddy Jeff Schogol writes at the Air Force Times about the bronies.

For those of you wondering what you’re going to get ROS for Christmas, she says she wants this, one of each I’m guessing. Birthin’ all of those sons of hers has made her girlie;

What else would you buy for a horse doctor woman?

They all just need to smoke themselves.

ROS

They will NEVER be as awesome as what I’m emailing you right now. NEVER.

DNelson

Smoke themselves with a jackhammer…

PintoNag

There is something kind of…Hannibal Lecter…in all of this. Gives me the shivers.

ARoberts

AH hell ROS. Do we need a drink warning?

Latushy

there is no words to the level of stupid on this…I guess with DADT over with all the freaks are wearing their flags proud

Kilo

Please tell me this is an example of intentional irony…

Latushy

no these twatwaffles are being serious

Jon not to be confused with Jonn

There is just something just wrong about this….can’t put my finger on it…..

ARoberts

I thought it was a TDB article the first time I saw it.

Sgt Awesome

No.

No, no, NO!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Old Trooper

Um……………….yeah

That’s all I’ve got

I am confused. Can someone explain this to me in simple terms that I can understand?

Latushy

my issue isn’t the stupid shit these fuckers like its the fact that they are wearing these patches ON their uniforms and IMO spitting on it

Ex-PH2

Grown men watching a little girls’ cartoon show?

Eeew!

DR_BRETT

What’s next ??
Butterfly/Peace Symbols (again) — ??

Trent

Thank God its just My Little Pony and not gay pron. Obviously though, with gay porn the patches would accessorize better with the uniforms.

PintoNag

According to the link, there could be a problem. It seems that these doofii are showing up at My Little Pony conventions in uniform. And they have also taken to wearing the My Little Pony “flash” on their uniforms, which is unauthorized.

Jon not to be confused with Jonn

Please don’t judge the NG by the picture on the Fox News article….what was the SPC thinking….(hangs head)

CI

I’m not sure how many members they have…but there should be an equal number of man cards that have been turned in somewhere.

ARoberts

Well, since there is a RIF about to happen, lets start with these dudes……

ROS

Yeah, I made it “Semper Filly” before I nearly wasted a perfectly good Chicago dog (withOUT the freaking tomato and WITH ketchup and extra peppers- for that hater).

Sgt Awesome

I promise you, that if I ever, EVER, find someone wearing one of these… things on their uniforms, I will pull out 670-1 and read the ENTIRE thing to them while they are in the front leaning rest. If they sag or bend, I start over at the beginning.

PintoNag

@24 Make sure to video tape and post those sessions, please!!

Spockgirl

Yeah… saw that “Semper Filly”… GAH! Although, the patch that says “I’m going to love and tolerate the shit out of you.” is kind of cute.

NHSparky

Wow–that shit is gayer than eight guys fucking nine guys backstage at an Erasure concert that just had the Village People open up for them.

ROS

You said “open up”. Heh.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

Ah … I just got it. They like cartoon horses and they are well … fabulous!

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

BTW. I just went to the AF Times aticle @ http://militarytimes.com/blogs/flightlines/2012/07/18/first-breast-feeding-now-my-little-pony-bling/

The link to the story about the two HOT AF chicks was much more interesting.

@27…INDEED…there is a dude in a pinkie pie hoodie (their term not mine) explaining why it was wrong of Col. Schlichter to speak poorly of their little club as not being very manly…

I think the term “pinkie pie hoodie” means the good Col. was right and they lose their counter argument on general purposes…

Veritas Omnia Vincit

@31 = me sorry for not realizing I was not using my poster ID…

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Ahh I read that wrong, the Col was in the pinkie pie hoodie after losing a bet…guess I’ll get back to work now…can’t multi task worth a sh1t today…

ARoberts

One of the guys I know on FB has the name and unit of the dude in the photo. Hes written a letter to the asshats CoC.

ARoberts

Not the photo posted here, the one that is paired up with the fox news article. Most of the NCOs in our little group are pretty pissed about this whole thing. Its bad enough we have folks who just cant figure out a uniform to save their lives but now we have this shit… SMH maybe its a good thing Im no longer on Active Duty.

Jim Holmes

Ugh!!! Another ‘protected class’ is in the offing

ROS

I’ll go ahead and admit right now that my daughter (who’s 10) has a MLP hoodie. That said, I’m a bit frightened that there are also hoodies that say “Keep Calm and Brony On”.

I can’t make this shit up.

Jon not to be confused with Jonn

@#37 ROS….I get that your 10 year old daughter gets it…that’s appropriate…but a uniformed ARNG soldier….(still hanging head shaking it)

ARoberts

I have no issues with kids liking the show. Im sure a bunch of my friends watched it when we were all kids. Hell I dont care if a bunch of dudes want to watch MLP, what they do in their homes is their business. I draw the line on the wearing of shit like this on a uniform and going to conventions in said uniform.

Sporkmaster

This is were I first heard about them.

http://memebase.cheezburger.com/bronies/

ROS

@38- Hell, grown men, PERIOD- in uniform or not.

I’m more than a bit skeeved by the thought. The uniform part smooth pisses me off.

malclave

People dressing up in Star Wars costumes don’t seem so strange now, do they?

SIGO

I’m pretty sure that Darius fellow resembles a former FLARNG member that went AWOL back in 2010 and moved to the NY/NJ area.

OWB

Will someone tell me that this is satire? Please???

Jon not to be confused with Jonn

@#42 malclave—Star Wars is different, at least you wouldn’t be in a real military uniform—again what you do on your own time aint my business….

Bobo

I’d say that the best place for their “cutie mark” is as a tattoo just above their ass crack. I’m assuming that they already have the dolphin tattoo above the belly button.

ARoberts

OWB, I wish it was, I really do.

Jon not to be confused with Jonn

Nice…a MLP ‘tramp stamp’…..cute!

ARoberts

Brony bulls eyes for the win!

ANCCPT

As weird as it is, people can do what ever they want in their own time. However, if I see any of these on uniforms in my AO, we’re going to have a little chat about AR 670-1, and how to present yourself like a professional soldier. Standards are exactly that, standards. If it ain’t authorized in the regs, It ain’t happening.
I was talking (fuming) about standards and appearances at one of my last staff meetings, and this is when my First Sergeant looks at me funny and says “Sir, are you sure you didn’t used to be enlisted? Because you sound like a crusty old soldier ranting about standards”. Ha. The army is heading into a rough time, and while I wasn’t alive for the Army of the mid to late 70’s, I am the type of officer who knows his history and that will NOT be happening on our watch.
So, er yeah. No my little pony patches for my guys.
